- Welcome to my Definitive Guide to Weather Map Analysis! In this multi-part series, we'll take a deep dive into how to properly analyze weather data at each important level of the atmosphere, a foundational skill of weather forecasting. By the end of this series, you should be able to analyze a weather map by hand and identify notable features that can impact a given storm environment.
In this video (Part 3), I walk you through a full surface analysis example, including how to draw isobars and how to properly identify and place significant surface features, such as surface lows and fronts.

Absolutely fantastic, Trey! Between this series and Tim Vasquez's "Weather Analysis and Forecasting" book, I feel like things are really starting to come together. His book can be a difficult read at times (goes into thermodynamics and basic physics). Very grateful for your work, Trey! Take care!! Oh yeah! Definitely remember the Lutgens and Tarbuck!!

I have been in soooo many books, tried sooo many websites and videos, but all gave disconnected pieces; "this is what a symbol means...this is what happens when cold air meets hot air...this is the direction rising air spins....ya-da ya-da." Still had endless gaps and fell short of laying a full picture of meteorology and how the parts of a weather map work together and how a knowledgeable person ENTERS and WORKS THROUGH data to make sense of it. OHHH MYYY GOSSSH----at last!!!

We thank you for your time and work, we can note that your tutorials are helpful. We can also note that some of the surface weather features such as double barrels, inversions and the rockies ranges and surface trough lines may need further explanations regarding surface front formation which may add to the quality of your information.
