    Wonderful! Thank you. I love these guys and their music. Just wish I'd found them sooner..... like in the 70's! But better late than never!

      I grew up with my parents and auntie playing the Corries,hence why I still love them.My grandmother used to sing us bothy ballads and played traditional Scottish music along with the Massed Pipes and Drums.

      @@117sapper haven't found anything other than George MacDonald Fraser, but he was serving at the time, and I do think he was an excellent mirror of the thoughts and feelings of those days.

    The Kingston Trio did a song called "Stay Awhile" way back in the day. It's the same tune, and (if I understand the "auld words" correctly) very much the same theme as this song.

      Roy's daughter Karen in her book about her father says that the Corries did not perform TO their audience, they performed WITH them.
