    Thanks for this tip. My SCX6 just arrived yesterday and I made the bracket today out 1.6mm steel - a great improvement. Unfortunately about 10mins into my test run at home, the steering servo stripped - what a piece of junk for this car. Fortunately I already had a Powerhobby 1513MG on its way to me - hopefully about 5 days away now. I'll be direct powering this from the 3s battery. I also have 2 Gens Ace 3s 8000's due here in 2 days. Also have alloy front shock mounts coming to take care of the other end of the panhard. I'm looking forward to getting this out for a proper run. Thanks for what you do to find improvements for new RC's.

    Thanks for another enjoyable video. I did notice at around 3:34 the steering servo seemed to be flexing a bit. I would also suggest using a 6 volt relay powered by the ESC’s BEC to control the connection of the external BEC to the battery. With a relay setup the factory power switch will still function as intended

    The stock steering servo is rated a 6v-7.2v BTW. A bypass adapter can also be DIY-ed on the cheap if you can solder.

    This is my first rig with a fan for the esc. And never knew when binding or stalling a steering servo can blow the esc. The Beast 1000 did slow the fan down significantly when the servo would bind. I installed a Bec and a HH bypass wire harness so I can run the stock lights and so that the Bec and esc would not interfere. The Bec worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice. You saved my Esc. Now I'm going to add the braces that you mentioned.

  • @hobbytimevideos
    @hobbytimevideos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I enjoy your channel. Just one thing though. You are right about the ESC being underpowered, especially the BEC. It's not the voltage though. You can crank it back to 6v and run a splitter to the lights and fan off the last Aux slot. The ESC only puts out 3amps for the BEC. A mini servo needs more than that. All is well just adding a 10 amp Castle external BEC. The steering does much better, and everything stays with a happy voltage.

    You can also use a rx bypass lead to just send 8v to the steering and keep the 6v to the other servo and receiver. I use rx bypass leads on my summit and erevo i run my reefs triple 5 on 8v and then it lets me keep my receiver and micro servos at 6v

    Nice I was just looking at bracing the panhard mount on the axle. I also see some deflection coming from the rear links and rod ends (upper rear at the axle), this could use a longer bolt and nut to clamp them better (should be a M4x45mm screw and bolt).

    Hope someone comes out with a nice aluminum track bar mount like that. I’ll rig one up but a nice cnc’d piece would be great.
    Adding servo strength and removing the five is gonna fill the rod ends I’m guessing.
    So, I’m wanting some better rod ends, aluminum trac bar axle mount brace, aluminum front shock tower. Then see where the weak point is after that. I like the weak point to be something easily fixed…so maybe keep the plastic rod ends and if something goes it’s a few min trail side fix?

      It’s straight forward dc voltage stuff. Just look at diagrams and see where your positives and negatives are on the pieces he mentioned and connections are where he said. .
      And you can use any other reference as long as the number of wires are the same on the diagrams for any other servo or esc. And the are pluses & minuses on the esc itself to let you know what colors they are using.
      Or just do a search on TH-cam for hoooking up external Bec to a spectrum esc. They should be hundreds or maybe thousands of videos to use.
      But it’s really self explanatory knowing how dc voltage works and the pieces names he mentioned to where the wires goes. From there it’s just learning where the p & n are .
