I want to take a moment to recognize how incredibly important the work that Scalespeeder and his peers have brought to the DayZ modding community. The technique and methods brought to us in Scalespeeder’s content allows us to change and enhance the way DayZ runs to ultimately deliver incredible adventures to players. I’ve come to really admire the skill and craftsmanship put into the Scalespeeder free XML files after extensively testing the experience they create by dedicating many hours on my test server to observe how the experience feels on a long timeline from the beach to the airfields and everywhere in between. His balancing of enhancements had me saying “now I see what all the fuss is about, this is a engaging and balanced experience”. You understand if you’ve played DayZ and are receptive to such experiences, that Scalespeeder has indeed reduced the extraordinary range of XML code and distilled it to a state where the enduring and fundamental DayZ essence is concentrated without being lost. For me(6000+ hours of DayZ gameplay later), the reason this is ultimately so satisfying is its underlying morality of having the minimum efficient amount of material to get off the beach and into the map where an appropriate amount of effort yields proportional and just rewards. DayZ players will naturally roam in the areas that get them the resources they need and so there is a very special balancing of resources and events that must be VERY carefully implemented to encourage players to move around and enjoy the whole map. Thank you for your continual support of server admins Scalespeeder, DayZ console would be lost without you.

My server was a shoddy error filled crash fest before I found this channel. Now it's an actual work in progress with ACTUAL progress xD thank you so much for all you do!
This is the best explanation ive come across so far, i went along and went silly with the amount on the map, but didnt think id need to consider everything else 😂 now i know that i partially wasted my time and must go back through it all

Hi Scalespeeder, I love your videos. As somebody that suffers from severe dyslexia and not ever so computer savy you make it very simple to follow step by step and I really appreciate that. Just a quick question, is it possible to make less damaged stuff spawn and have pristine or worn stuff spawn in its place? Since the 1.19 update nearly everything I find is damaged or badly damaged. It wasn't like this the day before the update on my private server or on official. Maybe it's something the devs accidently brought into the game which they will fix but it's damn annoying going out farming to find only damaged stuff.
Please do a video on how to combat hackers as a server admin. Like what tools and logs to utilize to kick cheaters from the server that you find pleass
i have a good question.and i would like to thank you.your videos helped me learn quick in modding my server.heres my question.i added all the crafted leather clothing into the game.but none has spawned in.it should be there since its in the scripts.have you ever tried it?and how long after you make changes does it take for the game to impliment them?
Hi, me again lol also is it worth reducing the numbers right down of all the stuff you don't want to use e.g work hats ect to help the server? It's only me on it atm so there is a lot of stuff I would never us, I could then make more useful stuff spawn in.

I have been following these videos as a complete novice. Great work by the way.
My question is. when I have cars spawn fully working is it worthwhile to remove the doors etc which may spawn as loot, obv keeping the radiators plugs and batteries actively spawning. Would this free much space for other stuff?

So ive done it a million time but i got up this morning and edited my files while no one was on the server was empty so i think i forgot to stop the server before I deleted my files to replace them with the new files will it work itsself back out or do I need to reset to default again nothing is spawning in but guns Idk if they was there first and the timer didnt pick them up.Any helpful info would be appreciated
Sos I have an issue with the events file
If Nom , min , and max are same number can it cause an error . Such as 3,nom, 3min, and 3 max for bears

After completing this video I log onto my server and can't seem to find any loot. Have 3 people looking everywhere... don't know if I'm missing a step. I even went as far as adding 100s of items, just trying to find something. Any suggestions
is there no tool to change just the numbers ? so if i wanted to make everything equal but got over 600000 items
I use skirts to reduce my heat from running back and forth.
So you have to edit the loot amount one by one ? there is no general setting where you can change everything in one go?
P.S. Great videos and great work , i´ve learned a lot by watching them .
That is correct
So, i went along and didnt listen too you and made my loot nominal value to 1000. Changed the restock to 1800 and changed the min to 900 for basically everything in the entire xml. And its totally fine, i mean, theres definitely something in pretty much every building but its not as bad as i thought it would be lol. I do recommend being picky with what you want spawning, and how much. Put the value at around 100/200 and it should be fine. More than 500 and you will probably have loot in every building without fail lol. And definitely choose where you want your loot spawning, like in farms, towns, villages and military camps etc, because it is rather annoying having constant paramedic, surgeon and nbc clothes near the clinic, and finally, i took away most of the tier spawning, which did make alot of the spawns feel better because you dont know if something is damaged, worn or pristine, and yet majority are at a shittier quality so it sorta evens out the loop amount because you just wouldnt take damaged gear. I kept most weapons at military camps though since finding a aug in a clinic wouldnt make much sense. Anyway, thanks alot for this video once again, could you please tell me how to change the quality of the loot?

Gday Scalespeeder. Question...What happens to the original cml file when you upload the edited file? Does it get deleted?? Or don't touch it??

What do you mean by “ quite a while to take affect ” How long does the changes take? Days or weeks? I just did this to my server for the 1.20 update and some files are not working like i had before the update.
It depends how busy the server is.
PC Nitrado Server here: After completing and following along, then hitting save, I have a types.xml on the left and one on the right in FileZilla. One on left has larger file size than the one on the right. I have no idea which one i should be removing? or am i suppose to just leave it like it is? So confusing.
Are you worried about which of the files will be prioritized over the other??? I’ve been trying to see if he explains that at all in the vid but looking at his stuff, he just leaves them there as far as I can tell lol

So after uploading a custom types folder, I now have two in the directory, my edited one and the base types file. Is that normal or do I delete the base types.xml?

This didn't work on my dayz as I done everything what I watched so nothing included 0 infection too 80 weapons loads off ammo plus box also tactical clothes plus 50 vehicles but I included all locations every

@scalespeedergaming hey mate I'm just curious I have recently been playing on server in Australia and now its changed names, has your name with ++ and its also been changed to a passworded server is this your server and how do I get access, been locked out
Other servers use my XML mods, and sometimes they use my name as a sort of advertising.

help idk what i did. i upped what zombies have in them.... so I thought... but now they have nothing 2 days and nothing in any zombie. im running on PS5. nitrado server.
How many people are on your server and go back and check to see if you deleted a bracket to end the code or start it.

That is just for configuration files. The files that we edit, are not configuration ones, so you're good bud
So I played in a server that had a lot of food but also had a lot of weapons and mags, cars spawned with survival gear, mostly military gear with military spawns. The server ran smoothly however when I change the values of certain weapons they have not spawned yet even after restarting. Please help lol
the dayz central loot economy and item persistence is quite complex in as far as how fast it cycles new items in place of where they were before you make a change. It takes time to cycle those new changes in, so long in fact that with significant changes I'll perform a server wipe so that the server initializes with the desires values right away.
@@foehammer2992 so the problem I’m having is trying to come up with the exact nominal value. The server I was in spawned near military but there was a significant amount of military loot: plate carriers, Military jackets, field backpacks, weapons with full mags, canned food, vehicles full with survival gear, etc… I’m just trying to figure out the numbers I could put in to have it similar to that server without adding too much and make it run smoothly.
@@matthewhouston8929 the nominal value count isn’t really going to matter as long a the server doesn’t count the item while it’s on a player or stored on a container. So if the server doesn’t count the item once it’s picked up it’ll respawn another in when and where possible in a orderly way. The nominal value is how many are going to be offered into the assigned loot spawn locations assuming there is an empty place without max total pieces of loot or players within vicinity. If you want to see an immediate reflection of the code you change like I said you’d need to perform a persistence wipe on pc or reinstall on console (without wiping your XML mission files).

GREAT work GREAT videos and thank you for the info, but i think if you space out these explanations any LONGER then they need to be, I will LITERALLY be able to watch the grass grow FASTER. And what I mean by that is, I notice that you'll give the definition of a tag (like category=NAME) and then give an example of an item like "if u want to find an m4, that would be under military" then "if you want to find a hammer, that would be under tools", but then you'll give like 12 more examples of the SAME THING. next thing you know its been going on 5 mins explaining something that could of been said in 2.if you cold just get to the point and move onto the next a lil quicker that would be EXTREAMLY helpful
