- A coyote attacked and bit a child walking with a parent in a Moraga neighborhood Tuesday morning, and authorities were trying to determine if it is the same one responsible for other attacks in the Lamorinda area. Don Ford reports. (2/16/21)
They will just arrested the coyote and release him on zero bail. He will reoffend

I saw two coyotes in my Richmond neighborhood in the other night. I was observing within my car following them a bit. They were so tactically keen. Definitely scared to walk in the night around my neighborhood for a while.

The news should also warn viewers unprovoked attacks by animals warrant checking for rabies at minimum. For those who may not know.

@@cryptoshi9636 When we encroach on their habitat, they get forced to be closer to people and some can lose their fear, or if someone has been feeding it it would get used to humans. That coyote in the video looked healthy, but the people probably still need to get rabies shots just in case.
This is why you always carry a weapon. As humans were so complacent with being the top predator that when things like this happen there’s nothing but fear in the community. These were completely preventable, stay vigilant, and aware of your surroundings.

I've lived in areas with coyotes and have crossed paths with them. They've ignored me. These attacks on adults are unusual.
+YA same here... except in the last two years, I've had problems. You should see how badly our trees have declined in two years compared to the last 20 years. You should see the amount of dead bees in the ground everyday. The massive massive amount of metal & chemicals they spray in the air above us day & night.
There's no way it's not affecting the animals as well.

I hope that child is going to be ok but why are people so shocked that this happens to them? Especially after how many coyote attacks in that area? Theres another predator out there too. Mountain lions. You gotta carry something folks. Especially with kids or small dog.

A coyote was stalking me today in Danville. I had to ran up to some people who scared it away.
I don't know how you are go about life when a coyote sees you as easy prey. Like, you should never bé relaxed with a child, as a Guardian. Hope the child recovers well and all but damn, be aware of your area and stay tough folks.

I have been seeing them more and more when I drive home at midnight.There was one in the Daly. In and out burger parking lot the other night. They seem les afraid of humans than they used to be. They are getting bold

They are an invasive species in a large portion of the USA…Here we shoot coyotes but we don’t hunt them. They stay away….
Hazing is the best way to deter coyotes from becoming comfortable around people.
Get bear spray. It will make things a lot easier on you. Hunting them down isn't hard if you carry a hand gun, and they come toward you, unless you're too squeamish to kill the coyote, and let it go maul some other person's child, or pet. They breed at such a fast rate that once they are causing problems them the numbers of them are out of control. These game commissioners, and wildlife biologist are not worth their pay. We have one running our back property, and it won't be much longer.
Humans breed at a faster rate and are an even bigger pest developing all the land so they can breed more. Leave wildlife alone, it's not their fault humans are breeding out of control. They're just going after something that they see so many of.
This is when I would go into ninja mode!

They’re everywhere nowadays. Over in Glendale, CA they’re walking around during the day without a care in the world. I saw one on my walk and it tried to come near me. Luckily I was wearing fairly thick gloves so I wasn’t too worried about having to fight it. I started running after it and it ran off into someone’s yard. I guess if you show them that your not afraid to pursue them they’ll leave you alone 🤷♂️
About 40 years ago a coyote killed an unattended 3 year old in the yard up on Chevy Chase.

Me & my doggie were attacked recently, in Nevada. I don't hate on the animals, I understand they are desperately hungry. It's difficult for all involved. The metal & chemicals sprayed over us everyday... I often wonder what it's doing to them. Bees are dying like crazy, our trees have declined more in the last two years than in the last 15.

Wildlife management: Coyotes are in a class of least concern, rising population. In other words, as far from endangered as you can get. They can be found all over North America and their population is estimated at being at an all-time high.
California law makers: thou shalt never, ever touch a coyote, it's your fault for living where they want to live, against the law to protect yourself from them in any fashion that impedes on their ability to freely roam around your home, where your kids play, your pets walk, etc.
Just saw one in my backyard late one night here in a suburb outside of Atlanta. There's a pack of them in the woods near my house. Can hear them from far off yapping and crying some nights. It's a shame that wildlife mgmt won't take action BEFORE someone (or my pet) gets attacked!

People don't realize most dogs are no match for wild animals like coyotes, you need a large mastiff or Belgian Malinois to scare them away. We used to live in the high desert of Mojave, our neighbor's large Akita was torn to pieces by a mountain lion

Even at the zoo wolves and mountain lions will look at my 5 year old while licking their lips and stalking her while I’m right next to her. COVID-19 has made it that zoo animals don’t see humans all that much. They are predators and they have been fed. Perhaps this coyote was hungry... be wary of all wild animals. If you see one out and about Don’t go outside.

This advice is not optimal. If they are not threatened, they will see your house as safe. That doesn't mean going out there to fight, but you enter be prepared to detur

I work in the desert and see coyotes all the time. This isn't normal coyote behavior. If I had to guess, I'd say the coyote is injured or impaired and can't hunt regular prey

I had two attack me and my dog here in Nevada recently.
What I did is stomp.
Once I picked up my dog & got a couple feet & their started stalking me I stared them down & stomped my feet so are they hurt for hours afterwards.
I stared them down as if I had a fk'n gun & screamed as loud as I could NO & stomped. Then slowly backed away until I could get away.
My dog got hurt pads from me dragging her unexpectedly all of a sudden but other than that it's all good.
It has to come from within you, you HAVE TO be ready, fight!
They can feel the energy.
They sized me up & knew if they came for me I'd give them the fk'n fight of their life👍🏼

People need to please quit feeding the Coyotes no matter how hungry you think they look. They are wild and not the same as domesticated dogs. It does not help them in any way. Instead feeding them causes them to lose their natural fear of people AND conditions them to see people as a source to obtaining food. This behavior ultimately leads to them being put down and it endangers people. Let the Coyotes feed themselves.

There were coyotes everywhere in Afghanistan. When we did morning or night pt, my battles and I always had our m4's with at least 2 40 round magazines which equaled 120 rounds of ammunition..plus I'm an eagle eye shooter! Safe to say, no coyote ever tried attacking me, which was good because I love animals especially dogs and would hate to have to harm one but I sure would have before it attacked me!

bruh, the mom looks like shes in her late 40s near 50. Bay area women really having kids late. By the time her kid turns 20 she will be near or at 70 and unless the child gets married and has kids early may not be around to see her grand children.

How come our government officials wait until somebody gets seriously hurt or killed before they do anything about it! In our neighborhood we complain all the time we even have videos! Unfortunately we’ve lost four chickens and one family pet. Our city or state won’t do anything about it and I’ve been warned that if I do catch or hurt one of the coyotes I will be fine and possibly thrown in jail. Screw that I got a gun. Next coyote I see in my yard is going to be introduced to it.
