My dad was part of the 7th ID and invaded Kwajalein. He said that the Japanese, who had been on the Atoll for years never bothered to range their artillery on any of the smaller Islands. Worst was a lack of fresh water and not enough real-estate to dig a mass grave for the Japanese dead. Instead of burying the bodies the black, swollen, stinking corpses were loaded on LCVPs and taken off shore for burial at sea. The navy didn't do a good job. And soon enough the tide brought the dead bodies back to Kwajalein.
My dad was on a 2man amphibious tractor recon there, first wave to hit the beach. He went on to Guam, the Marianas, Okinawa and the Ryuku Islands. Semper Fi, Thanks to your granddad for his courage and his service.
My dads dad was here as well, went in with the 1/24th (same unit mentioned around the 9:00 mark) of the 4th division, got hit in the leg but went on to get hit far worse in Saipan months later
This documentary shows the hell our soldiers and Marines went through I t and all the women that worked in the factories and all the women that worked on hospital ships
Called “battle of Kwajalein”, still exclusively focuses on the Marines on Roi Namur while ignoring the Army division that fought on Kwajalein island itself. Marines and their god damn hubris
Interesting that dead bodies are shown, something that the snowflakes wouldn't allow nowadays, in case it offended someone. What makes these people think they have the right not to be offended.?

My stepfather was in the 32nd Inf Reg/7ID
Just checked the islands on Google Maps . Fascinating .
I have Family involved with KWAJALEIN after we took it. the family joke was only two jeeps on the island and they hit each other!
There's another common one back then, they said there's a girl behind every tree. Remember we leveled everything, nothing grew until the 60s
Excellent every time I watch it.
Did they actually have sound recording? Seems like these were effects added later.
The sound was added

It's because they're Democrats I believe. They always want to fix things which isn't broke. At least not till they "fix"it anyways.
