- Anak elang botak atau bald eagle menyiksa saudara kecilnya hingga tewas dalam sarang.Kejadian ini direkam pada saat breeding season bald eagle 2022 disarang elang botak Dale Hollow Lake negara bagian Kentucky Amerika Serikat.
Kejadian seperti ini sering terjadi pada anakan elang botak atau bald eagle meski tidak semuanya.Menurut beberapa penelitian terjadinya eliminasi dalam sarang dipengaruhi oleh ketersediaan makanan di alam liar,jika ketersediaan makanan di lingkungan sekitaran sarang sedang melimpah maka anak elang yang tertua tidak akan berprilaku agresif.Namun jika ketersediaan makanan dialam sedang masa sulit biasanya anak tertua akan mengeliminasi rivalnya dalam sarang.
Sibling rivalry tidak hanya berlaku pada anak elang botak saja akan tetapi untuk beberapa jenis burung pemangsa seperti pada anakan elang meas,elang ekor putih,elang imperial,white bellied sea eagle,elang osprey dan beberapa elang-elang kecil atau alap-alap.

This is the strangest feed/pecking order I've seen yet. Never saw a Q, with only one feeding, others attacked if snatching a morsel. The boss should have these destructive behaviors channeled into a hobby or physical labor--Bad joke, I couldn't help myself. I hope he has that fighting spirit if mr. nasty goshawk shows up.

The chicks do not have the ability to contemplate pecking order all they know is peck or be pecked. They will peck each other, one will be dominant, and the others will be subserviant to it. The most aggressive chicks get the most food. Always. The others will eat when the dominant chick(s) let them.
Sometimes it's like a race, one eats, the other sees it and grabs another piece, and on and on. They're already sporting crops that look ready to explode, and when finished, they're like roly-polys tilting to one side or the other. A couple of fat old men after a Thanksgiving dinner having eaten too much. Too bad mumsie doesn't share the food with the little one. They started equally, but see what less food and less time has done in size and weight.wish he could squeeze between and get up front, it'll still lack the reach. C'mon, little one, get up there!
