in the canadian my teacher is explaining to me that the ds and dbl up are syncopated meaning as you are stepping down on the ds you are simultaneously beginning the dt up. in your video it appears they are definitely two seperate moves.

I agree. At the end, he seems to be doing it the way you and I learned. I reckon everyone does it a little differently.
