Hey Liz! Just watched the tag diy and just wanted to let you know the vinyl goes on SOOOOO much easier if you coat it with poly acrylic or polyurethane before putting the vinyl on after staining since the stain is usually oil based. That’s why the vinyl doesn’t stick :)
@@kls01013 you actually coat your piece of wood with the polyacrylic or polyurethane (make sure it is water based) about 20/30 minutes BEFORE you even apply the vinyl. Then it gives the vinyl something easier to stick to! :) stain is usually oil based so the vinyl doesn’t like to stick to that. So my using the water based poly it helps :)

Just a tip, when I have difficulty getting any vinyl to stick. Use a hairdryer and heat it up a bit. It activates the adhesive on the vinyl. Then after I get the contact paper off I do it again and you'll be able to see that it's sticking to the wood grain. If I want a permanent hold, I'll paint on some poly acrylic topcoat.
I've decided I'm not going to get my old decorations out this year and just use the new things I create. Not many people will be at house this year, so I'm going to give myself a break from my usual decorating....except for the tree, of course!

I picked up 2 matching wooden boxes with old florals. I have a long dining table. I love the idea of putting trees into the boxes rather than florals...Thanks for the idea.
Quick tip, oil based stain has to cure for at least 24 hours for vinyl to stick. That’s why I mainly use water based stain. But, Special Walnut is my favorite too.

I remember that Dollar Tree had those metal Hallmark hanging buckets about 20 years ago. I bought 6 of them and they unfortunately were all destroyed in a flood in my craft room. Mine were metallic, berry red. I was so sad to lose those!!!
My mom gave me that same exact metal card holder. She gave me a box full of things to try and make a little nicer. I had no idea what to do to it until now 👍

Just discovered your channel. These are some awesome ways to re-purpose items which I think couldn't be more important today with so much stuff everyone has. I'm fortunate I live in the country and have natural boughs, berries and pinecones to use. Great ideas!
Love love loveeeee!!!! I'm so addicted to your channel now! These are also amazing!! My fav thing to incorporate in my decor is texture!! Lots of texture so I love using spackle, caulking..all the things!!
When I want to have black stand out like you did in the little basket, I paint the item black first, spray it with polycrylic and then with the white paint. I let them dry between coats and then I sand the raised areas to bring that black back out. *Note: I don't spray the white directly on the black because that seems to bond them and then the black comes off when I sand it. The polycrylic seals the black in so that it stays when I sand away the white.

Liz, I have a suggestion. On your cutting board you put your ribbon on with the seam in the back of the project. If I am using a embellishment I always put the seam in the front then I put the embellishment over it. The embellishment hides the seam and the ribbon looks like it has no seam.. You channel is one of my favorites. Keep crafting and keep up the good work.

Sled makeover was my favorite. So simple but the transformation really made it look high end and contemporary.
