  • I'm adding more drama and variation to my skating by learning some new maneuvers, and street modifying existing skills. This week I wore 5 different skates in 5 separate practices. Adapt or die!
    Skates are from ProSkaters Place www.proskaters...
    'Stay Low' hoodies and T-shirts teespring.com/...
    City Skater Bill Stoppard is wearing:
    Micro Delta F
    Adapt GTO
    USD AEON 80
    FR1 with Endless Frame 80
    Flying Eagle Drift
    Ennui kneep pads
    Powerslide Helmet
    Pro Skaters Place also carries a wide selection of Dwonhill and cross country skis, and other dope ski gear!
    For foldable, sustainable transport, check out these Electric scooters from rideitelectric... another excellent store from the creators of ProSkaters Place

    Honestly, watching Bill Stoppard trip, flail, and fall is one of the more encouraging things I've seen, from the standpoint of feeling better about my failures. Don't be afraid to post failures! It helps us!

    I think showing the falls helps a lot to se what went wrong at that level, you should make a video analyzing why it happened and what was your state of mind and body.

    • @altruex
      @altruex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      he sort of did, his body and legs were tired. hahaha you gotta pay attention and listen to your body because as fun as it can be - when your body is fatigued, youre chances of falling and risking the chance of injury greatly increases. so always listen to your body and dont over do it.

    I've got to respect the fact that you as an urban inline skater and to all skaters, that when you're skating, you wear a mask, in spite of all of the energy and cardio output. Love the videos keep up the grind.

    Bill, I respectfully have wondered when you would open up and do more. That’s not to say what you do is not very impressive, but I’ve always wondered why I rarely see you skating backwards or sideways much. Obviously you can do that stuff.. I’ve just wondered why you haven’t, so it’s inspiring to see you keep pushing for more. I need to remind myself to do the same more often. Cheers. Keep crushing it!

      @BillStoppard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question D! I guess I don't view backward skating as something I 'need' for city skating, but it is fun! It only recently hit me how freaky I could look and feel creeping the alley's in reverse.

    Man, you rock those skates amazingly!! I think what you do is the main goal of skating. That, and doing it wizard-like. Keep up the tough work!! I myself am returning to wheels after 15 years of abstinence at 40 and loving it!!

    Just an idea Bill but If you wanted to practice your grinds, i'd recomend making a rectangle metal/wood box and start grinding in the grass, if you can find any in your area :-) . It helped me out alot and crashing in the grass isnt as bad as street. Just an idea! Love your vids, Cheers

    I’m bad for getting caught up with the stuff I want to do and neglecting the rest. Next year I want to get parkour-like efficiency with the simple stuff, and learn some simple additions that I can slot in. Transitions, wall rides, magic-slides, and grinds are on my list.

    I'm 31 years old I started playing rollers 1 month ago I like them but I got a lot of pain in my elbow and my back bcz of falling😅, I know that I'll forget them by time😂, today I played for 2h continue it's so good😍, I started learning to jump and turn to the right in by parallel turn, I can turn to the left using parallel turn and cross over easy, but I have a problem to turn right using parallel turn😕 it's so hard. anyway, I'm so happy that's the point hhhhh😁😁.

    Bill,
    I appreciate someone with a high tolerance for pain. That baby finger looked bent in a couple different directions = broken. No splint when you were feeding the dog? Do you reset it yourself (with the help of Mrs. Leadfoot) or visit the ER. BTW nice skate rack, you have had different systems over the years I really like this one.

      That crooked finger is a remnant of a skate fall on holiday 2007. I'm always mashing it. Will likely not get it fixed until it learns to behave. Yes, I love my new skate system. Thanks TM!
