Ben, I came across your video on the acca student resources about Quality Management. It wasn't new to me but I forgot about engagement quality control reviewer stuff. I watched the whole thing then read a couple of questions. Read the technical article on engagement quality control reviewer. Read it again before the exam. I was so happy when it came for 25 marks word for word. I was literally remembering the video of yours picking out the various risks and saying why it is bad. I also used your technique specifically in the exam of not just stating this is a risk but also specifically explaining what areas are a risk and affected. I ran out of time and left 10 marks but overall I think I'm extremely happy with how I attempted the paper. Your tips are literally the best.
I think it was an unfair paper as the requirements that were asked are not the usual ones .. question 2 where you had to mention the objectives of ISQM2 - it rarely asks to describe an audit standard. In question 1 usually they give a bonus qs on ethics and professional issues which didn’t come out instead they asked for NOCLAR responsibilities. This was my second attempt as the one in September I failed for 1 mark and this time round I practiced a lot of MOCKS and past paper exams of the last 2-3 years putting effort in exam techniques, but the Dec paper seemed to be different for me. I am a bit disappointed because I did the MOCK exam offered by ACCA which was corrected by an ACCA tutor and passed but this MOCK was based on the same requirements of the last 2 years exam papers but I felt the Dec paper asked for different requirements which I felt they were not aligned with the MOCK! At the end of the day I feel that it depends also on the marker as in the MOCK I wasn’t given any points on some remarks that I included and which you included in the debriefing video. The scenario of qs 1 wasn’t straight forward like the usual ones. I feel that the Dec paper was hard compared to previous ones.
Agree, this paper was nothing like the past papers I've done, no easy ethics marks that seem to appear every single year, the qsm standard question was nothing I have saw in the past, time to continue revising to resit in march for me 👍🏼
I was also very surprised to see the 'knowledge' type questions coming up. This type of question hasn't been tested in AAA for many years. With marking - ACCA has lots of detailed controls over the actual exam markers and marking process to ensure consistency
Thanks Ben Wilson. I focused on exam technique rather than learning the material and I passed this time around. Worked on getting the easy professional marks as well. One step closer to getting my ACCA.🎉
Hey Ben. First of all, thank you so much for all the content & debriefs you have been putting out here for free. I found it very helpful in my preparation. My AAA Centre based exam got postponed to 11 Dec - remote session due to adverse weather conditions here in India. Do you think, I can expect the same trends/questions you have put up in this video ? Thanks in advance :)
Hi ben, there was a quality question on how quality can make public feel more secure about audit under ISQM 1, i watched your video on quality in another channel mentioning how time, review, hot review, cold review are necessary from planning-completion. I wrote almost all that, does this answer match the requirements of the question? thank you.
Its impossible for me to say without having seen the detail of the question! But it sounds like your points are more about WHAT happens during quality management, rather than WHY, so may not score
I can't review the March 24 exam until it has taken place! There are lots of videos on my channel to help with your March exam preparation - but even I can't review the exam before the exam has taken place :)
Sir Ben, in last question regarding ISQM 1 abouy how it helps to keep maintain public trust, i wrote points like 'detailed analysis of statements', 'integrity', 'problem solving mindset', before accepting a client auditor keep 'client screening' process. Will it gain any of the marks? Pls answer
It’s impossible to answer - it really depends what detail you wrote to explain your points. To score, each point would have to be explained in the context of the scenario
Omg Variant 1 sounds brutal
Yes it was
I found it ok but ran out of time. I revised TCWG based on your predictions and got it in the uk exam so I was happy with that! Thank you
You're very welcome :)

Impossible for me to say! My understanding is that the ‘spare’ exam is different questions, but I don’t know
Can corporate governance weaknesses be part of business risk as well? In relation to operational and compliance risk?
Yes - as long as you explain why the corporate governance weakness impacts business performance
