    Why does “Scotland is still in the UK…for now” sound like a thinly veiled threat that Dave is going to single-handedly remove British control from Scotland.

      British control... that about explains the situation

      Yes, in my next vlog episode I’m going to roll all the boulders I’ve found to the English border to make a giant wall and leave all the best projects on them facing north.

    Seeing the actual joy in the mans face over finding an overhanging bit of rock is awesome.
    A man and his work...always worth watching.

    That 7B looks rad.
    I've spent a summer looking for new lines, without much success. Often if you find a bloc it's hidden in the boreal forest beyond a tedious approach with problems consisting of 2 moves haha.
    Hope to come across one by just looking out the car window someday.

      Yes scouting for new stuff is so random. I've done loads missioning and finding stuff I would not even bother to take my shoes out for. And then other times just finding really nice stuff just next to a popular path.

    Loved it. On the same theme, I remember seeing Paul Pritchard say at a lecture that we hadn't done one-quarter of the routes available in the UK yet.

    Very cool, looked fun. There's still new problems to be found! Did a couple of nice (easy) ones in North Wales this summer on a block I'd spotted years ago and finally walked back to and cleaned, so satisfying.

    Off topic but I found this very interesting and kinda funny:
    I just read that Scotland is rising (3mm/year), because of past glacier loss (~10000 years ago) , while England is sinking (2mm/year). :D
    (Source: Mark Maslin - Climate Change - A Very Short Introduction / Oxford University Press ... great book!)
    Oh ... and great lines and video as always!! Scotland is definitely on my bucket list and you are the reason for it.

    I love seeing the process of creating new lines. Just one question. We are often told not to use wire brushes on rock. Are there exceptions to this rule?

    • @climbermacleod
      @climbermacleod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not a rule. But I would avoid on soft rock.

    Dave- what temperature do you typically consider too cold for bouldering?

    • @climbermacleod
      @climbermacleod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on wind and sun really. But in shade below minus 5 is maybe a bit hard going. In sunshine I don’t think I’ve ever come across temps too cold.
