    Finally, a tutorial that makes sense. I think I might actually be able to accomplish this now. Thank you!

    Best explanation ever. Even though I’m an experienced knitter, I believe your wonderfully clear explanations could easily be followed by beginners. Well done!

    Thanks for the cool video! I have one question though - how do you count the rows in brioche sticking? Do you count the vertical Vs, or does it work differently?

    • @PurlSoho
      @PurlSoho  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Imola, great question! In brioche knitting, each V is actually 2 rows.

  • @Doodahdoodles
    @Doodahdoodles 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You don’t clarify whether you knit both the first and last stitches of the row though?

    • @PurlSoho
      @PurlSoho  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Hello! For the purpose of our swatching, the first and last stitch of both sides are knit for all rows - making a clean garter stitch ridge along the swatch edges! Let us know if you have any other questions!

    When you say to lay your yarn on the top of the needle, as in just leave your working yarn in front to knit, it sounds confusing.

      Hi Kristin, I'm sorry to hear that our tutorial was a bit confusing! If you have any questions about the brioche knitting technique, please don't hesitate to reach out to us by sending an email to customerservice@purlsoho.com, and we'd be happy to give further advice.

    Hi! What should I do for the 2nd row? Should I do it like on the 1st row or should I do the brioche already?

    • @PurlSoho
      @PurlSoho  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, after the set-up row, you can jump right into the regular brioche rows!

    At the end of the row, do you just knit?

    • @Doodahdoodles
      @Doodahdoodles 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Literally can’t find the answer to this question anywhere! 🥴 did you find a solution?

    • @Enig_Mata
      @Enig_Mata ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know this is late, but hope someone finds this useful. Yes, you knit the first and last stitch of each row - they are your selvedge stitches.

    • @Enig_Mata
      @Enig_Mata ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bella-nn7ft The number of cast-on stitches may vary based on pattern, but if knitting flat, your total cast-on is essentially a multiple of 2 plus 2 stitches(1 selvedge stitch at each end). Brioche is worked over 2 stitches where you do a yarn over on 1 stitch and then either a brioche knit or purl. Always knit the 1st and last stitch and that gives a clean edge to seam or whatever. I'm also new to this, but that's what I did for the swatch and also cardigan I'm knitting in brioche. Hope this helps.

    Great video. I have watched it once and now I'm going to give it a go. Being an absolute beginner. I currently know cable on and off stitch and knit stitch. I was wondering how many stitches did you cast on in the beginning. I tried to figure it out in the picture but couldn't quite make it. :)

    • @PurlSoho
      @PurlSoho  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Maria! If memory serves, we cast on 25 stitches for this swatch. Thanks for writing and happy knitting!

    I've been trying to knit the Brioche hat, in the round, but am not understanding the Bp2tog stitch in the pattern. My yarn is already in the front so the YOS is confusing. Thanks!

    • @PurlSoho
      @PurlSoho  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dawn! The bp2tog stitch works the purl with the YOS from the previous round. If your yarn is in the front and you need to do a YOS, wrap the yarn from front to back, bringing the yarn back to the front to complete the bp2tog.
      Brioche stitch in the round is a little bit different in terms of tutorials, as this tutorial is knit flat. We have a section of techniques for Brioche stitch on our website, and those can be viewed here!

      Not necessarily, Bruce. Brioche in the round is a bit of a different tutorial - here's a project link to help with that!

    I am a beginner does this pattern trick works on the long tail cast on?

    • @PurlSoho
      @PurlSoho  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! Yes, you can use a long tail cast-on for a project in brioche stitch.
