here's what i think i can make out of his lyrics: know you can count on me know you can count on me know you can count on me to look so up for it. know you can count on me i'll look so up for it know at least i'll try. who are you if im not up for it? where are you if im not up for it? inbetween -------------------------------- thenn something about "keep you safe"...i could be totally wrong of course.
@wootwootbreh WHOAH man that was such a COOL STORY i had to read it OVER and OVER again and tell ALL my friends. thanks for the insight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lyrics can be important at times, but not really in their songs. you can't really hear most of them anyways. i'm more into really cool melodies and harmonizing. i wish i knew the effects Panda uses on his voice. They make it sound so perfect!
Agreed. I understand all of his lyrics, because I read them. I usually like good song writers...but I enjoy music that you sometimes can't quite make out the words. If you could understand that. Even chanting with music. Just using the voice as an instrument that doesn't necessarily need to be saying anything.
You could say these are bad vocals by a choir teacher's standards, but based on my experience, choir teachers are always super pretentious and like crappy music. But when you're singing Indie Electronic Rock Thing, this is called unbelievably unique and amazing.
@cornpopsandacid i agree. this live is way better then the studio version. too much noisey sample going on in the background. plus it needs to be way slower
Yeah same. I mean, I listen to Sigur Ros, but I don't know what the hell he's saying. Some music is meant to simply provoke a thought/and or feeling. I like both styles though. I mean, like i said, i'm mainly into music that has great melodies and a nice sonic atmosphere that gives me a sorta profound feeling. like nostalgia or yearning, but i'm also a big fan of Bob Dylan and lyrically poet songs from John Lennon like "Across The Universe". I mean, that's more about the words than the music.
this, and some of his other stuff, kinda reminds me of like 80's "beleive"/pop music, i like the songs, but im not sure if i like how much they remind me of 80's lol, i kinda hate 80's music
I love Panda Bear, I think his songs and albums are unbelievably incredible. That being said, this vocal performance is embarrassingly awful. Is it always this bad? Do fans not care? I'm beginning to notice a common trend between solo electronic/chillwave type acts and mediocre vocals. Toro Y Moi, Washed Out (simply sings into a vocoder) ... all amazing artists, but no pipes.
ugh. Should have realized this is what a hipster would recommend. I would rather hear nickelback at a 10 hour funeral than hear this repetition for one more verse
i was at this show. missed seeing wolf parade up close for a good spot.
You can count on him to have album of the year.
Person Pitch is one of the all time greats.
the way he sing the words is ...set him apart already. Words are abstract when he sing them. This will be my album of the year already.
so raw and stunning. ugh
Im seeing him september 11th, i cant wait this performance is so heartfelt
Nice to see some new creativity in the music world.
yeah this was beautiful
reminds me more of the sung tong/prospect hummer days. stoked on that
I dont think the recorded version really captures the power of this song. I love the raw vocals. One of his bests
amazin. your so lucky you got to be there
here's what i think i can make out of his lyrics:
know you can count on me
know you can count on me
know you can count on me
to look so up for it.
know you can count on me
i'll look so up for it
know at least i'll try.
who are you if im not up for it?
where are you if im not up for it?

@granap Thank You!
The passion in his voice really didn't translate into the studio recording.

@PorroFirst yeah, it's so sick!
@fenway15 think so brudda, check the bowery presents and ticketmaster

He looks like shaggy. ZOINKS
Really? If you're gonna check that scene out, you're in for a treat.
"Chillwave"? haha wow not heard that one before.
avey is the lyrical strong man of AC.. but Pandas soaring vocals set him apart from the whole chillwave scene

His solo is better than Animal collective. Tomboy is just too good
"you can count on me"
what song is playing at the beginning of this??
sounds like the end of Friendship Bracelet maybe? with the descending "dooooooont (break)"
Im wrong im almost positive it is Afterburner.
this, and some of his other stuff, kinda reminds me of like 80's "beleive"/pop music, i like the songs, but im not sure if i like how much they remind me of 80's lol, i kinda hate 80's music
Love Panda but his high is at the expense of his live vocals..
I always thought Noah was a pretty shitty singer live, I'm glad this could change my mind
