@@RydenDirty ... but no legs. Ridden many times on no sleep, hungover, jones out, and next to a girl I couldn't name. You have skills; it is about confidence and sight-lines for you to hit those drops. When you come off the lip of a drop too "flat," you carry too much speed to land under control. More pull earlier combined w foot boost will create arc in your transition to land under more control. The key for me was "eyes up" and focused on where you want to go. Think of jumping on foot from take-off to landing, but on your bike. Happy trails. I'm in OH. Jealous of your trails. Sedona is as much of AZ as I have ridden.
I'm 56 and at this point in my riding (been doing it regular since the late 1980's), what "progression" means to me is keeping what skills I've amassed til now intact! I'm totally happy with saying 'no' to stuff that would have tempted me years back. I mountain bike, like sidehits, jumps, wheelies, weird lines, and the occasional enduro race, etc., but finally don't put the pressure on myself to exceed my limits (it is unavoidable at times though!). My rides are for my own enjoyment these days, not to prove to myself that I can keep adding things to my repitoire stunts.
I salute you my friend. Knowing your own boundaries is a hard thing to reason with. That’s why most of us get hurt. Sounds like you’re still a rowdy rider. Love that you still get out there and have a blast👌
I'm 60 and ride with my 20something son. He does far more adventurous stuff on trail than I do. While I would like to send some of the bigger jumps, drops, and other features, I know that my body would not be as forgiving as my spirit. There comes a time when you have to know what your limits are and be okay with it. I could send the features over and over until I got them but I also know that with each crash, I'm probably at risk for more serious injury and recovery time than he would be. So I enjoy the trails, take videos of my son on the sketchy stuff, and enjoy the fact that I'm able to be outside and enjoy my slightly more tame rides. Kudos to you for pushing through.
That’s rad Jeff that you have a son that rides too and you can go and spend those moments with him. I’m sure one day I’ll slow down and still enjoy every second of it. Especially when my daughter starts shredding 🤘👊
So well said. I can still do everything, but at 62, if I don't...injuries are just not the same when I was riding 20 years ago. Blew out my shoulder 8 months ago (bad) and still not back on the mtb. I need to wear armor and just walk tricky stuff. One more bad injury like this and it is over for me. So, do I want to do jumps and super tech, which are a blast, or keep riding for another 20 years...I need to pull back, a lot!
So much truth to a lot of what you said...I'm 52 & the struggle is real as far as pushing to progress without deleting yourself...I was just hit this same trail & crashed on the first gap jump which zapped my confidence for the bigger creek/gap jump, however, I will be back to hit it!!!!
Ya man, those little mistakes with kill that confidence real quick. But as long as you can keep going the hurtles get smaller. And you know this trail is a gnarly one. Let me know when you hit it. 🤘
Also 52 and have yet to clear every feature on Boulderdash. For those that haven't been there, he's not kidding when he says it looks like nothing on the GoPro but in real life it is terrifying. Most of the people I ride with think I'm the crazy one and not scared of anything but what I keep trying to explain to them is exactly what you see here. Listen to the Hardline competitors talk about the course and it is very easy to see that everyone fights the same battles at their own levels. We all have our limits on what is scary and I'm so impressed with the guys on the video fighting through it and getting there. I have a video somewhere of me hitting my first real gap jump with consequences of about 8' (seems like literally nothing but it is funny how your mind works to turn it into something when you can easily jump 8' without thinking about it on a normal bump). That was around 4 years ago and when I watched the video I remember that I kept saying, "No fear! No fear! No fear!..." the entire time I was heading to it. Now I can do it without thinking about it but it took a huge amount of discussion and self talk to allow me to do it. Probably spent 15 minutes talking myself into it. I'll eventually talk myself into all of these features and videos like this certainly help encourage it. Keep up the great work.
Dude! your story telling is so good, so compelling! That trail looks fun but gnarly. It looks and sounds like its all kitty litter, making it that much more challenging. Great Video brotha! The struggle is REAL! Love the color aesthetic too bro! Keep up the awesome work and congrats on cleaning all those features. You're a beast!
NOPE! I am doing more rowdy stuff at 53 than I dreamed of at 23. As a BMX kid in the late 70s I had not thoughts of being an avid mtn biker into my 50s, and NEVER would have dreamed I would be hitting 20'+ gaps 45 years down the road. I didn't really get back into jumping until AFTER recovering from an 8' fall off a boulder and breaking my elbow, ribs, sprained shoulder and wrist @ 3 years ago. That had me revisit all of my "Greatest Hits- (into the ground)". I realized they were all tied to being complacent. Started getting back into the fun stuff with some buddies once my body was ready. My validation came after doing a full pull down Party Wave (Snow Summit) with a bunch of riders. After clearing everything and having a blast, when I took my full face helmet/goggles off one of the young guns tells me..."Dude, you don't look like I was expecting!" My response..."yeah, I am OLD, probably as old as your dad". I make it a point to regularly hit the gym for some heavy lifting, and the trails/jumpline for the riding fitness/skills. We control our lives, not some arbitrary "age"... Great video! Love the story telling and personal journey. You perfectly capture the ethos of mtn biking in your vids.
Dude I LOVE YOU!!!! you're exactly what I want to be at your age🙏 thank you for sharing this. This means a lot to me. people like you inspire me to keep going and make the content im making. Old Dudes Shred 🤘
Sick video. Love how you deal with and share the raw mix of stoke & apprehension that goes into mountain bike progression. I'm on that same journey at 50 years old!
Keep rockin it mate, I'm recently back into the MTB mix as of last October, loving it - And after another trip around the sun, turned 64 in January... \m/
Good stuff, man that was a close shave on the river gap landing to the right.... I was clinching while watching, LOL. I'm 49 and for the last 9 years have been asking myself the "Am I too old for this?" question for MTB and Snowboarding and the rest of my questionable activities. So far I keep pushing through the next year and, screw it, let's just keep going until we die!
I love how mountain biking is as much fear management as it is skill set. It creates an opportunity for us to embrace a vulnerable part of us that wants to stay protected, and then choose to shatter those limitations that we inherently set for ourselves. Thanks for the vid brother. I just turned 41, have a career and a family. If anything I take the calculated risks I take, to remind myself that life will always be about forward movement and not staying stagnant.
Great video Erik, you're never too old to have fun on the bike, you rocked that trail bro, despite a few crashes you didn't let it stop you from jumping the river gap, it was scary. Awesome performance and awesome work. Ride on and have a nice week🤘
CHRIS!!! Thanks my brother. I hope I never get too old for this stuff. Getting up from the crashes is the hardest part. I always say one day I’ll be back. And that happened 🤘🤘🤘🤘
42? Nah, that's when i started riding MTB again. Def climb slower, tire faster, whine more, and healing takes longer. I'm also more excited these days for the next ride than when I was younger. You're never to old if you have the motivation and still love doing it.
lol I climb slow too. And and gas out faster than I want to. Definitely a game of being fit in This sport. Wish I was younger when I started but still enjoying every second of it
Great job capturing all the dif camera angles, it really helps to give perspective Erik. Glad everyone was ok, some of those crashes were nasty. Congrats on getting the gap brotha!
Dude, you are a big reason I am as good as I am. (Always a student!) You taught me to throw fear out the window and (intelligently) attempt new features. I hold you in the highest regard, keep up the amazing work! You are a bike god.
STEVE!!! Coming from you my dude, means the world to me🫶. I’m so glad I could influence you to have even more fun on the bike. Stoked I know you my brother. Can’t wait to shred with you again soon…
Awesome video man, it’s great to hear, encouraging words! I’m in my mid 40s as well and getting back into ridding and loving it. Having fun with the kids and realizing if I want to progress, I just gotta keep doing it. Have to look at road blocks as a fun and challenging obstacle.❤😊
March 31st I turn 60 and I have been riding since the middle of the 90s. I have had a neck fusion (sea doo accident) and back surgery. I also have an artificial valve in my heart that requires me to take "blood thinners" so blood clots don't form on it. So as far as I can say you are never to old to MTB. My goals now are to keep my current skills intact and just enjoy the fact I am still out there just riding. Never give up goals, but don't let them control you. If you let them control you, you may miss a better goal that is buried inside. My new goal is to get out there, ride, find new trails, and know that I am getting older and have limitations and that is ok.
Man that’s awesome that you’re still out there riding!! With all those limitations and you’re still out there getting it. Bravo to you my good sir. And that is a good point. Don’t let the goals get in the way of the enjoyment🤘🤘
I would move back to AZ just to try to get some riding in with y’all! Great video and stoke shared here. It feels amazing to conquer those lines that baffled you once before. When before we were hanging on for dear life and sketchy as hell and eventually learn to stay with the bike, to lean and jib, progression is so much fun. Cheers!
“As long as you land it, you’re good” 😂 - just found your channel and this video has me hooked. Great job man! I’m 38 and I can relate to this whole video. Keep pedaling bro!
You killing it bro! Jumps and features are my main jam like you. New jumps with consequences are intimidating for sure but never to old to send it until you think you are! I am 58 and started at 56 and started out hitting small tables and little jumps and now sending 20-30 foot gaps. I credit that to the practice and skill learned hitting the jump lines at Summit last season
What a class A+ production video. Your mountain biking skills have improved immensely so has your video editing skills. I'll try to remember what you said in this video as I'm almost 50 years old. Way to send it! 💪🏼👊🏼
I hear you. Just started and I'm 56. Brought a trek 2023 powerfly 4 gen 4 hardtail. I can't do jumps and each time I try to the bike is just a ground slug. It's that or I'm a fat old afraid dude. When I got the bike 6mths ago I was cruising through town and hit a wheelie bin with my left handle. It spun my wheel around so fast it picked me up and judo throwed me into concrete at 32 km. Rotarcuff torn multiple injuries. So hit the track solo and see a little wooden jump that goes down a small hill. I can't do it. Each time I go out I break a spoke in my rear wheel. Why?
@RydenDirty I contacted Trek surport. They said my bike is intended for road trail riding only. Ok, now I know I will pump the bump and not try and jump it. Save up for a full suspension bike.
Just keep riding. What’s happening is that you are actually pushing your comfort level way above your confidence and as soon as you land you panic. When you panic you “over react” and over brake, over steer, etc. It’s normal. Just keep riding and becoming more and more desensitized. Soon it will be like nothing 🙌🏻
Nope.. I started at 50. Don’t let other people tell you that you are to young to old. Go reach your goals and make yourself happy… the ones c;latest to you are the ones that hold you back more than anybody. And didn’t remy hit a like with a 70 year old lady last year…
keep on tryin dont let any one say u cant im 63 yrs old and still ride Motocross and have done a little mountain biking i still hit doubles , step downs whatever i can get away with that day i have good days and bad days my body tells me usually what im gonna do that day just have fun and fear is a good thing u have to respect the obstacles and remember your not 20 anymore there is no way u can pulloff the things u did in the past
just found your channel really awesome.. I'm 53 and started riding again after about 30yrs break ....and I'm pushing myself more but the fear now to when I was young is huge!!!
Dude so stoked you found the channel, welcome!!!! 30 years break is a long time but welcome back🤘 fear is definitely bigger the older you get lol. But at least you’re out there 👊
Thanks so much ...fun channel to watch you guys having a laugh all together...yeah this getting old is no fun my head thinks I'm 18 still and im 53 but having some good times on the bike just wish I could do more than I can
@@bud1lite yeah definitely i was out with my mate Sunday he's much younger and I was only saying the same to him ... trouble is I think our heads still think we're 20 our body's aren't and the fear really kicks in
First time seeing your channel, enjoyed the video. Just got in to mountain biking about a month ago myself at 35, and it was a rough wake up call in to just how out of shape my cardio fitness was. You go in to something with a perception of how it will be, then get on a bike for the first time and have your heart and lungs try to explode on a 100 foot climb and it definitely puts things in to perspective 😂😂. Keep it up man! All progression is good progression.
Dude the fitness will kick your but if you’re not in shape. And boy does it take a minute before it starts to get easier. But hell ya for starting at 35 my dude. And welcome to the channel 🤘🤘🤘
Started less than a year ago and I'm about to turn 50. I've been hitting jump parks and black diamond trails with no prior experience. Stay lose, be confident, and watch plenty of tutorials. Good Bless
Eric, i was 52 and just getting over covid when i saw you at bean peaks. y'aint too old. just maybe forced to chill over time, with age. i still hit the jump lines at NRA. boulderdash is a pita for anyone, any age. love that trail, hate that trail. not sure i'll ever get the big gap send at Pure-O (near the very end) but dammit, i wanna . i really wanna.
Confidence comes from knowing proper execution, but if you get sketched out on some feature the execution goes out the window. I suggest doing parking lot work dropping off small features like curbs and ledges and repeat, repeat, and repeat again. Once the muscle memory is locked, the size of the drops become less the issue. Then, you can be focused on things like speed and sight-line for the landing. It is rare that technique is honed by just learning on the trail. Even on the drops with sloped landings, not hucks to flat, you need to pull to a small manual as you boost with your feet. You will self-correct the bike in the air to match the landing and transition smoothly. You are coming off the features too level, more like an English bunny hop you would use to clear a smallish log on a flat trail. I'm 54 and have been riding mtb for 30+ years, but I learned to level up with these bikes and hit doubles and ride black trails. You will get there. Keep grinding and happy trails. Also, hitting a pump track regularly will improve every aspect of your on-trail game from my experience.
I was browsing through comments to see if anyone is gonna say something similar. I take my hat of and bow to these 3 young fellas for having the courage to hit these features, but it is visible, that they lack of technique to execute same way each time. They still do the feature and survive (most of the time), but it is always on the edge of it. Once again, my big respect to these men, they are very brave, but I would recommend hitting much smaller features and improve the How-To, instead of bigger features and just telling yourself: I did it.
@@SergejGrabun Crashing is not the path to confidence. Yes, it was survival mode on some and blow-ups on others. I have coached HS sports for many years, and you don't get good at anything by showing up at the field on game day. Proper fundamentals and repetition. Also, work in the gym. A confident body reinforces a confident mind. Last, once you spot your entry/take-off line and start to boost, the eyes must be squarely on the landing, not just out there or on the things you don't want to hit... for you will surely hit them. I struggled with this for quite awhile.
@@RydenDirty Naw, man. You have skills already on most of the stuff you are riding. The confidence thing is all you need now. I am an old school rider who started on rigid steel mtbs. I had to "unlearn" a lot of how I used to ride when most all skills were on the ground. The kids riding mtbs now are used to being the air from bmx and skating backgrounds. The new bikes make us better riders and keep us pushing... even us old farts. Cheers!
It’s all about fun. When it’s not things happen. Been riding and racing for 36 years sometimes you’re on the podium and sometimes you’re not. 😊 Happy Trails.
At 54 I think “Is it worth doing this?” . I raced MX in my 20s - 30s. So maybe used up all my sendings. 🤷🏻♂️😂 The best way I learned to do jumps back in MX days was have a buddy slightly better than me and let them lead me into a jump.
I just turned 53 & I've been riding MTBs since 1990 & the other day I fell pretty fucking hard just from doing nothing. An unexpected pedal strike came out of nowhere, and just like that, I'm going OTB. Luckily I got up and rolled away from it. This sport that we love comes with consequences if we don't get it right. So with that being said don't take any unnecessary chances and don't ride anything out of your abilities until your ready to. And remember to have some fun while your out there. 🤘🏿😎
Man Hawes has so many great trails but I still haven't hit Boulderdash, just a little above my pay grade. Healing at 46 is starting to take a quite a while.
Ya I feel ya. I had a couple of crashes out there it took a toll on my for a little bit. had to take a few weeks off to recover. now im solid ready to go.
Haha I really feel you when you said I'm a 42 year old that thinks he's 16. I'm 44 and feel exactly the same. Twenty years of skateboarding and now almost 10 years into mtb and wanna ride like the kids.
Bro you are only as old as you tell yourself, keep slaying.🤘 As long as you do it you’re good, as long as I land I’m good. I mean as long as my body lands over there, I’m good 😂😂😂
Lol, I'm 51,the number just looks weird, and been in and out of mtbing. I got into it in the 90s and for me mtbing was more about exploring the woods on trails by bike. The whole concept of building trails for riding was just taking off and living on Vancouver Island I witnessed the industry completely change with freeriding and Vancouver north shore but never really got into that extreme riding. I rode mostly alone so was never pushed skill wise into drops or jumps. I could do decently on technical singketrack steep rock rolls but am a tires on the ground type rider. Needless to say it's challenging today to ride a lot of trails with these drops and having to learn them at this age. If I go down I tend to stay there for a bit and possibly broke something. I can look at a drop and imagine going otb and the smashed feeling and I chicken out. It's a tough compromise.
I feel ya on that. There are plenty of times where I just say “nah I don’t need to do that” I love this sport and want to keep doing it for as long as I can.
I’m 65, just bought my 5th mountain bike my first ebike. Im pretty excited. Been riding racing since I was 35. I don’t think you’re ever too old. But there is a time you quit jumping shit. It’s not about who goes to the ER the most times . It’s about getting your heart rate up. If you want to jump get a motocross bike. I did that too.
Did motocross as well for a few years. Did a lot of track days. Hated having to deal with the maintenance and not being able to ride where ever I wanted. I’ll never stop jumping and sending big shit. I started off never knowing how to jump, 4 years later full sending pro jump lines at bike parks last season. This is just the beginning 🤘
We all seem to live in mesa AZ, I am et Ellsworth and southern, Usery pass mountain is just a fey miles from me. South mountain I have been there 500 times at least.
Nobody are born with gifts, that's just mambo jambo. We either do the leg work or we don't. We all approach challenges differently because no person has lived the same life, so it's irrelevant to compare ourself to anyone but ourself because I can only lift my own arm up just like you have to lift up your own. Nobody but I can make something happen in my life, so if I have a struggle with a challenge only I can do that for me. Personally I am 43 years old and just got into mountainbiking again in 2022(8 years without an mtb) and I sucked hard simply because I had no relevant experience but just simply having pedaled lots before, just not much mountainbiking. For me I've just had to learn how to ride these newer bikes especially, and my biggest block was just lack of will by itself simply because of fear. I have nobody to impress but myself so I just take one step at a time and it's just something you need to force yourself through. It doesn't matter how quickly person A get through a challenge compared to person B either because there's so many reasons why a certain challenge may take longer for person A than for person B, and we can only do our own leg work. Personally I'm not the best mountainbiker in the world simply because I do not have the experience nor is it my goal, it's that simple. All I can say is what do you personally want out of this and do you know if you happen to compare yourself to others that may be hindering yourself, or what may be the cause. It's at least best to be honest with ourself and try to do what we love for ourself and nobody else.
So Im exactly at the Point you were 3 years ago. Im 38 years old and just starten with jumping on mtbs. You think its worth it or wouldnt you do it again at this age? Thx for your Great Videos. Greetings from Germany
Hello my friend. For me it’s 100 percentage worth it and I would do it all over again if I had to. This sport has made me healthier and happier than I’ve even been. 🤟
I'm totally the same way I don't like long riding I just want to jump You ever looked into Dirt Jumper bikes alot fun pump track bikes u should check out pump tracks.Dude u guys are the average guys seem like alot of fun.Great video.
Brooooo it’s so crazy most of us think this way. I have a dirt jumper. But to be honest it’s not the same for me. I have become so accustomed to the full squish and I’m terrified of the DJ
42? Oh so young. I turned 62 this month and shred harder than ever. I could destroy my 42 year old self. I love jumping, but my "airtime" comfort level is lacking. But i'm up to about 15' gaps. I never say never, just maybe not today. Fear is not a bad thing. Fear keeps you safe. But fear can also keep you from progressing. Having no fear is deadly. Observation + Session = Progression. You need to observe good riders clearing a feature, to see how. You have to invision yourself clearing the feature. Once you clear a feature, you must immediately session to fully acclimate to the feature, before moving on to the next. Keep at it!
Dude I envy you! I want to be 62 and still be shredding for sure. I feel as if when I go back to a place the second time I do so much better. It’s like it puts my head into a great place of focus when it’s the second time. The first time I’m there I always build it up too much. But I also live for the fear 🤘.
@@RydenDirty If you have to run up to a feature more than 3 times, you should just skip it for another day. Because you've psyched yourself out to much and bad things happen when you force the issue. Like I said, I'm up about 15' gaps, but their are still some smaller ones that just screw with my head and I've yet to do. I wont say never, just when I'm ready. You have a long ride ahead, chill, enjoy and it will come.
I started at 40 in Canary Islands, with a bunch of brits from my town, the guy who taugh me told me this : Don't do jumps and you will ride until the last day of your life, 99.9% of serious injuries are due to jumps. I'm 60 now and I'm still healthy and in one piece. No jumps.
54 and still mountain biking since 1998. Broken shoulder, right clavicle, fingers, wrist, and a few concussions. Don't care. When it is my time, I want to slide into my grave busted up, winded, and the last words I'll say is, "Holy shit, what a ride!"
I am by no means that "old" but I am getting closer than further HAHAHAHA My biggest obstacle is the fact my wife is a stay at home Mom and I need to function for my families sake..... Sometimes I have to say no even though I want to try it.
Het Bro. I'm 60 and I still ride, but not as often as I once did because my knees are shot. I've watched 4 minutes of this video so far. From what I can see in your takes it looks like not setting up the departure correctly, too much pulling on the bars instead of using legs, and maybe too much air in your tires? Those are just some observations, If you've addressed all, please pass over this. Stay strong and determined!
And it feels great. What’s funny though is I physically and mentally feel younger now. When I was in my 20s I was a drinker and out of shape. Now I’m healthier and physically stronger.
Hells no, I will be six one in ten days.Still shred, do what makes you happy.Never listen to the naysayers, they just wish they could do it.Peace and stay safe 🙏
Seriously man you gotta pace yourself ya don’t want o get taken out with injuries especially being older I’m in my mid 50’s & have ridden & raced for over 30 years I’ve ridden local trails hundreds of time & know my lines & it’s almost automatic but I’ve had days where even though I’ve done it 100’s of times some days you just don’t have that rhythm & flow & strange enough my climbing a lot of times would be my marker if I had a good uphill & made most of obstacles it would translate into a good downhill run I’m sure also because your relaxed you just don’t want to go so hard up that you are basically hanging on on the downhill been there done that.
You won't have fear if you don't ride like a teenager doing kamakazi downhills . i've been riding off road since 1958 and still have no interest in what is called mountain biking today . i'll ride a few really easy flow trails but mostly i keep my wheels on the ground and enjoy the scenery and fresh air . i have zero interest in speed but still enjoy my self immensely. oh , i'm 78 .
Your riding will improve tremendously if you guys quit snorting blow!

@@brianstewart2446 thanks my dude I know the struggle and at the end of the day it’s worth it
Dude yes!!!! Love this video. So sick and that trail looks mean!!! Well done boys!!!!!!
BROTHER MARK!! Thanks my guy. You need to make a trip out here for some hawes
75 and still riding and improving!
Thats whats up!!!!
Dude! your story telling is so good, so compelling! That trail looks fun but gnarly. It looks and sounds like its all kitty litter, making it that much more challenging. Great Video brotha! The struggle is REAL! Love the color aesthetic too bro! Keep up the awesome work and congrats on cleaning all those features. You're a beast!
Thanks Elias !!! It’s definitely a different experience for sure. Very loose. But still a blast
I'm inspired, my dude! Hell yeah! Stoked for you! Keep that progression going! I can't wait to see what's next!
Sick video. Love how you deal with and share the raw mix of stoke & apprehension that goes into mountain bike progression. I'm on that same journey at 50 years old!
Thanks Tyson, I always feel like showing the raw parts is important to show what’s really going on. Working through it and then one day full pull 🤘🤘🤘
Keep rockin it mate, I'm recently back into the MTB mix as of last October, loving it - And after another trip around the sun, turned 64 in January... \m/
Hell Yes Brother!!!!!! So stoked youre back into it🤟 SEND OR DIE!!!
This is the way 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👊👊👊👊👊👊keep going my friend
I love how mountain biking is as much fear management as it is skill set. It creates an opportunity for us to embrace a vulnerable part of us that wants to stay protected, and then choose to shatter those limitations that we inherently set for ourselves. Thanks for the vid brother. I just turned 41, have a career and a family. If anything I take the calculated risks I take, to remind myself that life will always be about forward movement and not staying stagnant.
Cheers to that my brother. Risk vs reward is something to think about every time I go out. But after 4 times, I knew it was time to complete.
well said
Good on you for talking about what we all struggle with. Inspirational.
Thanks man. It’s the other part of this sport nobody talks about
Great video Erik, you're never too old to have fun on the bike, you rocked that trail bro, despite a few crashes you didn't let it stop you from jumping the river gap, it was scary.
Thank you so much Sage!!! Ya this trail is a doozy. And I know you are familiar with AZ trails too. Can’t wait to see your podcast.
Dude, you are a big reason I am as good as I am. (Always a student!)
You taught me to throw fear out the window and (intelligently) attempt new features.
Thanks broskie!! Progression is the best Keep going brother. You’ll be there 👊🤘
Rad my dude! Killed that gap!
Thanks my guy 🫶
That is a crazy trail. Stoked for you. I think the best motivator is having good friends to do it with. It makes all of the difference.
Couldn't agree more! Having the homies there makes it worth it🤙
March 31st I turn 60 and I have been riding since the middle of the 90s.
Great Video Man,feel you! Cheer's from Italy! 48 years old.Keep sending it like that
Heeeeyyyy thanks my friend!!!! Cheers to 48!! How is the riding out there?
Love that trail! Never to old to shred!
That’s what’s up
I would move back to AZ just to try to get some riding in with y’all! Great video and stoke shared here. It feels amazing to conquer those lines that baffled you once before. When before we were hanging on for dear life and sketchy as hell and eventually learn to stay with the bike, to lean and jib, progression is so much fun. Cheers!
Cheers to that my dude!! When the skills kick in, that’s when the fun begins!!! So stoked to have gotten this far in four years🤘🤘🤘
Great riding. I’m 48 and still out working on trails and building jumps. All my riding buddies have quit so now I ride with my kids.
That’s badass bro. And riding with the kids is awesome. I’m waiting for my kid to get better so I can take her on the trails

“As long as you land it, you’re good” 😂 - just found your channel and this video has me hooked. Great job man! I’m 38 and I can relate to this whole video. Keep pedaling bro!
Thanks my dude 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘. Lockers to being 38 and starting. That’s when I started. Hope you enjoy the shenanigans cause they ain’t gonna stop 😂😂👍
Hell ya bro!!! Summit is my jam. That place gave me so much confidence. Hopefully I’ll see you out there this season 🤘🤘🤘
Wow that GoPro effect is real, glad we get to see it from 3rd person. Nice job
Thanks my dude!! ya the gopro lies all day ahahaha
What a class A+ production video. Your mountain biking skills have improved immensely so has your video editing skills. I'll try to remember what you said in this video as I'm almost 50 years old. Way to send it! 💪🏼👊🏼
Thank you for the kind words my friend. Been working on all the skills on and off the bike. Hoping to shred some gnarly stuff this season.
Why?
Man thats a real bummer. maybe your bike needs a solid tune up🤷♂️
@RydenDirty I contacted Trek surport. They said my bike is intended for road trail riding only. Ok, now I know I will pump the bump and not try and jump it. Save up for a full suspension bike.
there you go my man @@Bemark100
Ha! I’m 59 - the fear and challenge is what gets me stoked! Send it!
yes bro!!!!! me too. the fear is what makes me want to keep going.
Right on amigo - great video and riding. Trail looks real!
Hell ya thanks for the advice bro 🤘🤘
Awesome riding. That looks like a cool place
Definitely a dope ride
Nope.. I started at 50. Don’t let other people tell you that you are to young to old. Go reach your goals and make yourself happy… the ones c;latest to you are the ones that hold you back more than anybody. And didn’t remy hit a like with a 70 year old lady last year…

Honestly this is the response I like to see. A shredder who’s older than me and still out there killing it. I appreciate people like you my friend 🙏
just found your channel really awesome..
But at least you’re out there 👊
Thanks so much ...fun channel to watch you guys having a laugh all together...yeah this getting old is no fun my head thinks I'm 18 still and im 53 but having some good times on the bike just wish I could do more than I can
It is funny how you think of the consequences now in our 50’s that did not cross our mind at 20 lol
@@bud1lite dude that’s a big fact

Bro, I'm 54, trying to do this stuff now. Hit a feature in Sedona this past weekend that scared the crap out of me. Great video.
Hell ya that’s what I’m saying. I did a climb last weekend at the festival and I wasn’t last. That’s huge for me !!! I know how you feel bro 🤘
What, we don't need disabled men 😅
Love it! Nice work out there.
Thanks Erick 🤘🤘
I ride BD every couple of months. Thank you for this video. I showed me some cool lines I want to try.
Hell ya my dude let’s session it one day🤘
First time seeing your channel, enjoyed the video.
Nice work. I feel you all too! i am 50 and do this crap all the time, lol. Hard getting over fears at this age.
That’s the truth my friend. Cheers to us older guys out there getting 🤘

Started less than a year ago and I'm about to turn 50. I've been hitting jump parks and black diamond trails with no prior experience. Stay lose, be confident, and watch plenty of tutorials. Good Bless
That’s awesome!!! Thanks for the tips my man 🤙🤙🤙
Eric, i was 52 and just getting over covid when i saw you at bean peaks.
y'aint too old. just maybe forced to chill over time, with age. i still hit the jump lines at NRA. boulderdash is a pita for anyone, any age. love that trail, hate that trail.
not sure i'll ever get the big gap send at Pure-O (near the very end) but dammit, i wanna . i really wanna.
Yo I remember you bro. As long I keep going I guess. Ya that pure O drop is a doozy. I still haven’t done it
Confidence comes from knowing proper execution, but if you get sketched out on some feature the execution goes out the window.
I struggled with this for quite awhile.
thanks for the tips my dude. im gonna have to ry some of that stuff next time 🤙
sounds like i need to practice more 👍
@@RydenDirty Naw, man.
Cheers!
That is a gnarly trail!!! Great job brother!
Thanks big J. It really is a gnarly trail 😳
It’s all about fun. When it’s not things happen. Been riding and racing for 36 years sometimes you’re on the podium and sometimes you’re not. 😊 Happy Trails.
Agreed broskie!, if you’re not having fun it’s not worth it. That’s why I learn to call it quits sometimes

Way to get it done Eric!
Thanks Ken Dawg!!!!
At 54 I think “Is it worth doing this?” . I raced MX in my 20s - 30s. So maybe used up all my sendings. 🤷🏻♂️😂
The best way I learned to do jumps back in MX days was have a buddy slightly better than me and let them lead me into a jump.
Great point! I think having the tow in makes all the difference
🤘🏿😎
Thanks for the advice Harvey. It’s definitely something I need to consider out there while I’m risking it 🤘👊
Enjoyed the ride, still working on that trail❤❤❤

Four of the six features in your into are features I really want to try but haven't quite got the will to commit to yet.
Ya they are definitely challenging for me. I’m glad I finally got them. Hope you get them dude

Hahahahah JOEY!! You the man. I love that you sneak up out of nowhere and do some crazy ass shit. Love you my guy 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Relatable, keep on going
Thanks brochacho 🤘🤘🤘
Never too old. I'm 60 and rode more black trails last year than ever. Just be smart.
Fuk yes my dude🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Not too old bro! We need to go ride together 🤘
For sure!! we really do bro
We all seem to live in mesa AZ, I am et Ellsworth and southern, Usery pass mountain is just a fey miles from me. South mountain I have been there 500 times at least.
Nice right in your backyard!!
It's at least best to be honest with ourself and try to do what we love for ourself and nobody else.
honestly i have to agree with you. dont want to impress anyone else. but i really like challenging myself to the next level. its an addiction for me.
Looks like PHX, which trail. We will have to ride when I come down.

@RydenDirty lol Arizona looks like a blast to ride I'm double nickel July Sun keep Riding.

From what I can see in your takes it looks like not setting up the departure correctly, too much pulling on the bars instead of using legs, and maybe too much air in your tires? Those are just some observations, If you've addressed all, please pass over this. Stay strong and determined!
Theres a difference between feeling young Or holding onto Youth. This is the latter 😅
And it feels great. What’s funny though is I physically and mentally feel younger now. When I was in my 20s I was a drinker and out of shape. Now I’m healthier and physically stronger.
You are still a kid at 42. Just keep riding.
Cheers to that brother🤘🤘🤘
Great f in video
Thanks for being in it brother
Live to ride another day

Fuk yes Robert!!! No naysayers allowed LETS GOOOOOOO🤘🤘🤘🤘
I started mountain biking with my brother in law last year. He is 54 and I was 65. Pace yourself. I prefer gravel in the woods.
It's great to bond over mountain biking with family members! gravel is fun too. i have a YT szepter.
you haven't even snapped the vizor off the helmet yet, there's more fun to unlock.
Hahahah not yet that’s on level 10 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Seen this meme the other day. It said MTB is just middleaged men trying to relive their teen years
That’s a fact or we can just afford it now lol
@@RydenDirty 😂 probably the later
Thanks for the tips my dude. thats awesome that you raced thats a whole other level!!!
Dude, 42 is nothing! I'm 56 and hope to have a lot of riding ahead of me.
I feel the same way my dude
You won't have fear if you don't ride like a teenager doing kamakazi downhills . i've been riding off road since 1958 and still have no interest in what is called mountain biking today . i'll ride a few really easy flow trails but mostly i keep my wheels on the ground and enjoy the scenery and fresh air . i have zero interest in speed but still enjoy my self immensely. oh , i'm 78 .
you do have a good point my good sir. I hope i can ride when im your age.
