I just found out today that he died. He had a good run. But i was still really sad he has gone. His films have a magic about them that warm us all up inside. We will always have that at least.

I still miss Dean Jones, even though it has been nearly 2 years since his passing. He was the live-action star of the company when Walt Disney was still alive and understood his audience. A wonderful and thoroughly christian man in real life too.

Dean pitched a comedy about auto racing to Walt Disney in 1966(shortly before Walt's death). That story evolved into The Love Bug which was one of the last films Walt greenlit. I think Walt would have been proud of that little VW Beetle and how iconic Herbie has become.
What was not mentioned about Jones is that during his career in Hollywood, he was also prominent in the Hollywood Christian community which included Pat Boone, Jane Russell, Connie Haines, among others. I think that community also included Rhonda Fleming, a Mormon. Condolences to family, church, friends and fans. You had a good run, Dean!
When we ( large military family) lived in Turkey, Mr. Jones came To Turkey to watch a musical 🎶 the drama 🎭 club was putting on. The drama club was invited to Spain on the recommendation of Mr. Jones. This was in 1972.

The Herbie movies were my favorite movies as a child, so Dean was like a hero to me! May he rest in peace!

When I think of classic Disney, Dean Jones usually is the first to pop into my head, along with Fess Parker and Annette Funicello
