- The Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland region hosts a great number and variety of seabirds, from the majestic albatross to lively petrels.
As the seabird capital of the world, Aotearoa is home to 25% of the planet’s seabird species. Over a third of the 80 seabird species breeding in New Zealand are endemic, meaning they’re found nowhere else on earth. This video explores the significance of the seabirds that visit and live in the Auckland region, the challenges and how we can contribute to their protection.
🌱 Protecting seabirds ensures healthier ecosystems for all. Reducing light pollution, protecting nesting sites and supporting conservation efforts make a big difference.
