It started with the main theme sting part and the audience rose as one cheering. I still get a chill hearing it.

Amen to that! It is difficult to play on the bass. Played it in high school , three of us bassiest made All State Orchestra the year we played it. Then again I recall we didn't take it as fast but 55 years of memory fog I would testify to that.
@@mr16ga: So fortunate to have heard this performed by the Czech Philharmonic, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy, at the Rodolfinum Prague in 2000! A 50th birthday treat to myself and the memory is still vivid, 74 this year and this is still a great favourite!

I just heard this wonderful piece performed by the New York Philharmonic two nights ago. It's amazing how both groups kept control of the fast-paced sixteenth notes! Truly professionals indeed.
Yes. I heard it on KUSC while driving on the crazy 91. Had to look it up on Wiki. Very emotional score. Grips you by the short hairs especially when you are driving 80+. Excellent!

Lots and lots of notes, yes. But the real difficulty for me was matching the fingers with the very fast double-tonguing on bassoon. And this tempo is blazing.

Jinak musím říct, že kvarteto č. 1. e moll je co se týče jeho vnitřního světa a prožitku, asi to nejsilnější, nejintimnější krásou nepopsatelné ... děkuju

This particular piece I have been introduced to through my music appreciation class that I have been taking at Fairmont State University.
One of the most difficult pieces for an Orchestra to play. Everyone has to have quick fingering.
