Wakpala Singers - tribute to MNX

Wakpala at drum practice on November 29, 2019, singing tribute to Midnite Express with a popular circle dance song. Singers here are Weptas and Demetri Brockie, Rion Johnson, and Elijah and Adam Bauer. Other singers not present (at this practice) were Hiyuum Nowland, Myles Minthorn, Caden Stewart, and Aiden and Manny Nomee. Though based out of Pendleton, Oregon, our drum is named for my family's hometown of Wakpala, South Dakota on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. The boys are currently ages 9 to 13 years old and are mainly members of the Umatilla, Nez Perce, Yakama and Coeur D'Alene tribes and love to tour powwows in the Inland Northwest. Our home powwows include the Wild Horse Casino Powwow and any powwow or celebration held at Nixyaawii Longhouse, and other favorites include the annual EOU Speel-ya Powwow every May in La Grande and the Tamkaliks Celebration every July in Wallowa.
