I am amazed at the number of obstacles on the footpaths that people have to dodge around or work around. Just imagine if car drivers had to negotiate anything even vaguely resembling "dodgem cars". It appears that pedestrians are not seen as legitimate or deserving of road space. On the same vein I haven't noticed even a single cyclist prepared to brave these roads. That surprises me.

@@anthonydowling3356 What happened? I attended UNSW in the early 90's (during Bob Hawke and Paul Keating era) and got to travel to most of the eastern Australia region; it was fantastic!
I am very biased because I live in Brisbane, but I think Brisbane is a bit cleaner than Sydney and the housing prices are cheaper. Sydney has a lot more specialty businesses though, I often buy things online and get them shipped when I could have gone to a store if I lived in Sydney. Sydney is also a lot bigger, if you live in the suburbs it’s quite a drive to the city, whereas I live in the suburbs and can walk or ride my bike into Brisbane city. I think Sydney is very popular with immigrants and working visa holders but Brisbane is more so a place you can afford to live long term.
