I have 5 mk1's with scratched front elements, really hope they offer front element replacements too in the near future. I love that they are doing the unthinkable with remaking these
For those of us skate movie producers raised in the movie camera days using c-mount century lenses, these screw on the end of the zoom lens vignetting fisheye adaptors like the MK1, although getting us through an era, were always a joke.
I think I speak on behalf of the entire skateboarding community when I say THANK YOU Century Optics for resurrecting this crucial piece of skateboarding history! 🙏
I feel like these lenses aren't that great. I have a bundle of reasons where I could back it up (just ask me). I will say it is popular for good reasons so props to y'all. Maybe I am just looking for a medium format fisheye look but for camcorders....
Please make more MK1s if possible. I love new technology but none of the new cameras look good. The hd lenses make skating look slow and boring. I think vx1000 is more cinematic and looks more like a movie. Hd looks lien you’re looking at footage through a regular phone
looks like all the petition did was show century to create a new monopoly, these lenses are $800 at best. price them accordingly or just go hd already everyone, why waste your money
@@janiggaski good find man that's a great deal. Meanwhile you can use your pre owned $1500 lens and I'll probably end up selling my $1600 unused new mk1 lens in a few years.
He has a point. In 2019, mk1’s costed 800-850. Or cheaper on eBay. I bought my mk1 for 540 in 2012 lol. It’s worth it though skating doesn’t look good in hd camcorders
@@chad4853 Compared to a mk1? Not at all. How a smaller dimension better the mk1? Lol I use a iPhone 12 Pro Max. Plus I own a 2k/mk1 you sound crazy buddy 😂😂😂
With Everything you can do in post production now with a click of a button. I can make it look the same way but better and its easily shareable across multi-platforms. What are your thoughts on the VX1000 Mk1? 👇
>1600 BUCKS
LOL.
over hyped, over priced. all you did was let them know the want to create a monopoly

best lens ever, 4x3 remains superior for skating

And for making it in the first place
Jose deserves a spot in the skateboarding hall of fame.
Now we need the Xtreme!!!
So who is Jose's apprentice?? The knowledge needs to be passed along for the craft to live on. Skateboard is forever grateful Jose!
I back this 💯
Thanks Jose, you made the skateboard world a better place :)
Bless Jose
Had a fisheye for my GL1. It was my most cherished item as a kid.
Wonder if the century employees have their own crispy vx set ups lol
Very cool and iconic piece of kit.
This is dope ! I still have my Sony vx2100 with the MK2 lens .
Me too !
Thanks you Jose!!!!
Gracias! Jose!
Great video. So cool to see the craftsman behind such a legendary piece of gear. Thank you Jose for the awesome lens, I got a lot of use out of mine!
Century 💙💙💙
Jose, you're the man!!
What would this lens have been if it had not been for skateboarding?
That’s actually a good question. Wtf was this lense intended for? Never seen a harsher fisheye outside of skating and like skydiving.
The Camera of 90's Porn. Skateboarders and Porn Directors ran this camera.[
Music videos in the 90s used fisheyes for a while, but thats all I can think of
Save the MK1 ! VX forever ❤️
300 MK1's going to Bot Scallpers in 15 seconds of release. What a Joke.
The MK 1 lens is to skating like a James Brown drum break is to Hip Hop. Maybe I’m just getting old.
Great work, this video is amazing!

Havent filmed with a vx in about 10 years, but I need an MK1 just for nostalgic reasons
Wow this is crazy 🔥🔥🔥👍🏻
Perfect
Now make it for the hvx pleaseee
Why such low view count? This video was great!
are those digital cameras or tape? you can convert it to digital in 4k then
Why did you re upload?
I think they're about to restock today. check the description
what would skateboarding be without Jose
pls do the same with the xtreme :)
They killed the Death Lens?
Now if only Sony would start producing VX1s again…
I got one at home if you want it for like $100
@@mateo1726 I'll take it bro

Such a great project, happy to have the lens back into production for a limited run 🙌

I agree. Skateboarding looked way more exciting through the vx1000. It captured & conveyer the action much better in my opinion.

LOL
Imagine paying 500x the cost of manufacturing for anything.
The only decent fisheye for a dslr is $1300 🤷♂️
You have no idea how much a good lens costs do you…
You dont even want to know how much the xtreme is worth😂
They may even go higher in a few years as There is only 300 of them
My 28-70 F2 RF retails 3500 I guess.

Because imo if your gonna film hd might as well just film iPhone
lol who's gonna tell this guy he needs to check out the price of an HVX fisheye

First
the fisheye is getting super old and annoying. time to move and accept that today quality cameras and lenses are 1000000% times better.
Wouldn’t agree with your comment. Some people would, but NOT everybody….
The .5x mode on iPhone at 4k 60fps gives the same for a 1/4 of the cost. And it’s a phone.

Good riddance to the fisheye lens. Abhorrent. Why tf did anyone ever think it was a good idea?
