For the tire chopping check your shock dampeners if they are shot replace with new ones and that will significantly improve tire wear worked on our RGN/ step deck trailers
Always wear that hearing protection! I started wearing hearing aids when I was 52 because I can't hear high pitches anymore and my ears are constantly ringing. I attribute it to too much time on the tractor when I was a kid with no hearing protection, shooting guns, and riding the motorcycle while listening to music on ear buds. Losing your hearing kind of sneaks up on you so when you are young and doing things that make loud noises make sure you are doing something to protect your ears. Once it's gone it never comes back.
Meh,,,, on an air ride? I don’t think so unless it came off of the lift axle. And he didn’t say that he said it came off a dual. Seems more like it was run low on pressure, or maybe the other tire had more tread.
I know Mr. Dougo appreciates y’all young, strapping men able to do the tires! I haven’t heard Mr. Dougo complain about “The Struggle Bus” lately so Life on Larsons Farm must not be as hectic till that upcoming time of the year! It’s exciting BOYS! I missed ToBy today! Did he get so much attention the other day…he required a day off? Blessings to Everyone @ Larsons Family Farm!
Hey Chet a couple of helpful hints - 1 use soap water mix on your tire beeds to mount and dismount makes things lots easier. Second step down on one side heavily and the rest of the tire will mount better. As for your tire wear, I found on my trailers brake adjustment is what caused that uneven wear hope it helps
Used to work for jb hunt and when we would take off brake chambers we would put it in steel box that had notches so you could use a torch to cut down the sides and make the safe to throw away. I unfortunately have seen one come apart and crush coworkers hand whole new respect for brake chambers I always cage with bolt
I stopped by the station along I90 on Good Friday that was under construction when you went to Parkstan to MDS to pick up this snow pusher that Dougo made a issue that it was under construction then you needed fuel...LOL it is now open and they do not ban Dougos so you can bring him back to it now...LOL
Hey you all here in Indiana today is April 6th last Friday we got 4 inches of rain rain Saturday rain Sunday rain Monday pretty decent Tuesday rain Wednesday today's pretty decent but we have got the mud have a good one bye
I don't miss doing semi tires and road call one bit. Truck stop I had worked used same tools you have, tire inflator and tire hammer. They did get tire machine but it was far faster by hand. Haven't done semi tires in 26 yrs you can have all the fun LOL
We have a liquid fertilizer tank trailer to haul 28% that has a hydraulic pump on it and runs off the trucks hydraulics if your truck is plumbed with hydraulics for a dump trailer or belt trailer!
Chopping tyres are usually faulty shock absorbers - well in cars they are, but I am not sure for trucks as I have now experience of trucks. Grat videos. I love the interaction between you guys.
Great video. Y’all have to be getting tired of snow. God bless the Larson crew on the upcoming planting and spraying season. Look forward to more videos.
Caging a brake can is easy and it is way less expensive to change the Diaphragm than the whole can. Most Brake cans have a caging bolt on them. you just need a special deep socket to cage the the brake can. I made one by welding 2 sockets together.
That is not correct, a 30/30 brake chamber has rubber diaphragm that are 30 square inches on the service brake and spring brake side of the chamber. A 30/36 is 30 on the service brake side and 36 on the spring brake side. 30/30 and 30/36 chambers come in both standard and long stroke. You can tell a long stroke by the square intake ports, trapezoid tag, or the stamping in the steel.
@@jerrypropst2867 as long as the are the same size ie a type 30 long stroke and short stroke can be mix and matched as long as they are within stroke length limits
Chet, Great video! I thought we were going to be down one "Big Swede" after he snuck up behind Dougo with that air horn. I bet that new spray trailer is going to be awesome.
I can see Brody and Eric playing demolition derby with those cars in about another year or so. 🚗🙄🫣🚗 Not sure who would win, I'd almost bet Brody would win. That snow removal looks way to easy with those toys. Awesome video guys. 🚜🚜🚜
The hydraulic drive water pump will be mounted directly to your boom spray unit and powered by the tractor. Handy if you are going to multiple water sources to fill up.
Usually if you have chopping on both sides of an axle it’s caused by shock absorbers. If you are only experiencing chop on one hub it is in most cases because your wheelend is set up incorrectly or the bearings are actually failing. If the wheel bearings aren’t set up with the correct end play the tires on that hub will wear like garbage. Use a dial indicator to set up your end play from 2-10 thousandths. If brand new bearings I always set them up at 2 thousandths and on used bearings I like to set around 4-5 thousandths. That is with both inner and outer nuts tight.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Changing truck tires is hard work. Not easy at all. Plus is fairly dirty job also. Eight tires is a lot to do. Good job guys. Like your snow blade on the payloader. Works really well. Nice. More stuff ordered for the sprayer trailer. Time to start putting it together. Thanks for everything Chet. The Iowa Farm Boy.
Chet, your 3" lines will work ONLY IF you ues a 3x3x4 inch tee fitting. The outlet side of the tee to the pump is 4", AND there MUST be a straight section of 4" pipe at least 12 inches between the tee and inlet. And any valves in the inlet side must be "full port" ball valves, and always left fully open when running. (Closed only for maintenance.) If flow regulation is needed, a full port ball valve on the outlet side (depending on pump design) is ok. But check the manufacturer's instructions. Some pumps permit flow control via the inlet. There can be NO adapters so that tee must be a 3x3x4 cast (or plastic) tee. A 3x3x3 tee with a 3x4 fitting WILL NOT WORK. I am a former water system operator, and pump theory and proper connections was one of the many mandatory certifications I hold.
Yep. I’m not a farmer but if I’ve learned anything from Chet and Dougo. We’re looking at 100 to 90 day seed being planted this year. After the snow melts.
I am 99% sure that the trailer needs an alignment and maybe some new bushings. Sorry if the grammar sucks i am from sweden and works as a tire fitter 😇
From someone who has seen the changing of the pancakes in the air brake system, if your not sure don’t touch it. Watched my brother take to dish( back half of the air brake chamber) to the chest all because he took the wrong band off. It launched him 20 feet and had a sorry chest for weeks
As someone that uses a pump similar to those pumps, we run centrifuge product pumps on our semis to haul product water from infield tanks up here in Alberta Canada, centrifuge product pumps with a mechanical seal/ bearing on input shaft gets lubricated by water and grease, definitely run grease lines to your bearings, by going with 3 inch plumbing off discharge side will definitely slow down your gal per minute compared to if you go with 4 inch, and we are steal plumbing with a manifold system for off loading and loading, 2 butterfly valves for suction and 2 for discharge, loading is 2 open for suction, 2 closed and other way around so it’s not in a open loop, with a 1 way pto switch, truck rpm set at 800rpm and we can load and offload roughly 3 cubic metres a minute with that set up, when we had to swedge down to 3 inch it’s between 1.5 and 2m3 per minute, so would say if you can go all 4 inch system, and if you have to load from a pond or tank with no head pressure then highly recommend getting a small gear/ booey pump with isolation valves and put it in your system a head of that pump then you can close off once Banjo pump has suction, and not starve and take out banjo pump trying to get suction! Hope that helps and hopefully you guys see the comment
Unscrew the flat piece of pipe out of the bead blaster, screw in a 6ft long piece of galvanized pipe. At 120psi it’ll shoot a golf ball through a tin wall at 80 yards.

Lol my cousins did road side semi tire changes for years. He did it himself... he also held me up by my ankles at the age of 17... good job boys keep up the good work
Chet Dougo Eric Broodie great explanations on the tires and ear protection can't say much about there choice of farm trucks impala trucks take out back seats cut hole In roof take off trunk lids or find an El Camino body and put on the the frame and call it El impala.
Hey Chet, 3 inch will be fine. You’ll lose some static pressure but nothing serious because you’re literally pulling 5-10ft. Give the pump a minimum of 2 ft of 4 inch pipe so you have fully developed flow going into the pump otherwise it might mess your pump up.
The chop is because the axle is not in alignment with the center pull line of the trailer. One side can be out 1/64 of an inch and no signs of chop. Multiply that by the width of the axle and the onther side can be out over 7/16 of and inch causing the chop which is the whell draging at an angle an hopping to get a new bite. this happens over and over causing the chop.
over 800 inches at Utah ski resorts this year. gonna be flooding in the valleys... but should end up helping the water levels in the historically super low Great Salt Lake...
Chet, please make a shirt with a picture of Dugo and the quote “GOD BLESS AMERICA”!!! 11:08 in the video. That is now my response to everything that irritates me!! Love it.. 😂
It’s cause someone keeps laying on the brakes and those specific brake drums are tighter. I used to flatten tires when I was new. Back them off and eighth or lighten the brake pedal.
In 30 years of trucking I have seen it all in tire wear, mostly on steering tires wearing funny. Usually balance or suspension or alignment issues or a combination.
It's 89 degrees here and my pepper plants are starting to produce. Having a beer while watching you guys play in the snow, thanks for the show.
