All the members cite the cure as a huge influence growing up. I'm sure they practiced for real. Imagine fucking up your idols own song in front of him.
this a cover of a letter to elise and a cover can be the exact same or your own thing..playing it exactly to the music is not a tribute..a tribute is just an honor to someone
I just wish blink would change up their setlist a little better. They kinda did this past tour but I'd love to hear some other songs. If they played this cover again, Id die
i always loved this song, never knew blink did a cover. Still ove the original more but its a great cover!! would be great to see a band with the sincerity of the cure today.
combination of heavy overdrive distortion, wah pedal, chorus/flanger, and running the finger on the open A string for a harmonic. Its used in many forms of rock. Billy Idol runs from the 12 fret down to open on the A string to use the same effect in "white wedding". experiment by running the finger on the A string from the 12th fret down as a slide but as a harmonic (barely touching the A string). if that makes sense. blinks goes the opposite, up the fretboard to get the sound. good luck
Oh Elise it doesn't matter what you say I just can't stay here every yesterday Like keep on acting out the same The way we act out Every way to smile Forget And make-believe we never needed Any more than this Any more than this Oh Elise it doesn't matter what you do I know I'll never really get inside of you To make your eyes catch fire The way they should The way the blue could pull me in If they only would If they only would At least I'd lose this sense of sensing something else That hides away But you and me, we're worlds apart With aching looks and breaking hearts And all the plans your hands can make Oh I just take as much as you can throw And then I throw it all away Oh I throw it all away Like throwing faces at the sky Like throwing arms round Yesterday I stood and stared Wide-eyed in front of you And the face I saw looked back The way I wanted to But I just can't hide my tears away The way you do Elise... believe I never wanted this I thought this time I'd keep all of my promises I thought you were the girl always dreamed about But I let the dream go And the promises broke And the make-believe ran out... Oh Elise It doesn't matter what you say I just can't stay here every yesterday Like keep on acting out the same The way we act out Every way to smile Forget And make-believe we never needed Any more than this Any more than this And every time I try to pick it up Like falling sand As fast as I pick it up It runs away through my clutching hands But there's nothing else I can really do There's nothing else I can really do There's nothing else I can really do At all...
i hope you know that punk is just music its everything you do blink 182 and green day are punk with melodies in their music and have made more music as blink and green day got older they have changed now i consider them a rock band because their music but they still dont care what they do except to have a good time
but the self titled was in 2003. Check it out on wikipedia. Also I understand how you feel about neighbourhoods.( id say my fav is the self titled and then its neighbourhoods). But (in my opinion) its just natural progression how blink 182 songs have evolved.More in my next comment response :P
thats fine, as i said blink are a pop punk band, however the only way people will start listening to actual punk music like misfits, nofx, etc,is through bands that carry punk characteristics like blink.the bands that are covering the cure are bands that are inspired by the cure.im pretty sure blink is fine co-oping with the cure considering that they made a song together on blinks self titled album plus the cure doesn't mind blink considering they let them play live with them a couple of times.
Mk listen, its whatever if u dont like blink 182, thats cool. But then please stop watching blink videos so that the rest of us that do like blink can talk about how much we love them w/o you hating on them.
Please educate me on what good music etiquette is then, since you seem to be the expert on all things music related here, and come back once you have written and recorded a full album that's better than anything Blink-182 has recorded
I mean the self titled album was mostly influenced by toms experimentation with guitars and sounds (box car racer) and he continued to learn about guitars and stuff after the break up and throughout ava. Which later influenced his performance and elements that he added to blink 182. This is all just my opinion i do not mean to offend you in any way.
They need to do a studio version of this. It's not too late. I know they don't cover music anymore, but this is the perfect song for it.
They're currently covering Misfits ins their shows
Yes, I know, I've heard it. They sound awesome. They should studio cover that as well.
great cover, and Mark really loves the song, in fact he's really influenced by the cure
I think your secretly in love with blink, seeing how you keep coming back to this video. ;)
Secretly?
True
That bass tone
I remember watching this on TV all those years ago and its just as amazing as I remembered it.
Two of the best bands ever The Cure and Blink 182 :)
Probably one of marks best live vocal performances
Thank you, to whomever edited this video. The other version I saw had Marilyn Manson rambling for 30+ seconds and it really ruined the video for me.
I know that guy so so annoying, he makes a point of offending people who respect anything
Blink need to record a studio version of this so much!
Fantastic cover, really wish there was a studio recording of this.
i love that smile @ 0:50 :'D
They played this better than most of there songs at that time!
All the members cite the cure as a huge influence growing up. I'm sure they practiced for real. Imagine fucking up your idols own song in front of him.
blink 182 one of the great soundtracks to teen angst, and will always be, for those that grew through that period with them
also, killer guitar tom.
Out of this world playing
this a cover of a letter to elise and a cover can be the exact same or your own thing..playing it exactly to the music is not a tribute..a tribute is just an honor to someone
the only performance that made robert smile..
wish they covered this instead of hybrid moments. or even their version of boys dont cry. love thier cure song covers so much
I agree. Honestly, Tom doesn't sound as good singing Hybrid Moments as Mark does singing A Letter to Elise.
I just wish blink would change up their setlist a little better. They kinda did this past tour but I'd love to hear some other songs. If they played this cover again, Id die
cjy876 I would too. Such a good cover.
This cover just rocks so fucking hard.
still love this cover
Amazing riff!
Finally a high quality version of this performance.. Thank you
Robert Smith is impressed....
i don’t think he was...
Bob Caston hell yeah he was =}
@@charliemuskrat Robert was so impressed that he made a song with them called All of this.
@@philipkoster648 he made all of this before this performance
@@TheNickyVera Shut up! You are ruining my comment XDDD
You said it better bro. Favourite bands forever.
Still just the best performance of any cover ever.
Watching in 2021 with goosebumps!
I love this cover so much. It makes me feel really good.
Perfection. Love this cover original is great too
i always loved this song, never knew blink did a cover. Still ove the original more but its a great cover!! would be great to see a band with the sincerity of the cure today.
0:50 "I like that shit"
Kifli P. lol
this is awesome because not only is blink covering the cure but they get introduced by marilyn manson

Still love this cover💜 they practiced so hard for this performance
Oh Elise it doesn't matter what you say
I just can't stay here every yesterday
Like keep on acting out the same
The way we act out
Every way to smile
Forget
And make-believe we never needed
Any more than this
Any more than this
Oh Elise it doesn't matter what you do
I know I'll never really get inside of you
To make your eyes catch fire
The way they should
The way the blue could pull me in
If they only would
If they only would
At least I'd lose this sense of sensing something else
That hides away
But you and me, we're worlds apart
With aching looks and breaking hearts
And all the plans your hands can make
Oh I just take as much as you can throw
And then I throw it all away
Oh I throw it all away
Like throwing faces at the sky
Like throwing arms round
Yesterday
I stood and stared
Wide-eyed in front of you
And the face I saw looked back
The way I wanted to
But I just can't hide my tears away
The way you do
Elise... believe I never wanted this
I thought this time I'd keep all of my promises
I thought you were the girl always dreamed about
But I let the dream go
And the promises broke
And the make-believe ran out...
Oh Elise
It doesn't matter what you say
I just can't stay here every yesterday
Like keep on acting out the same
The way we act out
Every way to smile
Forget
And make-believe we never needed
Any more than this
Any more than this
And every time I try to pick it up
Like falling sand
As fast as I pick it up
It runs away through my clutching hands
But there's nothing else I can really do
There's nothing else I can really do
There's nothing else
I can really do
At all...
EVERLASTING!
type dammit live austin, texas. THIS is blink's golden era
That guitar sound (Y)
that smile on Robet Smith's face at 0:50 is so fucking cool
the quality is perfect..:)
amazing
Nailed and Mark’s very happy
One of the rare occasions when I started off listening and thought this sucked pretty hard, then about 30 seconds in kinda fell in love with it...
i hope you know that punk is just music its everything you do blink 182 and green day are punk with melodies in their music and have made more music as blink and green day got older they have changed now i consider them a rock band because their music but they still dont care what they do except to have a good time
Sounds like its ripped straight from untitled!
I really like to think this is how they would’ve sounded if they didn’t break up after the untitled era
Straight out really... Tom brief interlude break before the end after the great climax really sounds like a 'im lost without you' reference
It's been a while since I heard this , and It's still fucking epic!
This is what the follow-up to self titled would have sounded like.
My bad! Lol Robert was later in the video. Carry on.
this was so fucking awesome ! very very awesome !
MTV icon BLINK 182 !!!!!!!!!!!
this song has the same system that the cure used and with a little punk and rock you have this....
That shot of Robert Smith at 2:25 is crazy scary
omg mark here
Tom's always Godlike! :D
which 2007 album are you talking about ?
what is the Key he does in the slide?
Dear nermina,
IMAGINE playing this song and robert in the crowd and I forget the words like that time we covered photograph 😂
a letter to belize!!!
but the self titled was in 2003. Check it out on wikipedia. Also I understand how you feel about neighbourhoods.( id say my fav is the self titled and then its neighbourhoods). But (in my opinion) its just natural progression how blink 182 songs have evolved.More in my next comment response :P
i miss my life i had 2005!
New band? Blink formed in 1992.
where to download?
no sir, a cover is the song played different with your own style, a tribute is the song played exact as the original,
thats fine, as i said blink are a pop punk band, however the only way people will start listening to actual punk music like misfits, nofx, etc,is through bands that carry punk characteristics like blink.the bands that are covering the cure are bands that are inspired by the cure.im pretty sure blink is fine co-oping with the cure considering that they made a song together on blinks self titled album plus the cure doesn't mind blink considering they let them play live with them a couple of times.
thanks +
is there a studio recording for this, ive never heard of it before even tho i have all there albums
I would die for that moment, lol
love it 2:30:)
Does anyone know what the effect is that you hear Tom uses at 2:30?
Complete fucking annihilation pick slide + chorus
gking0615 flanger my friends.
it's still the cure, a cover is just a cover
rofl after all these years of watching this video I didn't notice it was manson introducing them o__o
What kind of effect at 2:30?
i know im 8 years too late to answer but i think it could be a pick slide?
Big moment for Mark
I agree but don't forget Deftones ;)
Well i said that because most people react like crazy when someone tells them their opinion... but its seems you are just fine so ... :)
Mk listen, its whatever if u dont like blink 182, thats cool. But then please stop watching blink videos so that the rest of us that do like blink can talk about how much we love them w/o you hating on them.
why have I never heard this song before...
sadly i dont think there is one, i have searched for it myself :(
@SpazAttack1979 And Deftones
so sad that months later they separated
Please educate me on what good music etiquette is then, since you seem to be the expert on all things music related here, and come back once you have written and recorded a full album that's better than anything Blink-182 has recorded
a bit of feedback on a flanger and chorus pedal by the sounds of things..
i feel sorry for Tom that i have to like this but at times he can sing well . but thats very very very rare. Nut still love them all
.
There's no point of comparison...
starring All Time Low, A Day to Remember ETC
i bet you are indonesian, am i right?
And a random Marilyn Manson at the beginning....
2022? :)
In a sense, this was probably peak blink-182. It was downhill from here really.
You offended me
whos the hobo @2:26
You probably listen to One Direction don't you?
it say 1979, that means he isnt lying bro
He probably used some kind of pedal i dont really know
TIL Mark was suffering from explosive diarrhea during this
freaking hell.... they made this song from okay.. to GODLY
with wah2.
This is a song by The Cure, Blink 182 just did a cover. Hinthint look at the top right corner ... "ICON The Cure".
could be from a flanger pedal
:P
2020??
Haha that's actually Robert Smith from The Cure doing the intro
Anyone else think it's kinda weird seeing Tom be solely a guitarist?
