You always hear guys at work or wherever sitting around talking about how strong they used to be and how muscular and you know it's 90% bs but these two guys were the real deal no bullshit about their weight training and physique.... Dave was a monster himself in the day
@@calebboud90 2000, but '97 and '98 were his best years. Honestly 1997 had the best overall physiques ever. So Dave taught Levrone the modern Gh/slin protocal for the 96 Arnold. Heard Levrone say elsewhere that 96 was the 1st time he hit the modern gh/slin protocal to outsize Flex at the Arnold that year. While not discussed that specifically, so honest and courageous to go there in this interview and discuss it, even generally. Much respect to Dave and Kevin for this kind of honesty and open discussion.
I seen a video of kevin and he looked like he never touched a weight in his life. Lol. But when he went on the juice and started training he grew unbelievable. Just good genetics

Funny hearing about that thinking back in 81 it was all free weights at my gym the only machine I remember was the tricep and Lat pulldown machine. Started seeing more machines in late 80’s early 90.
Greatest bodybuilding genetics of all time no doubt. Unbelievable how fast he grew. Very nice humble guy too. His posing at the British grand prix 98/99 was best ever look imho.

xtremelemon my bad. I didn’t mean Kevin used it. I was referring to the question of what is different from the old school bodybuilders and new school. Other than machines, they have the “growth”
HGH was around since Arnold's day. GH is not new stuff. The difference between Work and gut and Coleman's gut is in a different league. Dorian could still pull it in. Coleman genuinely looked pregnant in some of the pictures of him.
@@stevenhewes1990 hgh was not really around in arnolds time for athletes. Then they were getting it from cadavers. It was not used by them. It became popular in the early 90s and insulin is the biggest factor for gut bloat. There is a fatty layer under the abbs covering organs which tends to thicken with insulin use. That myth has been broken by research but you have to dig the net and read pdf files from medical research companies.
Dorian admitted that Kevin was stronger than him in chest and shoulders, but Dorian was stronger in the back area. He let Kevin have a few secrets in training the back…. A secret he came to regret a year later when Kev showed up at the Mr. O with an amazing back and nearly blew Dorian of the stage!
One night lifting at like 2am I lifted barefoot lol it was gnarly!I got the tingly feeling in my extremities ,like when you skydive or watch someone climb high up.also felt unsafe as fuck haha
He could of carried on training legs off season if that was his reason to not make Olympia. Pec tear sucks but seems like he could of continued to train a little at least and not stop completely, which is prob why Yates questions his work ethic
Kevin levrone is not somebody I would ever designed my work ethic around. He put so much stress on his body is going to have an effect in the long run if it hasn't already. When he's dieting down he can't even sleep he so overtrained I don't see any advantage to that in the slightest. If it wasn't for his genetics he would have never got anywhere. When he was training this time for his comeback he was hitting his legs every other day and wondering why they never grew the way they should anybody with any kind of brain knows that is not a way to train your legs that's just a good way to get injured Andover train severely. I had a lot of respect for him until recently I did not know how heavy he had to rely on genetics and drugs
