I actually really like that you show weekly graphs. I think that approach gives more insight into the grind and what short term variance can look like. Sure it would be nice to look at a graph of millions of hands but that's not really how the game is experienced IMO. You get to millions of hands one session at a time and I think seeing winning players have wild stretches puts things into perspective.
I really appreciate the openness and transparency of continually sharing and making videos through such a bad downswing. Keep showing up, stay process oriented, and good things will likely follow. 💪
i like the longer format. interesting stuff as usual. just curious on why would you hop onto a 2/5/2a game? haven't seen you played any of these in your other videos.
The x/c x/c x/r line might be one of the most underbluffed spots there is in SRP. That said, I think folding the AT is ok on river, not sure if I could do it though. Your reasoning of him reading into your "weak betsize" might happen less often than your brain trying to find any reason for a call. All the best and GL!
yeah totally can agree that I maybe over levelled myself. although I’d you’re gunna make a speculative call it’s always best to do it vs someone capable!
Ben, when you say on the 258 rainbow, that deep you wouldnt chk raise with JT but at 100bb deep chk raise mixes, is that because 100bb deep you get to bet go with it when you pick up equity, or chk shove etc etc?
I think it’s an extremely standard river shove still. I would say you’re likely making fear based assumptions about them not bluff catching and only calling traps! we can’t possibly know how an unknown player will construct their range
seems like such a wild underplay with AA to justify blocking. I can understand some explo reasons but even then I think shoving outweighs those. so hard to know vs an unknown though - block could well be infinitely better vs this player but we’ll never know
Thanks for the quick response! But Honestly I don’t think it’s an extremely standard shove. He has a decent amount of sets (lets say 8 combos), so he needs to bluffcatch at least 8 one pair hand combos for a 400 bb pot which is never a K and your range is AK+ (20+ value combos and little natural bluffs)
Hi Bena, wanted to know if you had losing months? (even with rb) And how often it would happen? I'm asking because both March and April have been losing months for me, and despite knowing that I'm overall a winning player I have a really tough time dealing with that . Thanks!
hey mate! yeah i have plenty of losing months. for the last 5 years I’ve probably had something along the lines of 3 losing, 4/5 even and then 4/5 winning. definitely super normal but also I understand that it feels rough!
@@BenaBadBeatPoker doesn’t change your line at all I don’t think, was just responding to you saying that villain played his hand perfectly, I think 33 might have to fold to flop xr
tough one to answer mate! it depends on your goals. i have been through periods in my career plating 60-100k hands every month and enjoyed it. also was playing like 200nl so it was a lot easier to get in volume (especially at zoom). I'm now in a place where i only play 3 hours a day. general rule of thumb would simply be what you wanna make as your hourly and take it from there.
tough question as I could be playing up to 10k now! basically wanna mix back in hs when I feel up to handling the big swings. atm very happy playing up to 3k only
Just a general question about bet sizing on the river. When you say.like the example in the video "I go all'in with set and str8 for value and with some bluff and go 66% with 2pair" doesn't leave you unbalanced when you bet 66%? You are capped on your value and never have bluff. Your opponent can fold all bluff catchers and raise all'in with top range and bluff against your 66% size. Or your decision is based in the fact that your opponent doesn't know your strategy? But than is not a GTO line, is an exploitative one. I am not saying your strategy is bad. You are way ahead of my level. Just curious to understand the thinking process a little deeper.
very interesting and good question. so in this exact scenario i will split and not use b66 with any nuts. And I would also assume that this would be the solvers output too. that said, I did acknowledge in the video that betting 66% was likely a mistake theoretically because my value range just wants to go all in. also I would have some other bluffs in my range for the b66. a hand like QJ for example that double blocks villains calls and allows him to have worse Ax
Great content as always Bena. However, I disagree with your KTo thought process on the turn. I think solver prefers to overbet the KTo combos WITH a heart, because those combos block hands that jam the turn and deny our equity (e.g. T9hh, QThh, KThh)
could definitely be correct yep. I didn’t feel super strongly either way - I think I’m just going to barrel turn with basically all my KT always as it just seems so maxEV
Ben, do you think spyware might be in any popularly used poker addons? (One in particular that people use for RNG, not naming names) I'm seeing a lot of very good players with very poor graph results. It's almost an anomaly to see someone with a good graph over this last year or so. I understand variance, and I understand things can be worse than you can hope to expect during certain bad runs... But all these very good players, theoretically sound, are showing terrible graphs over fairly significant hand samples, etc. You can say like that I might be overestimating my ability, or that I have tons of leaks... I don't believe that to be true, but even if I grant that... it doesn't account for the fact that I know lots of very good other players that are showing up with very poor graph results over fairly big hand samples (then combining their graphs, which is millions of hands... and they're all losing, or breaking even). Personally I've been a winning player for 10+ years, but this past year is just... strange. Thoughts on this? Could something be going on? Have you been experiencing the same trend within your own group of poker friends? I'm almost at the point of buying a new pc, and not using any poker addons because the suspicion is that high.
If anything, this is pure speculation btw and not a claim, I think the Variance of all the better players at the same time would be more closely related to the volatility of BTC.
I mean it’s not out the realms of possibility, but I would say it’s close to 0% that this is happening. I know plenty of regs who are crushing the games using the same said softwares. I think the games are getting tougher, edges are smaller, and cheating is more prevalent. as a community we need to support one another in preventing cheating, and individually we need to continue to improve our game to give us the greatest chance for a good year

3:29 terrible call here Ben to be honest, your calling to chop at best, you couldn't know he was a whopper In advance, what are his bluffs? Maybe Qh Ax which blocks nuts on flop and turn, but you expect these to follow through on river?? I think you are calling to chop at best but mostly just shown KKKK
@@BenaBadBeatPoker some of players don't have real money jus computer make sure they win and if U cash out jus takes it from players other table don't cash out
haha well I’m not thrilled playing on ACR but in comparison to iggy - at least at hs - nearly all regs are known. and if they’re not known they’re under immediate scrutiny. this should mean that overall cheating happens less in my games! as for sitewide, they’re at least working with the player base to remove bots. ignition just completely dusting it off on all fronts haha
I think your overbet shoves are too heavily skewed towards bluff (at least from your videos) and you should balance it out with value as well. Like for example the AT hand in the end i would love to see you 2x pot jam it even tho we block the calling range. (We can balance w KJ QJ KQ i think)
probably some sample size bias in there! also you gotta remember that when I just value shove river for 2x pot and get called by another good hand, it’s not interesting enough to post on TH-cam haha.

What do you think of the AA rivershove in hindsight? In practice I feel like he has traps and folds and rarely a bluffcatch
I think it’s an extremely standard river shove still. I would say you’re likely making fear based assumptions about them not bluff catching and only calling traps! we can’t possibly know how an unknown player will construct their range
think practically the bluff catchers just get folded. think playing block is likely the best option

Block/fold, they ain't bluffing enough on such a good river card for OOP when OOP has so many available bluffcatchers
In that KTo hand, do we ever have Q8 as you were saying? Since we obet OTT, I don't think Q8 does it (almost) ever.
Yeah, IMO. He's representing sets and straights on the river. He has 75/T9/(pJs??, maybe)/p6's/p4s.
I didn’t specify but I meant Q8hh! I would mostly check the other Q8’s but I don’t think they make the worst bets ott even when polarising
Nice one Bena enjoyed that!
