Yes, the startup cycle does take a bit of time so you would need a tank. We have had clients connect the system to a pressure switch and then just fit a 100L pressurized buffer tank in line and it seems to work well. However, you will get a lower mineral content if you let the system run for longer periods of time as the mineral content takes a while to get down to normal operating conditions.

It would work but that is something that you remove in your prefiltration already.

Yes, it can use a wide range of feed water but you will get better yields and longer membrane life if you first soften hard water with a softener.
