Great video, using this to get my 20 for the quest.
Fishing in the wasteland cave lake I just caught a halibut too, which is another source if you don't want to bother with the clocktower lake.

This video has been a great help! Thank you! The only fish I can't find is the last jumbo fish. I find the whale shark but not the other jumbo fish.
Thanks for the guide. Some thoughts I had doing this that I might clarify further: the fantastic bait is infinite. It says "1", but I caught 7 whale sharks in a row. Who knew there were so many in that lake? The cumulative fishing data appears to give you a lot more latitude in your angler wrangling skills and perhaps RNG. Just like leveling up your gear, the process of the data and this guide makes the fishing go better and quicker. I thought this whole process was going to be very tedious, but it turned out ok, even though I felt kind of jerked around with all the bulletin board stuff/going back to Great Desert, etc. So getting the trophy is for 20 fish, but the outfit is all the fish and associated quests is for the Nano suit. The dialogue between Eve and Clyde when getting the suit is pretty humorous.
On a different note, I have Lily at 100% at want to get everything done before going to Eidos-9 then Spire. So I am already forgetting the story? Eidos-7 in the beginning, then Eidos-9 later? I know the Lily factor opens up a different area on 9.
yeah it opens up later, but you should be able to fish all the fish prior to Eidos 9

3:23 by chance, i caught a Halibut here at Wasteland Spot 1
I did a different method before searching for fishing locations. (I just started the fantastic bait mission)
I only fished at 3 locations and already got 19 fish. I got all the small fishes at the Great Desert Oasis, 8 out of 9 medium fishes at the Xion pond, and all the large fishes at the wasteland spot 2.
Did that give you the ocean maid outfit or do you need to fish on all locations?
I got the outfit. You only need to collect all the fish, that's it. The location's I chose was because i was wondering if i was able to collect them all at one spot.
Nice with this i will be able to fill my fish data and get the best suit in the game imo :)
I feel like a lot of the quides for fishing out there feel really incomplete. This one was the best I found so far.

nice, good to note for those that may be scrolling through the comments
I used the default way to fish. People mistake how it works and tap R2 thinking that's how it works. But it is a pressure sensitive mechanic and all you have to do is hold R2 in a certain spot while the arrow is in the blue area. You simply hold the button down instead of trying to tap it. It's really super easy
Yeah I figured it was hold instead of tap, but even then I prefer not to have to deal with that ontop of mashing square to try to reel the fish in. Glad they offer an alternative controls for that. lol

That song you have playing in the video is the Wasteland song. What a great song. The music in this game is fantastic. It's not on the level of lies of P. But lies of p is not on the level of combat Stellar blade is. I'm just so impressed with what shift up delivered. I didn't expect the game to be this good. It does have issues but for them delivering their first Triple A experience. Great game. Hell of a job
Played through two back to back completions in Lies of P and cant recall any of the music which indicates to me it was very forgettable.
Stellar blade already has at least two songs stuck in my head. Amazing soundtrack.

Wasteland spot one can give tuna aswell, so mostly Random?

do i keep the side quests completed and the fish data if i start new game plus? i did the raven boss and xion isn't accessible and i need xion to get the fantastic bate
No the side quests will reset, but you do keep progress in a sense with the data bank & fish progress. However Lily's bar will reset back to 0% to regain again. Hope that makes sense.

Anyone got a list what you can catch apart from the fish? I’ve caught an additional 5 items like nuclear waste wondering if there are anymore, 5 that get added to your inventory anyways
I didn't include the junk items, as those don't count towards the trophy or the outfit.

Wait im lost. For the progression for lily i have to complete oricals testimony right to unlock eidos 9? But isn't that the point of no return?
You don't have to have that area in order to obtain all the fish. But in order to unlock Eidos 9, yes it would require you to have Lily's bar max out at 100% before proceeding with Orical's Testimony I believe

i dont have edios 9 unlock so when do i get the world unlocked to go to the fishing spot?
You must max out Lily's bar to 100% by collecting the data sticks in the game and then progress through the story to No point of return. The game will tell you. That will be an area you can visit once you progress with that. HOWEVER! You don't need to get that spot in order to be able to fish all the different fish types.

I dunno if they meant for it to happen this way... But with fishing assist turn on, I manage to catch the whale shark with small shrimp bait before even getting the fantastic fish data?! Given it went down to literally the last millisecond!
That's amazing! LOL Yeah the bait is supposed to help increase your chances of catching xyz fish, but you can catch "anything" since it's RNG.
Is this still obtainable without going to eidos 9? I keep getting mixed answers.
Yeah you can complete this without it, that's how I did it. I caught all the fish prior to that, so all the fishishable areas minus that.

Yes you have to catch all different ones to complete the fish under the data bank. Return back to Clyde to talk to him and he should reward you with it.

I can't believe I've fished for hours and I'm still missing a Small Fish of all things.
I've used 50 fish slices and still haven't caught the Mahi Mahi. Got the 19 before that with ease.
yeah that sucks since it's all RNG based, have you tried switching locations?

It's not completing every quest, I mean well that helps you towards catching all the fish. But you must complete your fish collection of the 25 different ones in order to. Check that under data bank.
So THIS is where the Nier influence came from.

Just keeping trying! For me it was the sailfish. Had no luck in Eidos 7 so I went to the Wasteland. I believe you can catch the Mahi Mahi at Wasteland spot 2
@HomelessGurl I finally got it after using about 50 of the bait you have to use. I was close to almost out and then all of a sudden it shows up. Got the sexy suit at the end.

It's because you need all 25 for the Ocean Maid outfit, so catching the fish is tied to several if you're achievement hunting. 😅

yes, I'm aware, as I've stated in the beginning of my video, this has RNG, so it's hard to figure out exactly, only what I caught to confirm so it's better to miss information than put information that's incorrect

Unfortunately yes since it's all RNG based. Use the right bait just help increase yours odd, but it can feel like RNGesus isn't on your side. 😅
Anyone have this issue? I was able to fish. I fished to do a quest for the cook. Completed the quest went back to fish and now I can no longer fish. I can select my rod but it never comes out so I can cast it. I went to go do the porcupine fish quest and I just can't fish anymore. I turned off my console and everything....just no more fishing. Got to the point where I just moved on with the story and now won't be able to finish that quest
Interesting I haven't heard of this. Have you tried searching to see if anyone else has encountered this to see if there is a solution? The closest thing I had to was sometimes the fish I previously catch would still float in the air so not the same.
The only thing I think is try swapping your bait to be able to cast, but you should be able to without no bait on it unless you were using something else and ran out.
@@HomelessGurl I can't even switch bait because when I select my pole it won't even come out. You have to have your pole out to swap bait

This is all RNG bs. What was shift up thinking? U can be here fishing all day and u won’t get all the fishes. Special bait been getting me small fish’s what’s the point having different baits when u can still catch small common fish with a special bait or any other bait? This is the worst part of this game and of course they lock a suit behind this RNG bs
Yeah that’s how it usually goes with games like this. You have to get all certain things to get a suit but it’s pain the ass.
Bro is upset because 1 suit out of 40+ is only unlocked with this mission. Smh if this upsets you then where have u been through the past 20 years of gaming. It's not hard to spend some time learning to fish the right way especially compared to other games its not that serious
