How to create the worlds most complicated swing thought!!! This is going to fuck soooooo many people up!!! Beautiful!!

Job security for teaching professionals trying to undo what this spiral staircase feel does. Just imagine the swing thoughts to make this happen.

You're not supposed to incorporate each section as a swing thought and take it to the course. It's supposed to familiarise you with how to create the correct tension, coil and interaction with the ground in your swing, as it's one of the main components of a golf swing that amateurs get wrong, and it makes the chances of consistency low.

Hi Steve - great video thank. My confusion lies in the fact that when I spiral up as suggested my hands and the club appear to have travelled to deep or inwards relative to the toe line which is something I have been taught to avoid - probably me misunderstanding matters as when I do spiral my trail hip up and back it makes transition feel that much easier. I guess I should stop attaching to the toe line. Any comment??

Unlike so many of the comments on this video, I think this may be the best golf drill ever. Sam Snead stated that "good players play from the ground up. Great players play from the feet up." What the heck do you think this is? It breaks it down from your feet to your ankles, on up the ladder. Or on this case the staircase. There is nothing remotely complicated with this drill. I can feel each movement exactly where it indicates it. Even the way he suggests you apply your stance is the best I've ever heard. An oak tree is less stable than that stance. Do they think Cowen trained five different major championships by accident? Apparently so.

I think you mean from the right ankle to left foot on downswing?

  • @mikewelch5576

I always thought you were supposed to start the backswing with a one piece takeaway and a turn of the hips? I also always thought you were supposed to start the downswing with a slight downward movement of the body while rotating your left hip back and out of the way. How does this relate to the spiral staircase?

    What's the downswing sequence

  • @atb2003

He starts talking about working from the groin up, but then he talks about the left flut to the right ankle and up to the right shoulder. But on the way down I am not sure about the Charles Barkley, I think those stutters would not create momentum. Alright I was just joshing, I think this method creates a good balance and finish, the feel should be to wind up while throwing the club to the back and above your shoulders (as if you are placing a bucket of water on top of a high table). Then press with your back toward the target planting your left heel to catapult the arms and golf club through a specific path where the all sits, follow through to a balance finish - simple.

I wish there was a slow, step by step of the downswing

Keep the trail knee flexed, set the club early, and rotate. That’s the easiest way to do this drill.

Can you teachers ever quit using left and right? STOP IT! Use front and back or lead and trail so us left-handers won’t be forced to translate. It’s NOT left and right. STOP IT once and for all.
