      Well the pit crew member that got swapped, and who was basically god awful all year but also a rookie, was Jackson Gibbs son of J. D. Gibbs and the grandson of Joe Gibbs. Bell has also had 6 different pit units throughout the season. In reality there are guys moving in and out of these units throughout the season, the story really only got attention because of the comments that were made by Bubba

    I really enjoyed this race and I think the majority of credit goes to NBC actually showing the entire field. At least half the race was spent looking through the field and watching side by side battles for positions outside of 10th. Normally we spend the entire time just watching the top 5 or 10 and it often leads to stale moments since there's usually not much action up there. Being able to see guys in 15th and 20th duke it out every so often was nice.

      That was really weird seeing him lose gears like that. Really unfortunate on a track that he does so well at and where I thought he might be a contender to shake up the playoffs at. That might've been his last chance this season to make the playoffs. Hopefully he reconsiders retirement and comes back next season. I really like him as a person from what I've seen on TV of him.

    • @kadinsmith5182
      @kadinsmith5182 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It was strange. He was having a decent run. I especially wanted to see him win as a bit of a send off present. If he made the playoffs, I don't thinks he would gone far. Round of 12 would be realistically the farthest I'd see him going. But Almirola has always been a good, consistent driver, and I wanted him to have a memorable exit from NASCAR. I really wanna see John Hunter Nemechek take his spot in the 10.

    Do want to give a shoutout to the person making the decisions with pit crews for the Toyota cars. Both the 20 and 23 cars pit crews did really well today. They both have had struggles all year long and they executed. Putting crew members in the best places to succeed is crucial for quality results. They did that today.

    New Hampshire put on a great race. Bell really earned that win. As for the broadcast, I didn't even notice Rick Allen wasn't there. NBC's graphics were better (highlighting the battles on track). I did like when they had 2 boxes on screen showing 2 different battles for position. And on 1 restart they had the main picture with 5 or 6 in car thumbnails around it.

    I was at the race and I was entertained the whole race. Got some of that old PJ1 that has worn down over the years and they found lines they can run and pass. Yes it’s hard but it’s all about finding the best line to get the best drive off the corners. This was much better than recent memory. Give NHMS more time to wear down and these next gen cars can make this place run like the old track again.

    If Pocono continues this trend of great racing we've had this year, I will be very happy. It's weird that the 2 tracks that were terrible races were actually short tracks under a mile. Martinsville and Richmond were really the only 2 snoozer races we've had this season. Phoenix wasn't great, but was okay. This race really was a nice surprise. I typically dread Loudon, but this race was great other than the margin of victory Bell had. I'm usually critical of Bubba Wallace as well because I really don't think his skill as a driver matches the media coverage he gets, but great day for him and I am happy to see him finish 3rd on a track that isn't a superspeedway. 90% out of 100% for me for this race!

    Great recap, Eric! At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Cindric got a second win at some point - he hasn't been in contention for wins lately, but he has been running solidly around the top 10 and we have two superspeedway races left as well as some road course wild cards. Sucks seeing Bowman having such miserable luck, especially when you look at his teammates (the current championship favorite, the defending champ and the first guy who got multiple wins this season). And he did a strategy move staying out with Logano & Buescher and it worked only fell back to 6th at that point. And he was 10-15th ish most of the day until near the end with one of the last caution When Cindric left front tire came off after he left the pits. And that tire landed on Hamlin's pit. And thankfully Hamlin was already out of the pits and no crew member got injured. He did lost like a lap or two cause of this. And he got the free past back to back times cause at one point other than Almirola with his gear problems. And Cody Ware being slow as usual no one else got lapped again/or first time during the race lol. So when Cindric got his laps back in the end he drove his way back up to 13th in an impressive consider his obstacles today.

    As an MTJ fan , and a super fan of him in the Interstate Batteries Lightning Green , this race was so much more disappointing than if he had worked his way to a 4th from the back and a former winner had won. Like as close to a worst case scenario as you can get, it had been better if Blaney had won. But if he get a W in the last 6 , he’ll be really set up for the playoffs.

    My thoughts
    Yes there were some lulls, mainly in the first stage and right at the end. But I really enjoyed this race. Which I went in being hopeful of it not being the run of the mill Loudon race.
    Bubba had a career day. Kudos to him and that team
    Harvick and keselowski had great runs, much needed great runs. Fords found speed in spurts.
    Bell can breathe, especially after the loose wheel last week and his bubble gap narrowing.
    I think we get at least 16 winners. And maybe one more. Someone might be on the outside looking in.

    I know what the conversation for another day will be, but I am going to throw this out there. If you don't follow Iceberg's Winston format as he tracks it, we'd currently have the top five drivers seperated by 200 points, which obviously in the Winston Cup era was much closer than now. For those that don't know, Winston cup 190 points is what a driver could theoretically earn in a race. Now it is 60. This year is a great example why the playoff format is flawed. We'd have a five driver battle between Elliott, Chastain, Blaney, Kyle Busch, and Larson right now if it was the old format.

Then do a 3-5 race round with the bottom 6 being eliminated. Then reset with playoff points still counted and the final 6 race it out till the end. However, I do think the current format is fine. It may not be perfect but every year I feel like it has produced a worthy champion.
