Miss Buncle ‘s Book is very good. I think there are three in the series. She’s a booktube favorite on the comfort read channels🥰. As is Elizabeth Von Arnim. 💗
Some great finds Catherine! I’ve read one Freeman Wills Croft, The 12.30 from Croydon which I enjoyed and I really enjoyed Father too, I’ve only read that one and Vera by her but enjoyed them both, though Vera is quite odd and The Enchanted April is one of my favorite films ever 😍
Father by Elizabeth vonArnim (1931) was a pleasant surprise when I was completing a personal challenge to read a book published every year in the 20th century. Hope you enjoy it too!
I enjoyed seeing your books! You will enjoy the Miss Buncle book, I think. Miss Buncle Married is all good and very hilarious. Oh, and Father is another favorite of mine! Enjoy your summer reading!
Great haul! I need to check out Armadillo's Pillow. Father is one of my favorite books by von Arnim, and the colors in the cover match your hair ornament--I'm sure it's a good sign! Good to know that the Book Cellar carries British Women Writers. I think you will love E. H. Young. "Radstowe" of her books is based on Bristol, England and the great Clifton suspension bridge figures prominently in the book. The Misses Mallet, William and especially Miss Mole are my favorites. I read The Wanderer some years ago; it is long, but it has so many important things to say about the treatment of women at that time; it will be worth the effort. I've enjoyed many of D. E. Stevenson's books, especially the ones set in Scotland. You may be able to find her books at your library--I'm reading through her works now and quite a few of them are available at the Chicago Public Library, so I'm sure NY should have a respectable selection. Fun video & hope you keep cool & have a good JA July. (And glad the weather cooperated for you, but I'm sure Bonnie can confirm that we've gotten our share of blistering weather lately.)❤
I really enjoy the British Crime Library books! I've only got a few on my shelf and I hope to acquire a few more. 😬 I am slowly working my way through the Shardlake series and I need to get back to it. You know, I downloaded Christopher Fowler's Full Dark House to my Kindle after hearing both you and Janelle talk about it. I have yet to read it, but now that you've rattled my cage, I'll move it up on my _list!_ 🤓 So glad you enjoyed your time in Chicago, thanks for sharing! ❤
I need the British Crime Library book. The peculiar crime series reminds me of Janelle who loves them. They have been on my TBR for a long time. Aloha.
I think you should read The 10 Second Staircase 1st bc that's probably what you'll enjoy the most. But then, Father or Miss Buncle's Book so we can discuss 😘
I thought you bought the William Marshall book at Armadillo's Pillow, but I'm not sure. Also, Henry the VIII's Progress to the North is the word you were looking for, right? ❤

@kathleencraine7335 Surprisingly NY Public Library is missing a lot of great writers! At least the collections are spotty.

What a great haul, so many interesting picks! 😄♥️ I’m going to try Fowler! I’m waiting on the next CJ Sansom.
