I got my whisperlite in the mail and the stainless tube that’s crimped onto the hose going to the generator is 3.35mm. The tip on the Coleman Apex pump is 4.05mm. Looking at the locking plug with the O-Ring on the apex stove I think you “Could” possibly sacrifice a whisperlite generator / hose and countersink the back of the Apex stove adapter slightly then double flare the tube from the generator of the whisperlite and the apex adapter should seat it against the O-ring in the flame adjuster of the apex stove. The other option would be to sacrifice a hose from an apex pump and put the fitting on the other end of the whisperlite hose to make an MSR pump adapter but I would be less likely to do that. Apex stoves and parts are still available the pumps seem to be unobtanium.
Cool stoves..I can't remember if they made a lantern in that style. If you have a Ollie's store nearby they carry the mantle for the north star..cheap. and don't look directly at that lantern..she's blinding 😊
It’s a shame the apex was missing the debris plug from the stove socket. I did notice rather quickly the pump has a very different feel to the pump with it running in a plastic housing. The way the pump over pressures and releases the relief valve feels different from a stand alone stove or lantern.
I have been curious about the difference between the Apex & the Apex II . Now I'm still wondering the difference in the Coleman Mountaineer version. I have it, but I don't have the Apex to compare it to.
I purchased a second stove set with a smaller fuel tank and the apex 1 stove but it does not have the feet kit or the fuel plug for the stove. I also ordered a stand alone stove in well used condition I may try and adapt a whisperlite hose onto to use with an MSR pump.
@ looking at it they don’t seem to sell those parts. The hose and generator are all crimped together. I may buy a parts stove to sacrifice it. If I can sweat or braze the MSR generator into the hose plug on the apex stove then the MSR bottle will only have to provide the pressurized fuel and the Coleman generator and control valve will still do all the work. IMO the apex is a better stove than the whisperlite, but not nearly as compact for travel.
@@kcstafford2784 did you have an issue with them? I do feel like some of the things on there seem fragile. I just picked it up so I know very little about it. Thanks for watching and for commenting I appreciate it.
@ErikH86 there fine for bace camp but as you use them they always need tinkered with and finicky about fuels...If it's in my pack it's gotta be tuff...
you never see those stoves up here in Canada. Lots of Tim Hortons though. Thank you for showing them to us, Erik. Stay safe and stay warm
I appreciate you stopping by and thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless.

Thanks, Patrick, I have an Oille's 5 minutes away. I'll have to check on that. I am excited for a light up. Thanks for watching.

I hope this video helped to show the difference. I would love to see your Mountaineer version sometime. Thanks, Rob for the support.

Dang , awesome 😊
Any feeling that you have, that one might be better than the other?
Nice simmer

I don't have a Whisper Lite yet. Lol but Let me know how it turns out. You might be on to something. Thanks for watching.

@kcstafford2784 yeah I can see that. But a lightweight but more rugged would be the ideal setup.
@@ErikH86 I use an optimous nova,,multi fuel same set up..burns anything..
