“The Old Days: Part 2” The story continues. Soon, Toby was pushing the heavy train of freight trucks at the big hill. He made a tremendous effort, but just as he reached the top, the weight of the trucks became too much for him. His driver shut off steam and applied the brakes, but it was too late. There was worse to come. As Toby thundered toward the worksite, with Applejack and Pingu in his cab, he saw Percy, Dorothy, Pinkie, and the Wheelers dead ahead on his track. They all gasped in horror. “NOOO!!!!!” cried Ellyvan, Zooter, and Bungo together. “Look out, guys!!!” cried Toby. Toby, Applejack, and Pingu rocketed past them, disappearing into some bushes near the worksite. The three of them shut their eyes, and Toby braked with all his might, and at last came to a halt in front of a station with an old shed. When Toby opened his eyes, and when Applejack and Pingu got out of his cab, they couldn’t believe where they were. Percy and the Wheelers pulled up behind them, with Dorothy and Pinkie in Percy’s cab. “Are you alright, you three?” Zooter gasped. “You rocketed past us like crazy” Pinkie said. But Toby, Applejack, and Pingu were bubbling with excitement. “Guys,” Toby said, “This is my old Tramway.” “And look, Toby,” Applejack said, “There’s your old shed.” “I’ve never thought I’d see it again.” Toby replied.
Just then, Thomas, Twilight, and Unikitty arrived with some workmen, and The Fat Controller, Lynn Sr, and Rita Loud. They spoke sternly to Toby, Applejack, and Pingu. “You should know your own strength by now.” The Fat Controller boomed. “That was real dangerous.” Rita said. “I’m sorry, sir, Mr and Mrs. Loud.” Toby said. “Yeah,” Applejack cut in, “We only wanted to help.” “I’m aware of that.” said The Fat Controller, “I’m just glad to see you’re safe.” “Though it’s a shame you three spoiled your surprise.” Lynn Sr said. Toby, Applejack, and Pingu were confused. “Our surprise, sir?” Toby asked. The Fat Controller, Lynn Sr, and Rita smiled. “Yes, Toby,” said The Fat Controller, “Our new extension is in fact a restoration.” “We’re restoring and connecting your Tramway with the main line, and Thomas’ Branch Line.” Lynn Sr continued. Toby, Applejack, and Pingu cheered. They couldn’t believe it. “Oh sir.” cheered Toby happily. “Thank you so much.” Pingu said.
When the restoration was complete, Toby, Applejack, Pingu, and Henrietta took a special charter of passengers and special friends old and new down the line on the opening run. For Toby, Applejack, and Pingu, it seemed the good old days were here to stay. THE END.
