I think the narrative theory confuses personal identity with the personality as used in everday life (like when i say:i want to a philosopher,i will not do x because that's against my personality, or when i say i'm a professor of ethics so i should behave ethically).
Also when the individual articulates his or her narrtive, the individual has intentions, thoughts, and decision making mechanisms

The objections promoted by Situationism against Narrative Theory is really interesting! Good job, Kane!

The basis for situationism seems rather weak since in all the experiments, which are supposed to be evidence for situationism, several different people are put in more or less identical situations yet their actions are never uniformly the same. Of course people act differently based on the situation but that is an extremely trivial fact. Furthermore phenomena like the bystander effect can be explained by the hypothesis that most people have extremely similar personalities in the relevant aspects (such as being conformist). That said, perhaps situationism can be interpreted as the claim that people tend to have personalities (or character traits) which makes them very responsive to the environment rather than the claim that they don't have a personality or that their personality largely do not affect their behavior.
