唱腔以風流瀟灑見稱，有關她的資料極少，因為據說她是四大天王中最為美豔，成名不久即嫁與一名門望族的富家公子，此家族素重書香禮節，因此張惠芳嚴守家訓，不復人前露面，更不用說壇前賣唱。一直到唱片大行其道的時期，與此家族交情極深的唱片公司力邀張惠芳復出，張夫礙於面子無奈答允，但約法三章，只許灌錄唱片，不作露面宣傳。因此張惠芳就灌錄了那幾次唱片，然始終不曾用名露面，之後更是與夫家共隱於香港一山間別墅，再無她的音訊外傳。
