I think that this open the doors to a lot of creative and productive opportunities! I love it. Just the thouht and idea of seeing both notion projects/tasks and my google calendar. all in one view is amazing! thank you Notion for making this possible. Time to start getting creative...
I can't replace Apple calendar or any other calendar outside of Google Calendar because as of now it only supports Google accounts. To really take on other calendar apps it needs to expand to other calendar types like Outlook. Otherwise, Fantastical is still the better option, though it comes with a cost.
I have tried it and absolutely love it! I have been using Cron extensively since day one and love their willingness to iterate features. The two features that I think will take it over the top for me: 1. Scheduling Link. Allow this to be a constant link such as Calendly. So people can book meetings etc. from there without the manual send of schedule availability. 2. Changing the names of the calendars. I have different views for a single database. I'd like to display them under different names/colors on the Notion calendar. Great video by the way!
Hello Simon, I understand your enthusiasm! Thank you for the clear and comprehensive description of the Notion calendar. Not all functions are useful to me, but the first steps show me the great benefit of managing my tasks in the calendar. I can't wait for the Android app...

Because I have my notion homepage that is basically my second brain, so it'd be nice to be able to see my Google calendar events directly in the notikn database I've connected, instead of only seeing the events from the notion database in the notion calendar. hope that makes sense

At first I was thrilled that there is finally a real calendar in Notion for Mac. Unfortunately not in Notion but separately. But still. But when I loaded it, the big disappointment: No synchronization with Apple Calender! This makes Notion Calender practically worthless for me.
It's an amazing tool, I love it. But the desktop Mac app makes other applications glitch and freeze, so I had to delete it, and now everything works fine again.

My only problem with Notion is that offline desktop sucks (same with a lot of other web apps). I wish Notion just made it sync to a local folder. I also wish Notion Calendar had an android app because i am a big android enthusiast.
Hey, great video as usual! I just wanted to know how your calendars have so many different colours - it seems like the options the app gives is very limited.
Thanks! Yes - those colours are related to my Google cal account options. I believe you can also select a colour for each Notion view you link from Notion. To technically you could link for example a do date calendar for tasks and the same database but from a deadline view: and see both on the calendar in different colours. :)
Wow, this update sounds incredible! I've been using Google Calendar for a while, but I'm really intrigued by Notion's new Calendar app. Could anyone share the key advantages of Notion's Calendar over Google Calendar? I'm particularly interested in features that enhance productivity and integration capabilities with other apps or platforms. Thanks!
You said you couldn't drag items across weeks in Google Calendar for years, but......I have been able to very easily, lol. I love that Notion's calendar is more fully capable now, though. Very amazing to have it expanded.
@myouniverse0613 When using a computer screen and mouse, just click and hold the item like you would to drag it to other time slots, but drag it over to the end of the week and keep holding it there for a second or two. That hold/delay tells it you're moving it to the next week, and the whole week changes. You then either drop it right there, or move it to the proper day you want in that week. Same thing when using a phone or tablet, but you just press the item and hold it and then drag it to the end of the week or to the start of the week. Don't let it go, just keep holding it for a second or two, and the calendar will flip forward or backward depending on which side of the calendar you're holding it on. I've never had an issue moving items cuz of that trick. ❤️ I hope that helps.
It makes some sense that they'd have to pick which of multiple date fields you'd want to have on the calendar, but for now it's a little clunky, and I'm in a situation where the Notion DB Calendar supports multiple start/end date fields for Timeline views, which I take advantage of, and then the Notion Calendar App only supports one date field so all my DBs aren't displayed properly... I'm going to hold off for a bit before reconfiguring my DBs and hope they add that support.
Yes I will: first: I need to work on it and find the best and easiest approach. But if you want to start: the simplest way is to create a new calendar view in the tasks database by the ‘do date’ property, filter for all but the done tasks and then click open in calendar. You can then time block tasks in Notion cal! Thanks and I’m getting on this over the next months ready for the 2024 life OS update :)
I think they should have finished the sync and recurring events issues before they released it, as well as finished the apps for ios and Android where we ALL use it.
Simon, I can see how to create a link to my google calendars, but how do I get a native Notion calendar for a user? i.e how I use it without the need to link to Google. I get how you link to tasks or projects, how do you show a users availability.
Hey, I love this Notion Calendar, especially the "booking" functionality. Did anyone knows if there are any plan to also integrate an Outlook Calendar? For my business stuff I use Microsoft 365, including the Outlook Calendar... I had it also as "read only" in my google calendar included, but during the read only part, the booking functionality is a bit useless for me 😞
Hi Simon - just started to use Notion and your videos helps a lot - keep them coming. Is i possible to integrate Outlook calendar and apple calendar at the same time. I’m only using Notion on my iPad Pro…
Hey Simon, thanks for the introducction, however I tried to add my databses and when i try to seach them it appears blank as if I had no databases with the calendar view (Which I have), same happens the other way around when i opne the calendar view in my notion the button to open in calendar is missing. Do you know of a way to fix this or a way to contact notion to solve this?
Hi Simon, Great video. But I am curious about your microphone setup at 4:37, with the rode wireless microphone + interview stick, How do you use it with your mac? I am unable to use it when directly plug into the 3.5mm port of my macbook pro. Really curious to know the solution.
@@BetterCreating Sorry buddy, commented on the wrong video there didn't I! This was/is awesome though - thanks for putting together such a rich guide so quickly after release. 😁
Nice video. A couple of things I can't do, if someone could help: - Is there a way to set my Notion app as the default Notion for when you hit a link? If I link an event to a notion page, it opens in my browser and I widh it would open inside my app - I added a database from notion into the calendar but I can't seem to be able to change the color of the blocs. Where can I set that up? Thanks!
Was super excited for this but after having played around with it for a few hours it is really disappointing. It's not bad, but, as it is now, it is your generic calendar app without any meaningful Notion integration. I'd have honestly preferred a revamped calendar view within Notion with Google and iCal integration.
Fair enough! I’m very happy to see I can view Notion databases alongside my Google cal schedule. And that they can block each other as busy. This is a great new feature for me for time blocking. Also great not having to duplicate my publishing schedule into Google.
Thanks my friend. My editors all use premier and after effects I believe: and we designed the look and feel together. If I edit myself - I use Final Cut and drop in rendered animations from after effects. :)
Quick question: I can sync from gCal -> Notion Calendar I can sync from Notion database -> Notion calendar But I can't seem to find out how to sync from gCal -> Notion database or from gCal -> Notion Calendar -> Notion Database. How do I do that? Context: I want to schedule events in gCal and have a view in my notion database so that I can have filters. I'm scheduling and moving around working-shifts. So far I use Zapier but I'd rather use something native. Thanks!
It's going to be big I think when people realise the potential it now offers. + so much more intuitive and accessible to use than Google Cal on a basic calendar app level
Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems there's a major limitation if you have one central "events" database and use views of that across your different projects - as far as I can tell, Notion Calendar won't let you filter your calendar view, as you would create a filtered view within Notion currently. Either I can see *every* event or I have to choose to see nothing at the moment. I can't filter the events on a per-project basis.
I believe You can filter the source database view you have selected in Notion, and then it will adjust what is shown in calendar. I believe there is also a way / hack to show multiple instances of databases in calendar as different connections too… but working on that!
Hmm. Haven't been able to figure that out. But I did try launching filtered calendars from Notion to Calendar with no luck. If you come up with anything keep us posted. Thanks for the great videos. @@BetterCreating
Hello, Simon! I'm wondering if there's a way to create different event types (like out-of-office events) that would reflect on my Google Calendar view. Did they mention anything about it? 🤔
Will Notion acquire a whiteboard/infinite canvas app so we will eventually have a standalone Notion Canvas app that will compete with Obsidian and Scrintal?
OMG! at 8:10 on your task database, if purchased your template how and can do what you did? Drag the tasks between the status column? Please please reveal. :) Also, I am not seeing on the calendar what I have on my task data base, Did I missed to set something?
You need to create a calendar view in your tasks database organised by do date - not ‘do date formula’ - and filter where task is not done. Then connect that view to the notion cal. Should work from there :)
hi, im not sure what im missing, but how do you apply a filter to the notion database linked, ie: only show completed tasks. in Notion Cal, or anything like that. thx
8:58 i'm curious how you reached this takeaway..? in my mind, notion has basic confirmed they have no desire to allow their users to sync notion with gcal. instead, they're pushing you to use their notion-cal as your primary and assisting the switch by permitting only a one-way sync.
That’s not exactly my message here. I can log in to Notion cal with Google cal and use as expected as your primary (I did this with Cron for a longtime) and now can see things aligned with Notion databases: it is Notion databases that get a two way sync yes, and yes, Google cal can’t be imported into Notion - but I can easily change items between Google cal and a database in Notion cal, and we can set busy blocks and other time blocking to work across both: for me this is better since I get usual Google cal functions, but with a better interface and my tasks and projects aligned there :)
Hi! Is there a way to have a month view on the phone app? I only see options for a 1, 2 or 3 day view. I'm really missing an overall view of your month..
I’d really like to see the Notion events that have no date YET so I can drag them to a date to assign it. As a workaround until they give us this, I guess I’ll assign placeholder dates so I can move them around on this new app. But it would be ideal to see the event even if it has no date yet.
In that instance - I’d just view them in a filtered project view like I do with my Life OS system - tasks don’t need to be on a date - then you can just add a date when ready and see them appear for the day :)
Ah - I filtered the database calendar view that was feeding from Notion to Notion cal. First it was filtered to not show complete tasks, then I changed the filter to show complete tasks. Or I could simply change the status on that entry to in progress and it would show for example. Hope that helps!
How do you get your “Better Creating” mail to appear in the sidebar? I also have a business mail associated with my Notion for the team, but I can’t use that on the Notion Calendar, because it’s only for Gmail. So how do you do that?
I would think that will come once Notion goes further in a future update. Make With Notion Summit is coming in October - I would hope we can expect some announcements! 🤞🤗

But I can't seem to find out how to sync from gCal -> Notion database or from gCal -> Notion Calendar -> Notion Database. How do I do that?
Context: I want to schedule events in gCal and have a view in my notion database so that I can have filters. I'm scheduling and moving around working-shifts. So far I use Zapier but I'd rather use something native.
Thanks!
Sounds great!!
It's going to be big I think when people realise the potential it now offers. + so much more intuitive and accessible to use than Google Cal on a basic calendar app level
Thanks for the video !
My google tasks won't sync with notion calendar. Do you know if there is a way to sync them ?
Hi, I do understand your enthusiasm but how do I use it on my (Samsung) Phone? There is no App, is there? Thanks
Seriously appreciate you getting this video out so soon, +1 subscribe from me!
Thanks my friend! It was a push and published from my ski trip! Haha. But worth it on this occasion. :)
The events sync from notion 1 database can only share one common event colour..hope that could be improved someday
Any idea when can we connect our Microsoft office calendar to Notion calendar?
Will Notion acquire a whiteboard/infinite canvas app so we will eventually have a standalone Notion Canvas app that will compete with Obsidian and Scrintal?
OMG! at 8:10 on your task database, if purchased your template how and can do what you did? Drag the tasks between the status column? Please please reveal. :)
Also, I am not seeing on the calendar what I have on my task data base, Did I missed to set something?
You need to create a calendar view in your tasks database organised by do date - not ‘do date formula’ - and filter where task is not done. Then connect that view to the notion cal. Should work from there :)
Thanks for the video!! Do you know if they'll eventually let us sign in with ical or outlook at least?
Not sure - but they have said other providers will be added eventually - I would hope so! :)
@@BetterCreating thank you! That would be so helpful for me cause I use outlook for both work and uni, so for now it’s a bit un-useful for me
hi, im not sure what im missing, but how do you apply a filter to the notion database linked, ie: only show completed tasks. in Notion Cal, or anything like that.
Is there a way to use this the way we would use AddEvent? To share an event our course schedule with people who can then add it to their calendars?
Hi! Is there a way to have a month view on the phone app? I only see options for a 1, 2 or 3 day view. I'm really missing an overall view of your month..
I know we can add google calendar.. but is there no way to link this to my apple calendar?
I’d really like to see the Notion events that have no date YET so I can drag them to a date to assign it. As a workaround until they give us this, I guess I’ll assign placeholder dates so I can move them around on this new app. But it would be ideal to see the event even if it has no date yet.
In that instance - I’d just view them in a filtered project view like I do with my Life OS system - tasks don’t need to be on a date - then you can just add a date when ready and see them appear for the day :)
How do I create events that span over two days, but with specific ending and start time?
Hopefully the next version will integrate with Microsoft as well as google
First feel for me is the notifications is not working better, maybe they update it in coming future.
What did you do to make an event appear as done? Like the event that appeared at 6:40 "TGMM Production... 10 - 11 AM"
Ah - I filtered the database calendar view that was feeding from Notion to Notion cal. First it was filtered to not show complete tasks, then I changed the filter to show complete tasks. Or I could simply change the status on that entry to in progress and it would show for example. Hope that helps!
Any ideas on the best way to sync notion calendar with Outlook?
Not an option just yet - but I suspect they will offer outlook login if they can I future.
How do you get your “Better Creating” mail to appear in the sidebar?
I also have a business mail associated with my Notion for the team, but I can’t use that on the Notion Calendar, because it’s only for Gmail.
So how do you do that?
Great !!!! Thankssw
Why no option for the stand alone calendar without link to the google's one?
I would think that will come once Notion goes further in a future update. Make With Notion Summit is coming in October - I would hope we can expect some announcements! 🤞🤗

Is this aiming to do what Motion does? I’ve been using both and it’d be nice to just use one.
That's a good question - but with Notion AI and the recent developments - it's something that could be possible perhaps in the future?
Can we integrate Outlook and Microsoft 365 accounts into Notion Calendar?
