The left one looks vacant in the middle and has a large culet.

Thanks for the vids, So many say "Cut is King" and this really established the difference. Symmetry is always an attractive feature. But even the very good cut was nice to look at. Still haven't seen a "good" cut vid.

Hi Remi. Thanks for your question. Once we receive a diamond in our lab we run a 3 dimensional Sarin scan on the diamond which is akin to a "CAD Scan" which measures each individual facet on the diamond. From observing the measurements of the upper/lower girdle facets we can quickly and easily determine just how much digging (or painting) is done on the girdle facets.

They sparkled the same amount to me. The only thing is the very good cut grade has a dead zone and the excellent has it’s fire and sparkle throughout the whole face.

Yep... just left out the word "scintillation" that time. :) Sparkle scintillation is what is seen in the spot lighting environment. It is the dynamic movement of light as the diamond is rocked and tilted in the spot lighting environment.

I have a GIA very good cut diamond and it has gorgeous sparkle. It might help that it is a D color diamond but the diamond is stunning.

Hey Mimi, I do not recall that diamond having a culet. It looks like the facets meet at a very fine point toward the center of it. I do notice owever the small ring in the center of the table, but that's a common look and too large to be a GIA Excellent diamond if it were the culet.

I own a Heart and Cupid triple excellent D colour round diamond pendant in platinum. Though it’s only a little over a half carat, it looks much bigger than actual carat and it’s such an eye catcher. I get lots of compliments on how nice I look with it!! The best part? I bought it with what my grandma left for me when she died years ago.
