- This month's Australian Health Journal is a bumper DOUBLE EPISODE with a special report on mental health. Watch interviews from
- Bipolar Australia as part of last month's bipolar awareness day on 30th March, launch of the "Coming Home with Bipolar" booklet with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt MP. Separately launched also with NSW Mental Health Commission's Commissioner Catherine Lourey
- Westmead Institute for Medical Research hosting a community awareness day, on World Bipolar Day to talk about current research including into finding biomarkers in identify bipolar mood disorder, with a panel discussion.
- Conviction Group, a registered charity that delivers programs on health and well being for young men, has psychiatrist Dr Jason Pace as the Chair. Australian Health Journal was invited to one of Conviction Groups Youth Forums, attended by year 10 school boys to discuss important issues on mental health and resilience. The Resilience Centre's clinical psychologist Lyn Worsely also spoke about the challenges for this cross-section with reference to relationships and the The Resilience Doughnut - Combining Strengths to Thrive
- Treating mental health issues around addiction and substance abuse, The TARA Clinic's Tara Hurster, a registered psychologist spoke to AHJ about anxiety, depression and stress in the workplace.
- Lysn is changing the way psychologists are helping clients with mental health issues through telehealth. Their web based platform currently has over 150 registered psychologists available through secure video to deliver consultations across Australia at a time and location convenient for the patient.
Balancing the special report on mental health is a segment on the Australian Doctors Orchestra (ADO). Having recently celebrated it's 25th year anniversary, the ADO has over the years given doctors and other medical professional another reason to work outside the clinic and operating theatre. Last year's concert raised $60k for Huntington's NSW & ACT, and reflects the health related causes the ADO raises funds for at each concert performance. These performances and the talent as well as passion of these doctors is shown in our segment.
Lastly, in this month's episode is a People Profile on Nutan Srivastava the inspiration behind TRED College. The organisation is addressing the health care skills gap in Australian across areas of nursing, pathology and dental assistants. Nutan is taking the Australian standards of nursing care and pathology to students in training centres in Sri Lanka and India to improve their own standards of care within their country as well as those wanting to migrate with these skills to Australia. Her expansion plans are ambitious with further centres planned in Eastern Europe and Canada. Nutan is truly an ambassador for Australian healthcare standards of care being adopted by other countries.

For monitoring diabetes, I use Freestyle Libre sensor with BluCon NightRider and able to get glucose values on my watch without the phone and without scanning the sensor.
