Nice one, I’m glad you enjoyed your experiment. Hope you enjoyed your shower. I would miss that to x

Thank you Again Ruth, the lack of a hot shower was the main downside of being without power. Otherwise, it wasn’t bad at all. I hope we don’t have to face so long without power, but at least now I know what to expect if it happens. Regards Ian

Enjoying your vids. Some prepper videos are unrealistic and seem to be looking at zombie apocalypse with expensive kit and years of supply. Your scenario is what we are likely going to face this winter in the UK with blackouts and storms. I’ve had to face this after a devastating flood. Wish I’d seen videos like this before it happened. But I’m prepped now.

Thank you for those kind words, really appreciated. It really is to get through the winter and beyond, zombies and aliens, I shall leave to others. I live in the real world.

    Ian:
Thank you for filming this series. All of the videoes were interesting and informative. One thing you said in the video hit home to me, and that is how far I've drifted from a simple, quiet, peaceful life. I've become so used to televison, endless news cycles, commercials, and just the general rat-race of life; that I've forgotten how relaxing quiet reflection can be. I'm happy that your experiment went well, and I learned a lot from the videos. I think it would be very interesting if you were to discuss some of the things that you learned during this experiment that you didn't expect or anticipate. Thanks again for doing this.

Interesting series Ian, for me what you are doing Is my favourite pastime, camping, just you are doing yours indoors! Fortunately where I live in Oz in winter we don't get the snow, ice, and very short days, though by our standards it still gets bloody cold. Still, for me nothing beats camping outside under the stars, warming/cooking your own meals, away from all the hustle and bustle of the modern world, hiking along a bush trail enjoying the scenery then setting up camp for the night, perhaps with company, perhaps alone with my thoughts and memories. Anyway well done and good luck for the winter. Cheers.

Lots of wisdom in your observations Ian. As someone who lives in a land of bushfire and floods , it pays to have alternate means of getting through tough times. A thought about torches and radios, have you seen the wind up versions you can get? They have some sort of built in dynamo that could be useful if you are short on battery power.

Many thanks Jacksarge, I will look out for wind up alternatives for both radio and torches, I know they are available.
