The Sundays are one of my favorite bands. They were a 4 piece from the late 80s-90s, but they're mainly a husband wife team of David Gavurin (guitarist) and Harriet Wheeler (singer). Sadly, they only made 3 albums, but even the B-sides of their singles were excellent. But yeah, the most exceptional thing about them is Harriet's pure, soaring voice. Her voice reminds me of Karen Carpenter, not in the sound or technique, but in the way their voices are so pure and effortless and relaxed. They're always on my typical playlist rotation...
I think part of what I like about her voice is that you can hear her accent while she's singing, and a lot of other singers seem accent neutral when performing.
