This is one of my favorite gospel songs...I've loved it all of my life...I love to hear the Gaithers sing it. I have just learned that it was written by Dr Bennie Triplett. It's beautiful...words and music!
This was a song my Father and my Mother sang together many times. The Blackwood Brothers came to Ada, Ok at the First Assembly of God Church and sang this song. The group came to our home and my Mother fixed dinner for everyone. J.D. Summers saw my Cushman Scooter and wanted to ride it so I started it and he drove it through the neighbors fins.
One of the absolutely most beautiful & best cover versions is sung by Rev. Roosevelt Miller (of the outstanding "Ministers Trio" fame, Cleveland, TN.) Dr Bennie Triplett wrote the words & music to "How About Your Heart" in 1954. then sold it to the Blackwood Brothers.
how about your heart? is it right with God? would you ask Christ in today? is it black with sin? or is it pure within? would you ask Christ in to stay? people often see you as you are outside Jesus really knows you for he looks inside how about your heart? is it right with God? that's the thing that count today friend how would you feel if your heart were made with a window on each side? so that all could see not just outward charm but detect if inward harm people often see you as you are outside Jesus really know you for he looks inside how about your heart? is it right with God? that's the thing that count today that's the thing that count today How do you get right with God? Can your righteous acts change your heart? No, no one can be good enough to be right with God. You must believe Jesus paid your debt. "For the wages of sin is death, But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

I enjoy Larry’s amazing gift
This is one of my favorite Homecoming memories. What a great song and duet.
Great stuff. You must have been chuffed. He was a good hearted soul, for sure. Good memory to have.
How about your heart is it right with God that's the count today

Wow! Love it!
how about your heart?
is it right with God?
would you ask Christ in today?
is it black with sin?
or is it pure within?
would you ask Christ in to stay?
people often see you
as you are outside
Jesus really knows you
for he looks inside
how about your heart?
is it right with God?
that's the thing that count today
friend how would you feel
if your heart were made
with a window on each side?
so that all could see
not just outward charm
but detect if inward harm
people often see you
as you are outside
Jesus really know you
for he looks inside
how about your heart?
is it right with God?
that's the thing that count today
that's the thing that count today
How do you get right with God?
Can your righteous acts
change your heart?
No, no one can be good enough
to be right with God.
You must believe Jesus paid your debt.

Why does my hymnal have the first and second verses swapped?
Can I get a copy of that??
