Sadly Chris Barbee passed away on June 20th, 2023 just 13 days shy of his 80th birthday. Not long adter I visited him in this video he closed his attraction because of his declining health and his desire to move closer to his children. He realy did create something unique and very special that brought a lot of smiles to many people visiting from all over the world. He will forever be known as the Bowling Ball Man. He had been interviewed countless times by tons of reporters and journalists. I really enjoyed spending time with him and he enjoyed it as well. When he watched this video he was very appreciative and he said it was one of the best videos on his display. His comment is down below in the comment section.
At first he was saying where they went and it was literally all over the country. He had a few displays left that he didn't say. Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistory The pool table and the pyramid were genius. Well, all of the pieces were. I also really liked your personal connection to the Moore memorial. So sad looking at all the names on those balls. The memorial to the bowling alley victims was my favorite. And, it's hard to imagine your childhood home and part of your history being blown away and erased by a tornado! Thanks for sharing these personal stories. Very moving.
I didn't know any of the people who were tragically killed because I have been away from that area for quite some time and a lot of new people have moved in. But some of those people that were killed were on my old block. Several of the young children were in the elementary school I went to. We used to have so many tornado drills there and we would crouch down in the hallway which was the same exact place that these kids were when this tornado hit. You could see some of their names on the bowling balls. It was so sad that this tornado took their lives and they were doing everything that they could. They have since rebuilt the school and it has a state of the art storm shelter in it. They really have a nice memorial out in front of the school dedicated to those children who lost their lives.
Wonderful and I loved bowling as a child and older adult winning awards too. Even did a couple 300 games in my time. I bought a yellow ball with black stars on it and watched the holes being drilled in to fit my fingers and a brown bowling bag. I sure loved bowling. Thanks for sharing.
Chris really has some unique art and I love how different it is. He's a super friendly guy that has created an awesome roadside attraction. Thanks for watching my friend.
I've caught wind of this place before but never seen it. Made me think of my mother. She was a bowler and had some trophies much like the ones that were on that shelf. I wish I knew whatever happened to her old bowling ball, I'd have to run it up there and donate it. I think she really would have liked this place. A lot of work and imagination there.
He really is a nice guy and I love what he's created. It might be worth it for you to make a trip up there or contact him thru TH-cam, facebook, or Instagram. He could put your mother's name on a bowling ball and that would make a great memorial for her since she was a bowler. I had no idea he did that.
Wow! I am glad you could spare the time to share this striking roadside attraction with us! You must have had a ball~ We really enjoyed this. Smiling and waving from Michigan
Thanks for this video very interesting never knew anybody did something like that with bowling balls I know it was three years ago I hope that gentleman is still doing all the different designs really fantastic work
From what I understand he moved away from this property and in with family. In the process much of the bowling ball displays had been dismantled and sold. Thank you for watching Marlene!
That was simply amazing.. loved all of it. Very creative. I remember that tornado. A great memorial he made, very thoughtful. God bless them all and Ebonite bowling balls factory is in Hopkinsville Ky. I drive by it often. Now I will always remember this video each time I pass. And as always Thanks for sharing .🙏😁👍👍
He really did create something special. I loved it. Sadly he has dismantled everything and sold it. The attraction is no more. Thanks for watching Rebecca!
This bowling ball art is pretty damn cool man I think what this older guy did was very interesting it's it's nice it's something that I've never seen before
Hi Rhett, that was really awesome. I've never seen that before. He had some really unusual bowling balls. Some were very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing this with me and.🖐️🎃🕸️🕷️💀🤡🛸🕸️🕷️🎃🤔👍.
Chris Barbie is a friend of mine, thank you for making this video about his art. He really is a great guy and I am proud to know him. BTW I counted 273 ball in the flag piece.
He's a super friendly guy and I enjoyed talking to him. I think he's created something special and unique. That's a lot of work that went into that flag. Might be the heaviest American flag out there.

@@RhettyforHistory Wow, that makes it even sadder and even more personal.
It does, I can't even fathom what those other kids and teachers have to live with going thru that.

There is a geocache there I noticed. I pointed it out to my husband and he agreed we need to make a trip that direction.
Interesting! No telling where it is! So many places it could be.
This is awesome. I have been bowling since I was old enough to walk. The memorial is great. That was cool of him to do.

I believe there should be 273 bowling bowls that make up the American Flag, what a humble Gentleman he is.. Great video again !!
That's quite a few! It's a workout to create that kind of art. Thanks for watching and commenting.

RhettyforFun just curious if you’ve ever visited Geronimo’s grave at Fort Sill, OK?
I have but it was before I was making videos. I hope to be covering him and some other Chiefs this winter.
Very exotic

The pink ribbon of balls is for breast cancer awareness
I believe you are correct. I wasn't sure if they were meant to be pink or if they were red and then faded to pink.
Boy that’s really sad to see the age and names of those who died in the tornado.
It was a devastating tornado. It destroyed complete neighborhoods and schools.
