I should have talked more about Chinese food. I think the upper limit of Chinese food is extremely high and creative, but the lows can be very low. The key is to be willing to spend and choose only local food and cuisine. Basically: • Low cost = under 50 RMB • Mid cost = around 50-300 RMB • High cost = 300 - 1000 RMB • Low cost + local = special carb experience • Low cost + Western = garbage (unless it’s fast food) • Low cost + not local = industrial premade garbage • Mid cost + local = local citizens recommend crazy good food; you never knew food could be this good • Mid cost + Western = garbage • Mid cost + not local = safer industrial premade food with good flavoring • High cost + local = same as mid-cost local level but with better presentation and environment • High cost + Western = average Western bars • High cost + not local = 80% of the high cost local food experience Hope this helps😊
Guys! If you want to skip the meaningless yaada yaada yaada in the beginning of this video, just skip to Location 00:45. The uploader needs to cut down on the stupid, meaningless chatter.
Location 2:00 China is a huge place. Yes. China is in the business of stealing land from other countries. China stole Tibet in 1962. China has stolen Aksai Chin from India. China has stolen some land from Mongolia. China has stolen some land from Pakistan, and if that was not enough, China is now trying to steal the whole Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. No wonder China is a huge place.
Please throw some light on Chinese delicacies like cat meat, dog meat, rat meat, insects, snakes, scorpions, spiders and above all, bats. Have you tried any bat soup? Is it true that if something has four legs and it moves, Chinese people will eat it? Thanks in advance.
"Now let's talk about the cons... and throw my social credits out the window" 🤣 tooo funny! Awesome video Leo, very well written+edited, and gives a real glimpse into the daily life in China! Glad you were able to go back to your home as well, 10 years is a really long time to be away! Excited to watch your channel continue to grow as you keep putting out super high quality content like this 👍🏻
Great video, man! I have a chinese friend and he wants me to visit, I'm really considering going there for some weeks. The technology is really amazing and I really enjoy these big crowded cities haha
I appreciate the effort you put into these videos. As you will or will have already seen there are a lot of videos about China that are obviously clickbait nonsense. You tend to focus on taking a more nonchalant approach. I'm so grateful that you do. If I may ask, what are your thoughts on cooking in Canada vs the places you visited in China. You said the ingredient quality was lower, but is that all?
Not all-if you are cooking for yourself instead of going to a restaurant, the food quality will be equivalent to Canada’s but with more colorful options. In China, there are places like Sam’s Club, similar to Costco, and supermarkets that provide good quality ingredients. There are also farmers’ markets where individual farmers come to town and sell their homegrown or homemade food, varying in quality and at very negotiable prices. Additionally, there are plenty of online grocery shopping options that can deliver any kind of grocery you want, dead or alive. Western ingredients and spices are more expensive than in Canada, and are sold in smaller portions. Perhaps I should make a video about how it’s like to live average daily life in China, thanks for liking my video!
Your take on the food issue was, well, strange. First, portions everywhere in the world are smaller than the oversized portions one gets in the US or Canada. European portions are not as immense as those in North America. Also, the base of a meal being mostly carbohydrates is, well, the norm also globally. Your image of "real food" was a setup of fancy seafood. You never even showed vegetables in the video. Overall, it seems you have normalized the non-normal food culture of the US and Canada, which is heavier on meat than elsewhere and also vast portions, and treat that abnormal situation as the given.
Yeah, I agree with what you said. Maybe I’ve traveled too little and stayed in Canada too long, considering what’s abnormal as normal. Thanks for the explanation.

• High cost = 300 - 1000 RMB
• Low cost + local = special carb experience
• Low cost + Western = garbage (unless it’s fast food)
• Low cost + not local = industrial premade garbage
• Mid cost + local = local citizens recommend crazy good food; you never knew food could be this good
• Mid cost + Western = garbage
• Mid cost + not local = safer industrial premade food with good flavoring
• High cost + local = same as mid-cost local level but with better presentation and environment
• High cost + Western = average Western bars
• High cost + not local = 80% of the high cost local food experience
Hope this helps😊

An intro is needed, just like an abstract in an essay.
thanks for watching tho
