Honestly, I respect that strike team. Not only does the leader have a good head on his shoulders, but they also wanted to ensure that Jinwoo (who they thought was the weakest) got out of there safely.
One thing that they cut from the manhwa is that they recognize that a dungeon break with this many orcs is enough to cause a calamity on the outside. They could lose part of the city, and so it's their job to close the gate, even if it kills all of them. So, it's not just that they want him to escape, but that they need him to call the elite team with its 2 S-Ranks to deal with the dungeon before it breaks.

The Jeju Island arc is very important, but it's not particularly long. It could likely be fit into 2 episodes (or an hour long one if the 12th and 13th episodes this season are on the same day), with the setup being its own episode prior to the actual event. Based on their current pace, they ARE planning on including it in this season.

They 100% aren't going to do Juju island arc in this season. There is non of it in the opening and there is still a lot of crazy things to take place.
They 100% are gonna reach Jeju AND finish it, they're alredy at chapter 72 if they keep this current pacing it's gonna be right on time to finish at the end of season 1 of the manhwa, chapter 112 I think, and they probably kept it out of the opening to generate hype when the time is due
There is a scene in the opening with him wearing the clothing he does on Jeju Island. They can't exactly include a certain K-Drama loving character from that event in the opener without a massive spoiler though.
