i used to have the whole collection on those good old VHS tapes! Oh how i long for the sound of a VHS loading into the box AHHHHHHH I LOVE VHS THEY WERE THE BEST THUMBS UP IF YOU LOVE VHS!
As a child, you think how cool the sequence is. As an adult, you realise how unnecessarily complicated the whole setup is and how much more sensible it would've been to have Thunderbird 1 always parked directly underneath the pool and have Scott just take a lift straight down...
Of the many Thunderbird theme variations, this particular one is my favorite. 0:45 And this is an awesome shot of Thunderbird 1 making its way for launch.
what's interesting is that some toy makers produced the island, but the thunderbird 1 launch could be done by opening the entire pool, whereas the original it opens not even half.
"International Rescue from Thunderbird 1, changing to horizontal flight." If only some people would do that with their phones before they take video clips.
I'm amazed that a family of eight (nine if you count Lady Penelope) were able to keep this place going. And how did they keep it a secret? They must have had all the construction workers killed. I guess that's the dark side of Thunderbirds.
2000gmod Just looks like a rocket when it launches. Since your profile pic is of spock let me ask you this question if Star Trek had the special effects of the Thunderbirds if those people would work with the scenes of the Enterprise u think it would look good? Because both shows just about have the same tone of maturity with the special effects of the Thunderbirds and the Actors I believe that maybe TOS would have lasted longers their would be more dog fights in space.
I always loved the fact Scott had a decorative plate in the cockpit of Thunderbird 1
Still one of the coolest scenes ever made on screen and at 60 years old to

There have been many imperfections and inconsistencies in the production of this great show, but you have to look close..thanks for posting!!

Not to mention the inefficiency of using a rocket when a jet would suffice.
man this brings back some memories

This comment is extremely clever
Thunderbirds are still go
Wow I remember this.. but I don't remember watching this. WHERE WAS THIS!?
Bravo!!!
What was TB1 role? Scout the emergency for TB2 to bring the right rescue hear2?
@69keithmoon Do you think the realised that Scott would have blacked out immediately by sitting upright during a launch?.

@cprich22 Thunderbird 1 does the recon, and then they can decide what module they are going to put in Thunderbird 2.
watching this again because of the "brick wall" cameo
@dataflowc yeah i can see that.. i wondered it too.. its weird how that happened
Its on Tracey Island, episode: "The Perils of Penelope".
@prausch65
That's what makes it so perfect though....
@dataflowc because the sequence looks better that way!! I'm sure they would have realised..
Could Thunderbird 1 be a spacecraft it looks like it could be?
