    I was born in 1978, but I feel very connected to Mr. Cassidy. A great talent, but one who suffered great loss, and in the end, besides his children, he was left alone. His last words 'so much wasted time,' makes me cry. His time was not wasted and he is loved and adored by so many. May God grant him eternal rest for the joy he brough to so many.

    When I was in 5th grade we had a trivia contest one day, and my teacher bought prizes that we could win, and they weren't lame school supplies, they were actually pretty cool and fun prizes. I won the cassette single of this song, which was a small prize. I was really into glam metal back then, had never heard of David Cassidy, and wasn't really interested in his music. It sat around on the shelf in my bedroom still wrapped in it's factory sealed cellophane for at least 6 months until summer vacation when I finally unwrapped it and popped it into my old JVC boombox out of sheer boredom. I instantly loved it, started listening to it daily, and it went on to be one of the most iconic songs of my childhood; more so than any glam song. Every time I hear it I am mentally teleported back to that summer. RIP David

      thanx for your comment and sharing your memories. I personally have loved all types of music, but melodic rock, glam/pop metal were always some of my favorite. I'd get teased about listening to Journey, Giant, Stryper and bands like that by my friends who were listening to Iron Maiden or Anthrax etc. but I like it all. I still have a ton of cassettes including stuff recorded off radio. I hope to someday have the money to buy the stuff I need to digitize it and maybe upload. heck I can find any of it on the internet though so that takes some of the ambition out of me. but I tell you what, people like us who can be touched by a song like this, and turn it into part of the soundtrack of our lives, well, I guess we are the hopeless(ful) romantics left in this world. thanx again for your comment and sharing your memories. blessings.

    I luv this song by David Cassidy. I have been a fan since his Partridge Family days. Artists like David, Donny Osmond, Barry Manilow, the artists my generation grew up listening to, remain because they are truely talented. Blessed with the gift of a beautiful voice, artistry, showmanship and a great love for their fans!! God bless you David and keep the music coming!!

      +Nan Branch I used to get teased by my big sister's friends for liking Barry Manilow and Airsupply, but i think it was because i was just a born romantic. i always searched so hard even at a young age for a girl who would want me, i could never seem to find it, but it came so easy to all the jerks who would pick a new girl to date every couple of weeks. it never seemed fair, but i'm sure my sense of melodrama didn't help matters. cheers and thanks for the comment!

      Yes. I absolutely agree. I generally prefer studio versions over live. There are apps and even websites that will "grab" the audio from videos, but I generally don't recommend it for several reasons, copyright of course, and you shouldn't mess around unless you already kinda know how to navigate that sort of thing to avoid malware, viruses, etcetera. I tried for a long time to remember the name of the song and find it. When I finally figured out the song title, I tried looking it up here on TH-cam.....apparently there are some older uploads than mine, but they didn't show up in my searches anyhow. So I found this on a different video sight (this was back when even TH-cam had a download button on every video without drm's), and uploaded it here for anyone else looking for it. Royal-Tea maybe. That is a possibility. It seems like every few years some new artist is either sampling from older songs or remaking them. It just goes to show that good song writhing stands the test of time. If you like this sound, you might want to look up some of these bands; Alias (formerly known as Sherif also a seventies band), The Storm (produced by Steve Perry from Journey), Bad English (basically all the members of Journey EXCEPT for Steve Perry), and Giant (founded by former Christian Rock band Whiteheart's guitar player- but NOT a Christian band).

    • @royal-tea7543
      @royal-tea7543 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very much agree about good songwriting standing the test of time. The 70's sound is not my favorite but I like how DC pulls it off. I like his voice and the song is pretty good ( despite the fact that it's not my fave style). This is a case of the vocalist getting a listener to like a song that they would not normally listen to.

      It did come out in very early 90s, but I have to agree that it still has that 80s charm to it. Like bands like Bad English, Giant, The Storm, and Alias........they all came on the scene in the very early 90s, but are still considered by most people I know as 80s rock. There was a ton of great sounding melodic bands in the early 1/2 of the 90s, so I guess either descriptions would be apropos. Blessings!

    There had to have been a lot of David Cassidy fans in Japan during the 70s, because if you watched "UFO Grendizer" (1975, Toei Co.) the robot pilot in that anime looks a lot like a young David Cassidy right down to the clothes and hair style! ........That being said, "The Partridge Family" was one of many 70s TV shows that inspired me to become a musician. Fast-forward to his solo career through the 80s and 90s, it was plain to see he couldn't match the current trends of the music industry after "Alternative" and "Punk Rock" music became socially acceptable to the mainstream audience. Few of Cassidy's babyboomer fans remained loyal to him, but not enough to make his comeback significant and sustainable. Nonetheless, I still admire his voice and talent. In a music industry world of Rock-n-Roll clones David held his own. While the music industry tried to re-mold him, He did things His way.
    Thanks for everything and the music, David. RIP

      I'll have to check that show out. I totally agree with your comment. He just could not remain relevant. I think one of the things that bothers me is that he was genuinely talented, but he was never taken seriously as a musician. Just another teenage fad. Lumped together with all the tigerbeat heartthrobs flavor of the week. Thanx for the comment.

    David Cassidy was surely regretting being foolish and not pursuing and committing himself to marriage and family with Susan Dey. She was completely devoted to him - especially when they were young and so close to one another while working on The Partridge Family.
