Thank you all so much for watching! I had so much fun making this. As I said, it's an early first draft of a story. There are certainly things I would rework. For instance, I would give Gojira a round 2 in the third act where he wounds Godzilla before Operation Wadtsumi Round 2 begins on Godzilla. I would also give him a bigger attack on the military in the third act before he winds up in the mountains.
Actually. I would prefer if there is only 1 major monster battle so that we hammer home that we don’t want a monster fight. We can still have amazing action just not a lot of monster vs. monster action. That’s just my current thought though.
@@TheOfficialSen That's a fantastic point! I think I'll stick with the one monster battle and instead give Gojira a much more intimidating appearance, taking out the reformed Japanese Defence Force as he makes his way to Tokyo and extending his final fight before he's frozen.
I know this isn’t really important to mention or anything but imo it would make more sense to call the second movie Godzilla 0 so that in the final movie when the humans win (if that’s what would happen) it could be called + 1 or something like that
Great pitch man! I'd love to see kaiju that we haven't seen in a while like Varan and Hedorah to fit in the trilogy. With a new second Goji we'd also get to kinda see where Godzilla Tokyo sos was going to go with in there cliffhanger too
Hey D Man..... Here's another possible pitch (but not necessarily a sequel). Noriko starts to mutate into a Godzilla- like creature much like the creatures that were spawning from Shin Godzilla's tail. And how her friends are trying to cope and deal with her situation. As well as Godzilla returning from his regeneration but with a twist. ... They cannot kill him the same way twice to which they use the Oxygen Destroyer to combat him. But it is difficult to do, seeing that they would also have to deal with Noriko
really fun idea! again id love to have a godzilla fight another godzilla (tho i have a feeling this might not happen) the idea that the remains of godzillas flesh not only regenerates the og godzilla, but also creates another godzilla is a super fun idea. I had a similar idea but instead of multiple godzillas, other classic toho monsters would grow out of those remains. It doesnt make a whole lot of sense but its still fun!
Very nice pitch for the next movie. With everything we know however, I do feel a more natural Godzilla and one that Godzilla has a close relationship to could be more interesting and flesh out Godzilla as a character. Also I would hope the 2nd Godzilla (if it is) would be named something other Gojira/2nd Godzilla. Koshira or Dagon would be better names and save the name Godzilla for the individual monster and not the species. 🙏
I agree. I don't love the idea of Godzilla being the name of the species. I don't mind having "Gojira" and "Godzilla" be two different creatures, so long as they aren't part of the "Godzilla" species.
Back in my college days (the '80s) my friends and I had a great time talking movies, how we'd write the next chapter and who we'd cast. I always appreciate this kind of fantasy. But 'IF' you were to write a new Godzilla minus one verse movie without Godzilla (like "Rodan" 1956)? For example (off the top of my head) I think a kaiju like Oodako or Gezora might make an interesting movie. As always, thank you so very much for the videos.
It's so much fun doing that! I do that with my friends too As in, what monster would I want to see have a solo film in the Minus One universe? Because it is absolutely Rodan. He needs a movie to remind the world why he's the goat.
An interesting idea would be to make this a spiritual sequel to Shin-Godzilla, sort of a "Godzilla Minus One vs. Shin-Godzilla..." Essentially, a re-imagining of "Godzilla vs. Super-Nuked Godzilla" from 1994/1995: Have the original Godzilla (from Minus One) fully healed due to feeding off the radiation produced by hydrogen bomb testing in the South Pacific. I would establish the "Shin-Godzilla" as a subspecies of Godzillasaurus (either a naturally occuring aquatic reptile that has been surrounded by illegally dumped nuclear waste and forced to evolve or a clone). Of course, either the ANEB and/or the Oxygen Destroyer serves as the super weapon. I'd also have Noriko feel some sort of psychic connection to the original Godzilla, being able to predict his appearances. Akiko would have sympathy for Godzilla, seeing him as an animal suffering from the same disease as her mother. The battle between Godzillas would be for dominance and establish a sort-of mutually assured destruction. Eventually, they kill (or imprison in some way) the "Shin-Godzilla," thinking the original Godzilla has also died. The film would end with the original Godzilla surfacing at a nuclear power plant in the USA, setting up a sequel. I'd tackle remaking the rest of the showa series from there and end with a "Destroy All Monsters" meets "Terror of Mechagodzilla" style bash.
When Godzilla regenerates, I hope his appearance will be closer to his Odo Island form, having a larger head at the very least. The recent trend of Godzilla having tiny head REALLY annoys me. My ideal proportions for the Big G would be ShodaiGoji's.
Technically we did get a godzilla film where he battles an other godzilla with "Godzilla vs Space Godzilla" Nice pitch for a part two of "Godzilla minus one" 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾💯💯💯❤️
Meanwhile Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS who had Godzilla face off against a Mechagodzilla that uses ShodaiGoji(1954)’s remains as a baseplate
I really hope that this will NOT be a sequel to "Minus One". But I have a bad feeling that it will be. And if so, the only character that they should bring back is Noda, much like the only character to come back from "Godzilla" to "Godzilla Raids Again", was Yamane. Make it a homage!
I do not want it to be Godzilla vs Godzilla but you’re idea was cool! If it is going to be Godzilla vs Godzilla then I want the second Godzilla to look very different. I just don’t want two similarly designed Godzillas fighting. I think that’s boring.
I must say it is an excellent idea although I’m not big on two Godzillas fighting but if it’s done in a very War of the Gargantuas way like this, I’m sold. Personally, I think the Godzilla that regenerates in the sea wouldn’t be exactly the same creature as in the first movie. I can see it almost as a newly born animal that has no memories of its previous life and sees Japan as its territory. Now, its personality wouldn’t be as aggressive as the original, but I wouldn’t say friendly. It’s just that it’s able to sense its cells in some of the people that were infected like Noriko and sees the people as its kin which leads it to indirectly defend Japan against another monster.
Thank you so much! Also, thank you for joining D-Force! That's a pretty fascinating idea! I like it! Although, I think Yamazaki is wanting to keep Godzilla as a pure villain, as I am too. For me, Godzilla represents the horrors of nuclear war and so that's how I like him.
@@DMan1954 You’re very welcome and I totally get it. I’m just trying to figure out a way they can do the second Godzilla route without him being totally heroic. They still try to get rid of him, but Noriko senses that there is something different about this one, think Miki Segusa from the Heisei series, because of her infection and tries to convince the others that Godzilla can be lured away. After Godzilla defeats the other monster, mankind learns that they have to live with the beast until they find a way to kill him completely. They still fear him as a walking atomic bomb.
Hey Dman! In Godzilla: The Series episode “End of the line”, earlier drafts were gGodzilla was going to fall in love with a “Female Godzilla”, but the producers didn’t want another Godzilla so she was changed into a mutated Komodo dragon named “Komodithrax”. What do you think of it? Would you like to include a female Godzilla in your next pitch?
I'd love to see a more global response following the events of minus one in a cold war setting. The soviets finding inspiration from the events in minus one, culminating in the creation of "their own" monster (Anguirus would be amazing) and somehow Godzilla and that monster class. (Soviet monster idea mimics the idea of a race towards the most powerful weapon) this idea also puts emphasis on similar themes as those you talked about, relating to government agendas spurring on unethical science which has dire repercussions.. (also, note that the Cold War starts in 1945, which works out rlly well)
I like a few of the ideas here, my only real problem with it is the original Gojira running from a fight, gives me a bad G98 taste in my mouth. One Idea for a third film might be to follow the little girl's character into the late 60s early 70s have her involved with Hedorah and a returning Godzilla.
Pretty interesting pitch. Whatever Yamazaki is going to do with the sequel, I hope he keeps most of the ensemble cast. Because that has been a weak spot in the entire series. Even the Heisei series with it's continuity and recurring characters could have done a better job with this.
Actually it would been better if the final battle was between gojira and Godzilla in the end gojira wins with the anti-Godzilla cells weapon, Godzilla and noriko met and the aircraft and he realized that noriko is sick so Gojira give his G-cells to her to make her healthy again for helping him defeating Godzilla but both him and humanity are still enemies so he’s sparse them for now, in a post credit scene Dagon woke up to find Gojira 16:24
@@DMan1954you should check out his Hedorah design and he even did a scale comparison with Minus One Goji. His designs are insane especially his Feudal Japan Godzilla series
I really like the idea of focusing on Noda. Even if they do the more typical kind of characterization where he doesn't really have much of an arc, he's still enough of a developed character that he wouldn't fall into the pit most human characters suffer from in older godzilla movies. On the idea of a few cells regenerating into a new form, I really like your idea of looking like basically godzilla fused with older asian dragon art, but it'd be cool if it had kinda the same issues that Shin Godzilla had and subsequently took some cues from its design, maybe not the blood everywhere but the obvious distress and red hues almost like flesh because its such a new creature. Minus one godzilla functions the way he does as a result of radiation, but isn't a new creature born out of that mutation. It'd be cool to see a totally new creature that has the healing factor but obviously its biology hasn't figured out how to contend with itself especially if its growth is exponential.
I could write out a full blown idea, but one thing I'd like to see is what people assumed Shin Godzilla would originally be - the ruined carcass of the old Godzilla regenerating throughout the film alike an animated corpse. Play into the body horror of this grotesque, mutilated creature whose leaking body fluids all over the place and has misshapen organs and entrails falling out of large flesh wounds where the regeneration process hasn't taken place yet. I would also play into the ideas of GMK with Japan repressed their history of WWII and these repressed aspects, in a Jungian Sense, form as the shadow of which they must confront head on. Obviously, you already can correlate it to something suppressed coming to the forefront, in terms of psychology (especially on a collective level). I would probably say that the ending should be some mass contamination event in which not only does most of the population die off from biological contaminants but also the DNA of the survivors is altered and leads to a different strain of humans.
