The Nonlethal Weapons mod is notorious for killing too many pawns instead of stunning them. StunWeapons is very effective for slowing & capturing enemies, it also has stun turrets, which can automate the task for you.
It isn't problem on non-lethal weapons part, in vanilla there is huge chance that every downed pawn will die even, with CE every non-lethal weapon works perfectly, you can even load shotguns with beanbag shells and safely down everyone without armour that way

In goodnews i tried the 600mm mortar on a hostile carvan the result: Everyone on that carvan got killed the bad 1 of the muffalos had alot of artellry shells on him about seven hundredt the result most of the map is now clear of any vegatation and animals...
Someone needs to make a mod for some Rum based abilities, like you can have a colonist who's essentially a booze wizard and can make everything on the map piss drunk. Imagine how fun it would be trying to raid a base when everyone is drunk.

Maybe try to change "death on downed" chance. In vanilla I find it quite strange and unrealistic that pawns just die sometimes when they are downed. So personally I always change this values because it's much more realistic and convenient. It can be changed in the settings. Also where is CE? The people demand it!
I usually run the "Questionable Ethics" mod, so I only have to rip out their spine instead of two legs. Also you can really become a psycho with that mod and just have a prisoner and over time remove arms, legs, eyes, ears, nose, jaw and leave them basically a torso until you need a vital organ like a heart or liver
3:36 That's because you play without CE, in vanilla combat there is that thing called "Death on down chance", And it is literally what it is called every time a pawn is downed a gamewill make a roll 1D100 and checks if that pawn will live, it you have a lot of colonists the chance for enemy to die are huge, i'm talking like 80-95% for around 20 colonist base, that same thing can happend to your colonists but the chance is much smaller in comparison So yeah if you ever have someone die for like literally no reason, it was the game FORCING them to die
The mod he is using is notorious for killing instead of downing. Changing to a functional mod like "Stun Weapons" or to wtf ever that mutant animal mod is called (not genetic rim) and use the tranq rifle from that and they'll go down as intended with no deaths.

You can change this setting in your storyteller settings under Custom, all the way down to 0%.
