I cried with Jiang Chen😢. I read a fanfic that you tried to hate them but you can't hate them fully because apart of you still love them. You felt conflicted, so you cannot fully hate them.
Eh. I don't _hate_ him, but I do seriously dislike him. He's a massive, emotionally-constipated jerk with an absolutely _raging_ inferiority/superiority complex and he treats his own nephew like garbage most of the time. He _really_ needs to sort his numerous issues, especially as he's a clan leader and supposed to be setting an example.
@@mainechar5966 Maybe so. 🤷 He has some occasionally redeeming qualities, but he's usually an ill-tempered, contemptuous douche. I don't mind saying so. I wasn't a fan of him even in the beginning, when they were all at Cloud Recesses. Yeah, grief and all that made it worse, but his baseline attitude seething jealousy and a need to be seen as "better" than everyone, especially Wei Ying. Much of this was fed by his toxic af mother, I grant you, but he needed to own his actions at some point. And it should've been _long_ before now.
@@narliehs1648 you know what made me think twice of Jiang Chen's personality, those fan fiction I had read in Ao3 post canon. I have to give it to those authors, they made JC redeemable. I know a lot of the untamed fans were not pleased with him and that is very understandable. JC has many flaws, that makes him even more human for me. Only 1% can be more like wei ying. And for me that is reality, We are all like JC.
@@mainechar5966 I readily admit that JC's attitude is all too common and that WY's is perhaps a little too "forgiving martyr" to hold back so much, so often. However, what good would lashing out, as JC frequently did, have really done WY? None, tbh, and the odd times he tried, it generally got even worse for him. So he stopped trying.
