    My Dad had a green one with the 4 door hardtop when I was a kid, my grandfather had a 72 Fury 1 that had the solid back taillights. The 1 was passed down to my mom and I 1st started learning how to drive in it. Yours is in beautiful condition brings back memories of my youth.

      I wish I could say this was mine, but I just videoed it at a show. It's a great example of a substantial car that was well built to give good service, as exemplified by the Fury 1 that you learned to drive in it. I'm glad it brought back great memories! Thanks! :) Jack

    Very nice. I had a 1972 Grand Fury, green on green. 360 cu. in. 727 torqueflite. A very nice car. Quiet, smooth riding, plenty of power and really pretty good on gas. Sure wish they would bring these cars back. The new stuff beats the crap out of you on a trip.

      @coolrides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Craig! Nothing beats these big cars for comfortable driving and riding for the long trips. Emphasis was put on that, not so much on economy. It sure was a different time...at some point we'll only see them in museums. Thanks! :) Jack

    Hello Jack, very nice Plymouth! I had a '73 Fury III 2-dr in this color. One of the best cars I ever owned. The 360 was an excellent engine for this car. Wish I still had mine. Very nice, and I like those whitewalls.

    • @coolrides

      Hey, Randy! I'm glad you owned one! These were stylish and durable...only drawback was the appetite for fuel. Thanks! :) Jack

    Plymouth sure was hitting above its weight in terms of luxury back then. This nominally Impala-level car sure looks more luxurious than either a Caprice or an LTD. Nice! I've always liked those taillights, too. And one didn't need a house if one had one of these. You could put 4 bedrooms in the trunk :)

    • @coolrides
      @coolrides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plymouth really did a great job with the styling of this car...that divided grille/bumper arrangement, the tailights you mention are recessed into the bumper...all styling elements in common with GM cars and very well accepted. The fuselage style newly introduced was a good match for this car! It offered dependability, performance and room! Thanks! :) Jack

    My dad had one of these in yellow with black top, and it became my daily driver to high school in 1980. If you floored it, it would shift to 2nd at 60mph, I can assure you it will do 120, did it many times although it does start to 'float' at bit at 100.

    • @coolrides
      @coolrides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Sunny! These were tough cars...and its top speed isn't surprising! "Float" can be pretty alarming! Thanks! :) Jack

      I loved the handling and speed this car could produce in a hurry. I use to take it and put up on the trolley tracks and I managed to keep it on as long as I wanted it was that prosise and in made the ride smooth on those potholed Pittsburgh streets.

    Beautiful car in great shape. Love this colour. And the best thing about this car is that i am the lucky owner. Just bought exact this car a few months ago from a car collector in Germany. And guess what the fury is still in Germany. Looked at this Video several times to be sure. Here are some hints. The mileage is now 44650. Slight damage at the drivers side dashboard. Bob caldwell lettering on the trunk. Slightly Crooked hanging front bumper (drivers side). Same mats in the car and trunk. In conclusion so many coincidences there is no doubt. It is the same car.

    • @coolrides
      @coolrides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Dudex! Wow! This involved some detective work! Amazing that the car is in Germany, and I'm assuming you're bringing it back home! This video was done in February 2018 in Kissimmee, Florida. Well it's a great car, and I wish you the best with it! Thanks for letting me know of its history! :) Jack

      @@coolrides Hello Jack. This car is going to stay with me in Germany. Actually I am just putting some work in corrosion protection for our climatic conditions. This is the only thing that should be done. Everything is still working on this car. No Other works needed. Better than a mercedes s class :-)

    Even though those landyachts weigh over 4000 pounds, it would be the perfect car to have and be able to say "lets go to LA tonight!" and know that the car stands every chance of making it and be comfortable while doing so.

    Is it riding on crossplies? I thought the spare looked like a crossply but I can't work out if the tyres on the road are. There'll be a lot of tyre scrub on corners if they are crossply! I like the gold seats and the offset trunk lock. Amazing such a big old car is so dent and ripple free down the flanks.

    • @coolrides
      @coolrides  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Mick! I'm not good at deciphering the types of tires...this is a low mileage vehicle, so it's possible the tires have some real age to them. I think the car has lived in a garage for extensive periods of time. Thanks! :) Jack

    Are you sure this is a Fury III? My parents had a 72 Fury III and I noticed on this car, on the front side marker light, you have the name Fury and then the amber reflector. The word Fury is what actually lit up as the light. On my parents car, you had the word Fury III on the marker. Chrysler had about 5 or 6 versions of the Fury series back then. You also had Fury I, Fury II, as well as the Fury III. another example on this car are the fender mount turn signal indicators on top of front fenders. Again, my parents car did not have those. I don't see how most people kept the variations separated. Not meaning to sound like a know it all, I'm just saying.

    • @coolrides
      @coolrides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find "Fury III" by the side marker light on the driver's side and also on the plate on the deck lid. As I remember the series of the full sized Plymouth cars, there was the Fury I, Fury II, Fury III and Sport Fury. I do believe the turn signal indicator lights on top of the fenders was an option. Thanks! :) Jack

    • @ejwa12
      @ejwa12 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, I missed the marker on the driver side. It does say Fury III. But on the passenger side it is different, just says Fury and that is what caught my attention. Also, it wasn't shown in the video but on the dash board above the glove box there is another plate that would also had the Fury III as well.

    I bought be of these in 1985 and drove it for a few years. It was the least amount of money that I ever paid for a running car. I paid $75 for it and drove it home. 😁😁😁. My dad was a mailman and a car finatic. He would ask about cars he would see sitting In someone's yard. He found some of the best deals ever! One time he bought a baby blue 1970 Camaro with 12,500 miles on it for $1100 in 1983 and mom was so upset with him. He sold it the next week for $3500.😂😂😂
