Me watching all these Etsy shops making thousands of dollars and meanwhile, the only sales my shop gets is from friends. I’ve done all the strategies everything. I haven’t quite hit 100 listings yet feels like I’m just wasting my time.
Well one of the strategies is to get to 500-1000 listings so you haven't quite tried them all yet ;) I know it's a lot of work but if it was just super easy and simple then everyone would be rich already. This really is a business that I recommend getting obsessed with and really taking the time research what is working for others and then test test test coming up with your own versions of what works until you find what works for you!
I’m in the same page no sales I’m a nurse have. 9-5 I get home and I spend all my hours there plus the weekends I’ve put a lot of hours and nothing one sale here another there nothing like theirs 😢
I pay $600/month for an Etsy course and feel like I get more information from you… thank you for all of the tutorials and advice. Really appreciated ❤️
I can say as a customer before researching how to sell on Etsy. I used to always click off of a listing once I go purchase an item only to find out it’s a bit more expensive than what it’s says before clicking the listing. So idk if it’s just me or people just don’t care to spend more time looking so they just spend the money. But I won’t expect a return customer after that. But to each their own. I dont want customers to buy something out of buying fatigue and they just need something and don’t feel I like looking anymore and be the ‘lemme just get this so I can be done’
This is really great. A lot of challenges here. I appreciate your advise to do scalable designs that are based on research - not just designs created for the sake of being able to scale them. I've created a few of these in Canva and then, after 50 or so variations, got so tired of the design myself that I did not move forward with posting them all - felt like such a HUGE task. I do plan to revisit that, however, as you are suggesting it as a winning strategy this year. If you do a tutorial on scalable designs, would you also kindly address overcoming the mental hurdle of SO MANY LISTINGS to do? lol... thank you for your great videos.
Yes for sure that is a problem that a lot of people face for sure!! One exciting thing is that I haven't officially announced yet but I am about to release a software that I've been working on that is going to automate the mockup process for you, so that should make it a lot less overwhelming hopefully. It will grab the designs from Printify, put them on your mockups, and then you will publish them all to Etsy at once! So more to come in a few weeks. We are starting beta testing with my course students next week and then depending on how that goes I should be launching it in the beginning of October
Hi, Cassiy! Thanks again for another super helpful video! I wonder if you could do a video on pricing, specifically how to be able to afford 50-70% off?? I get that they are marking up there items to compensate for the sale, but even then their usual prices for T-shirts are often just around $17 for up to a large, which is not a lot. I’ve marked mine up to try this, but I have to sell them for more than $17 and the max I feel I can mark down in a sale is 15-20% and still make a decent profit. 🤔 Unless they’re cool with making a buck a shirt, but at a 50-70% discount, I’d be paying THEM to buy my products. What am I missing? Thanks so much. And btw, you have excellent karma for helping so many people so generously with all of this great, free information xx just saying.
Totally get where you are coming from! I will break down one of the specific stores on the list and tell you exactly what they are doing so you can see what it looks like This store sells Bella Canvas 3001 shirts + Kids shirts + Sweatshirts and Hoodies in one listing They have over 6,000 sales in their first 5 months Loss Leader: $9.60 Baby Bodysuit Bell Canvas Shirt: Size Large $27 - 40% off = $16.20 + $5.91 Shipping = 22.11 total sales price Printify Cost for shirt (With printify premium) = 13.87 including shipping = $5.69 Profit per shirt after Etsy fees I definitely recommend going and doing your own research on this and really studying what other sellers are doing to be successful and which ones are using strategies that you could also be successful with. Some sellers make the items themselves so they have cheaper product costs, don't compare yourself to them. Find successful stores like this one that you can be successful learning from!
Thanks for your reply, Cassiy! That does help, and I’ve taken notes. I do do a lot of research, sometimes too much and I drain myself which takes away from my design time. Still learning that balance. Have a good one!
Poodle! Your videos have been so helpful. I’m one of those with 9-6 and it’s taking me a lot of time to design and understand what niches mean and designs that work 😢

Sorry definitely didn't want you to feel that way from this video, everyone is on their own journey but I hope you took even one thing away from this video that might help you!
@melaniegreen1311 I believe in you Melanie! I truly know how difficult it can be to invest time and energy into your shop. If you have a goal in mind, take smaller steps to move the needle every day, it really is about consistency. I knew it wasn't going to be easy when I first opened my shop but I told myself to really give it my all for 6 months (new sellers usually give up by the 3rd month). Do your research before posting so that you know it's in high demand and then start designing. I have about 180 active listings and hit over 1,000 in sales so far. You have time to research for the upcoming holidays!
@@CassiyJohnson oh don't be sorry! I thought it was sweet that you picked poodle! She was a toy, only 9 pounds, the smaller ones live a little longer. ❤️
Wow, I love this video!! Thank you so much, you have saved me tons of time with these informations bc I was about to do this analysis myself as a beginner. By the way, I have a question if you don‘t mind :) I have my store since 2019 but I stopped at 50 products after having one sale and went into hiatus until 2 months ago. Then I made about 90 new products and had another sale but that‘s it. I use almost all strategies you named in today‘s video but it doesn‘t seem to take off still. Do you think it has to do with my store being too old and too long in hiatus? Should I better start a new store? Again thank you so much for your super valuable content ❤🤗
This video is useful for me. Thank you so much! I wanna sell POD on Etsy, just don't know what the best provider can integrate with Etsy. Any suggestion?
Hi Casey, you have a video on white hex codes to use and it helped me so much! I’m wondering if you could do a video on Hex codes to use for different colors. For instance, what is the perfect orange or royal blue to use? I do a lot of personalized sports tees with team colors and my royal blue looks perfect on screen but customers say it comes out kind of light. I darkened in a little bit but on the printify mockup it’s looks kind of dark to me. Any advice is appreciated. Also does anyone have issues with athletic grey shirts??? I feel like at least a third of my customers who order grey shirts are not happy with the print coloring.
Hi Cassiy, Thank you for this superb video! You are talking about the popularity of Christian shirts, can you tell more about trademarks on bible quotes? Can they even be trademarked?
Etsy question! I’m already selling stickers I make on Etsy and ship them myself. Can I just keep those listings the same and ship those myself and add listings that printify will ship to my store? I’m assuming they would get two shipments, one from me and another from the printer if they ordered a sticker and say a mug from printify together in the same order? Would the sticker show up as a separate order for me to print label/ship myself?
Also putting up 100 listings a month is filling the marketplace with junk, makes more competition for keywords making it harder for you and everyone else to rank. Instead make good original designs and maybe get up to like 200-300 listings. It also eats up ad spend and gives you less chance to reach front pages bc the CEO said he doesn't want the same shops on the front page more then once. Think smarter, not more.
Yes that's definitely why I said to find a way to stay make well researched designs, not just slap up anything that works. But I think these sellers really show what it takes to find those successful designs! If you can get it done with less listings then awesome, some of these stores had less for sure but I think the average is pretty telling!
I have never done KDP before so I can't give you a fair comparison on that. I'd say Etsy really likely takes minimum 2-3 months to really start making a good profit usually.
I think some of this wouldn't work if Etsy put any effort into cleaning up listings so strategies that would be illegal offline are not suddenly legal online. Until then the best strategy will always be stealing other people's work and copyrights.
If you have your own brand name and wish to sell t-shirts for example on Etsy, would you suggest to include or exclude the name of the brand on your shirts/products?
Etsy typically is a place where customers are coming to buy specific items for gifts etc, no one knows your brand yet and likely isn't coming there to buy your brand so I would say to leave your brand name off of it but you could pay the extra money to have your logo printed as the tag on the neck if you wanted to try to grow that brand recognition! I also think it's a good idea to pay for the thank you cards that printify sends and offer a discount code on the next purchase! Here is a video where I cover how and why to do that if you're interested! th-cam.com/video/RD1LqxMSKBk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SAqvmyTzZ0z605YU
When you say 3-5 listings a day or 100 listings are you meaning 100% different listing designs? Same design, but Scaled out to make multiple listings (different niche) or same listing/SEO but different thumbnails? And or A/B testing on same listing? I am confused on what you mean about 100+ listings. Also, would that also mean add same design on different products (if it makes sense) t-shirt, sweat shirt and possibly tumbler, mugs and totes? I know there’s a 50/50 for niche/general. Only 3-5 niches and 1-2 max products at first. Maybe shirt and totes or mugs and tumblers.
Do you have an email for Printify customer support? I cannot find anything on their website and when I click on "Requests" under the Need Help section the page just keeps reloading and reloading like it's trying to redirect the page, but it's not working.
Etsy suspended my shop without any email.. I looked everything on my shop and I can’t find the reason. I tried the appeal 5 times and they don’t answer me. I don’t know what to do! 😭 I need help!! Does someone have any idea, please?
70% off?! How do shops afford to do that? What kind of profit margin do you have to be getting on a product in the first place to offer a discount that high?
I’m almost giving up 😢and I don’t know what to do, I’ve been trying almost everything and nothing works, I’m not getting views, max 6 and 2 visits at day, I’m doing ads and nothing
It's hard to say what the issue might be without seeing your shop but hopefully a few of these strategies give you an idea of things to work on like 1. Making sure you are designing for things coming up in 8-12 weeks, so right now that would look like maybe a tiny bit of Halloween and political designs, then Thanksgiving and Christmas. 2. Testing what's working and being consistent to get to the 500-1000 listings mark 3. Try running a sale in your shop and using a loss leader But some other things that might need some work are your thumbnail images, for example you want to really research what mockup photos are doing well for the product you are selling, then make sure your design is really easy to read from the thumbnail but looks good. I would recommend really analyzing your own thumbnails and being honest if you think they really would compete if they showed up on the first page next to the current bestsellers. You could even take a screenshot of the top 8 listings in one of your niches and then edit that photo in canva to put one of your thumbnail images on top of one of them to see what it would actually look like. Lastly one of the biggest mistakes I see sellers making it not researching design trends. If you weren't a designer already then. don't expect yourself to magically be amazing at designing right when you start! You need to research what works, learn how to make deisgns like that and then put your own spin on it. Like the retro wavy design style that does so well is a good example for sure! Here is a tutorial I made though on some really really simple design styles that are bestsellers that you can recreate yourself in any niche! th-cam.com/video/5JNzzWmsxys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cmsu0eslPwkV8Kez Best of luck and I hope some of this helps!
You probably are doing a over saturated niche, or are not listing your titles for each match keywords with low competition. Or it could be a design or price issue
@@danimotherofchickens479 Thank you for taking the time. I’ll check my low competition’s keywords. Bc I low the prices already and my designs are not bad looking.
I think it's really important you guys stop telling people to copy people's tags and titles. It's taking someone's work. I had several people do this to me lately. Also with etsys new algortum changes and now wanting too many similar things on the front pages come oct 1 it's not going to work for them. People do your own thing, Be original.
I see where you're coming from and I never would tell someone to copy and one persons SEO exactly but you do need to research what people are actually searching for and then actually buying once they search. You can't just make up SEO, it has to be based on what is working or else it's just a waste. I also don't think SEO is going to have anything to do with the changes on Oct 1st, I think that is going to have a lot more to do with the images.

@@CassiyJohnson Thank you so much I appreciate your response.
POODLE - ha - I definitely would love a tutorial on making scalable designs w/ value!!!

Do you have an email for Printify customer support? I cannot find anything on their website and when I click on "Requests" under the Need Help section the page just keeps reloading and reloading like it's trying to redirect the page, but it's not working.

I sell Tote Bags and Accessory pouches. If I discount more than 15%, I won't be making any money. I have my prices as low as possible.
Is there anyway to know if these top new sellers were using Etsy ads?
There is no easy way to know for sure unfortunately
Poodle please :)
Here's a question: Does Etsy censor anything? Would they censor a niche like 2nd Amendment stuff (gun stuff)?
70% off?! How do shops afford to do that? What kind of profit margin do you have to be getting on a product in the first place to offer a discount that high?
You basically set your base price high in order to afford to mark it back down
Yes exactly, they are raising the prices and then lowering them with a sale!
@@CassiyJohnsonone thing i struggle with is pricing. Do you happen to know/willing to share what the average listing price is with the sales were?

Try running a sale in your shop and using a loss leader
But some other things that might need some work are your thumbnail images, for example you want to really research what mockup photos are doing well for the product you are selling, then make sure your design is really easy to read from the thumbnail but looks good.
Here is a tutorial I made though on some really really simple design styles that are bestsellers that you can recreate yourself in any niche! th-cam.com/video/5JNzzWmsxys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cmsu0eslPwkV8Kez
Best of luck and I hope some of this helps!

The first 10 sell Disney or Pixar. At least when I looked lol
Yes I for sure had to weed out I think 15 shops that were mostly copyrighted stuff so those ones were not included in any of this data!
